- Melissa A00Royal carriage RideGuide Shannon and his mule Cole were great!! Very informative and sure footed pair. Would highly recommend, great way to see the city and save some steps.
- ashleysA4754LC00Great ExperienceCasey and Desire were AMAZING. Casey was so outgoing and knowledgeable. This is our first visit to New Orleans and this was a must do for us. Definitely worth it.
- Kerndo00French quarter tourThis is a great tour. Our guide Mark made it happen for us by squeezing us in on one of his tours and advocating for us. He was extremely knowledgeable, made every effort to be heard and added his own humour to make it an enjoyable experience. The one hour tour is the best way to go!!!
- MICHELLE H00Very interesting and informativeOur driver was very informative on the actions that took place in another time. The tour was enjoyable and I would recommend this carriage ride
- Blake C00Fun History LessonOur guide and his wonderful mule took us on an hour-long carriage ride through the French Quarter. His knowledge of history and legends was remarkable and entertaining. I would purchase this again.
- medinajesus202300CameliaKJ was great! His ability to engage the guest by his on spot commentary and history, made the ride even better; and of course Camelia was just the best.
- vlampson00InterestingThe carriage ride with Marty and Pretty Boy was very informative, accommodating, and interesting. Thank you for the experience.
- petermW5383OA00Mark @ Royal Carriages: A gem in a gem of a cityIf you're ever in NOLA and are looking to learn the rich history of the Vieux Carré, by all means book a tour with Mark at Royal Carriages. Aside from guiding with charm and kindness, Mark is astoundingly well-versed in the history of one of America's great urban centers. Thanks to him, at the end of the tour I felt not only culturally-enriched, but a closer intimacy with the city I love.
- jh1983202300AmazingTony and Jellyroll were the best! This tour is something that everyone should do. The history alone makes it worth it let alone all the haunted and crazy things that have happened there.
- MCSquared400History buffThis was our 3rd historical tour of New Orleans but it still had information we had not heard before. Stef had a great sense of humor and Ivan was a great mule even for juvenile! We really enjoyed our time. Highly recommend.
- eles2023202300Wonderful for both young and oldWe visited NOLA with our young boys and they can’t stopped talking about the carriage ride with our mule Beignet. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area and very entertaining. We will definitely do it again when we are back in town.
- lllfuller00French Quarter carriage ride!We did this tour as a couple, it was a wonderful, relaxing way to see a lot of the area and we learned so much about the area! Our driver/guide Mike was great!!
- aegguevara00French Quarter Carriage Ride on 11/10/2023Enjoyable ride through the historic French Quarter. Tebow was very informative. Since it was four of us, I opted for a private carriage for an extra $20. It was worth it. The information tied in nicely with the cemetery tour and other activities that we did later on during our visit.
- amandadV4121IU00Worth it!!!Amazing carriage ride around town. Lucas and Liza Jane were great and engaging. New Orleans history suits itself well to a haunted tour. The stories were crazy and outrageous but true (we googled them, lol). And we found out our hotel in the French Quarter is haunted!!! Definitely recommend, 10/10.
- maijr111900A must tour when in New Orleans. LA of the French Quarter.Mu husband and I took this carriage ride with Marty as our tour guide and Pretty Boy as our leader aka mule. Marty was knowledgeable and fun. It was great seeing places in the French Quarter and the history behind them. We highly recommend this tour. Be sure to ask for Marty.

It honestly was about as expensive as a 3 hour city tour and the guide was not interested in what we wanted to hear. I felt as though it was rushed and we did not get the experience we were hoping for. IMO i would go with a 3 hr limo private city tour. Thet provided us with more information and taylored the experience to our liking. Also, 3 hours vs 1 rushed hour. We also were looking for a more involved history on the voodoo information and oyr guide was not very interested in providing that.

The history we received along with the guide hitting specific spots was really interesting.
Our guide, Fiona, was super friendly and had a lot of relative information to provide us. She talked about the local history, the best places to visit, to eat and explained a lot about the lifestyle that our sweet mule Chicory enjoys as a beloved employee of Royal Carriages.
Both Chicory and the carriage were in tip-top form and presented beautifully!! Chicory was a very good girl and the ride was perfectly paced and comfortable.
We LOVED our experience and would absolutely recommend the activity to anyone who wants a bit of relaxing and romantic NOLA charm!!

I am a history buff and let me tell you I rarely meet a tour guide who meets yet alone exceeds my enthusiasm with history and the macabre world. Lori was not just extremely knowledgeable but she was friendly, fun and enthusiastic. Lagniappee the mule was also integral part of the tour in her sassy and motivated equestrian self, she had her own amazing personality and was ready to go and show! She was a adorable and fun mule. I am jealous of lori’s extreme education and knowledge of the history of New Orleans and the personal history of haunts. Bravo! Much recommend.

t’s been a long time since we’ve been on a carriage tour in New Orleans. We visit the city at least twice a year and really just wanted to enjoy the streets on a private carriage tour with a knowledgeable driver who could provide some interest facts about the sights and the city.
Boy, did we find one! Fiona S and her mule Chicory took us on a tour catered to what we were seeking. She was fun, very informative and also gave us an interesting education on mule behavior, We fell in love with Chicory too!
Great tour and a thoroughly enjoyable time! I strongly recommend this tour and suggest that you seek Fiona and Chicory out!

Our guide Jonathan did a fantastic job and was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the area. He was both entertaining and thoughtful regarding casual conversation.
Bo Jo our guide mule did a fantastic job as well.
We would recommend anyone that is looking for a guided tour to use Royal Carriages and ask for Jonathan and Bo Jo.

It was very fun on the tour, my husband and I took the private tour so it was just the two of us and we had a great time. The driver was very knowlegeable and the Mule was great and his story was funny too. It was a good pace and very relaxing riding and learning the history of the French Quarter.

Great entertainment and too bad the weather was dreary but still not too cold - 50 degree weather . And the 4 person carriage was quite comfortable for 3 people with an interesting tour right after XMAS day. The Jackson square was very busy that day.

We went on the 30 min. private carriage ride with Fiona S and Chicary. For the 30 minute tour you need to walk up and check for availability instead of getting a reservation. We went about 9 AM and were able to get right on. Fiona was very friendly and knowledgeable about the French Quarter and was able to give a lot of insider knowledge.

We had a wonderful private tour. It is a little extra, but for the private tour I highly recommend paying a little extra to be a little more private. My wife and I loved it. Lofton was wonderful and Shine was very good at his job :). We were very happy and learned way more than we could every take in on our tour, but it was relaxing and wonderful. Would do it again if we came back into town.

Is there a private ride to tour Jackson Square?

Royal Carriages does offer private tours in the French Quarter. When we toured with them, their starting point is Jackson Square so I'm not sure where you are coming from. They are strictly regulated and not allowed to go just anywhere.
