What to expect
  • Explore the Manchac Swamp, the second biggest cypress swamp in North America in tandem or single sit-on-top kayaks (think stable and easy). As you adventure through the spanish moss laden cypress swamp, a knowledgeable guide will share stories and give an overview of the benefits and trials the swamp is currently facing. We do NOT feed the wildlife and the animals; alligators, turtles, birds are non threatening. After our kayak tour, we head to B & C Seafood where we stop for an opportunity to experience some Cajun food. (You have the option to purchase food) Step out of your comfort zone and try some fried alligator, gulf oysters, crawfish, soft shell crab, frog legs or keep it simple and get the smoked rabbit gumbo. If you don't want to push your palate, then I suggest the red beans and rice. A southern staple! After a fun lunch, we venture off to the Whitney Plantation. The Whitney Plantation offers you an opportunity to experience the story of plantation life in Louisiana from the perspective of those enslaved. It does a good job of not glorifying the ownership. The 45 min drive home gives you a quick chance to nap prior to hitting the town.

Great Family Experience
Jul 2020
This was a great day with our family. Sam communicated well, picked us up on time. Was wonderful and safe with our travel. He was knowledgable and great with all the guests and needs of people. He helped us plan a wonderful trip. We would suggest them to anyone. Well worth the money. They are a quality tour company and Sam is a great guide.

We had a great time with our guide Kelly, he was great. Had a good lunch in a local Mom and Pop restaurant, and the plantation has so much information to absorb regarding slavery.

Great Combo Tour
Feb 2020
Our Guide, Olive was very nice. My friend and I did the Kayak, Plantation Tour which was perfect for us as there are not many companies that do a swamp tour and Plantation tour in one day with transportation.
It was cold for the alligators in February so we did not see any but we did see an owl, birds and a turtle, It was great as it was very peaceful and quiet in the Bayou. After the Kayaking we went to a restaurant and had 1 1/2 hours to buy food and drinks, very good variety of food and recommend the Mint Julep.
The Plantation guide was amazing and kept us engaged and gave us great information of what life was like on a Plantation.
Enjoyed this tour very much.

Excellent Kayak and Plantation Tour
Feb 2020 • Friends
We had a group of 5, including 3 who had never kayaked before. Gertie was our guide and he did a great job introducing the basics of kayaking and giving a great tour of the swamp including wildlife and plants. The Whitney Plantation was amazing and an experience that will stay with us for a lifetime.

Wonderful day tour!
Jan 2020 • Couples
My mom and I had a great experience on the kayak swamp tour and plantation tour combo. Gertie (sp) was our guide and he was superb! He knew a lot about the plants and ecosystems and environmental impacts on the swamp. We saw many birds and even a nutria! We also really enjoyed the restaurant we stopped at for lunch. And the Whitney plantation was a must visit, a very well done tour!

Great tour and guide - wonderful experience
Jan 2020 • Couples
Everything went exactly as planned. Kelly was a great guide, very knowledgeable and helpful. We lucked out with great weather for kayaking and a small group with just one other couple. It was well paced and really beautiful. We followed the kayaking with lunch and the Whitney Plantation tour which poignantly told the painful story of the enslaved people who were forced to work there and across the south and U.S. The plantation guide was excellent and really knew her stuff. I learned a lot and would highly recommend.

Excellent tour
Dec 2019
Both the kayak tour and the plantation tour were fabulous. I was so fortunate to see 3 alligators in the winter along with a variety of birds. We were the only people on the river which was also a treat.

The Whitney plantation is the only plantation you need to see. They focus on the history of the slaves and how poorly they were treated.

This tour was my favorite part of our vacation in New Orleans!!

Great combination tour
Oct 2019 • Couples
If you have the time, get out and do the full day combo tour. Our guide Josh was awesome. Super knowledgeable and friendly. Kayak is a great way to see the bayou and swamp areas. Josh knows a lot about the flora and fauna of the area and was able to answer all of our questions and provided ecosystem context as well as history. We went for lunch at a beautiful spot with great food, then to the Whitney plantation for a historical tour. Highly recommend.
