What a great tour. Rob has a wealth of knowledge and I appreciated that he could delve into some of New Orleans history and substantial impact on all American music as we know it. (Making good use of that Masters in Jazz History he collected…)
Highly recommend!

100% recommend! This was an excellent tour and a great way to get an overview of the history of New Orleans and its architecture. Our tour guide, Guy, was fantastic! He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and provided great dialogue. This tour was absolutely a great value for the price of the ticket; we learned so much and greatly enjoyed it. We wished we had signed up at the beginning of our trip because there were many places we learned about that we would’ve liked to go back and explore in more detail after. And walking is the best walk to see the French Quarter. The walking wasn’t extensive and went at an easy pace. We did a bus tour as well while we were visiting, and this walking tour was well above and beyond the bus tour! We wish we had time to do the Garden District walking tour as well because we had such a great experience with this one! Highly recommend!

We had a fabulous guide, Cheryl. She made the walk so interesting by weaving the social and material historical context with the architectural decisions at various points in NO’s history including the Creole, British, Spanish and French waves of influence. She went the extra mile sharing diagrams of the inside of structures. Cheryl also shared untold story of Micaela Leonarda Antonia Almonester y Rojas, known to history as the Baroness Pontalba, who developed Jackson Square’s buildings. The Baroness was a woman way ahead of her time and I had never heard about her. A++ for our guide.

Thank you for choosing New Orleans Architecture Tours! Our tours may focus on architecture, but that is only as a lens to discuss all other things. History, geology, geography, culture, and even climate can be discussed while looking at beautiful buildings! Cheryl is an incredible guide who loves sharing our history with our guests. She balances information with interesting stories to provide really special experiences for our visitors! Her first hand information about the Pontalba family is really compelling! Thank you for recommending our tours on this site and also for sharing your photo of St. Louis Cathedral from Orleans Street.

Highly recommend this informative and enjoyable tour with Gabriella. She brought historical knowledge, enthusiasm, and more than we ever expected to life with every step of this experience. She's a great storyteller & her translated love for the city's rich history and architecture truly were highlights of our entire trip. We learned so much about the French Quarter and New Orleans and kept talking about it as we truly will never look at so many unique aspects of the city in the same way again!

Thank you for adding this excellent review of your tour with Gabriella! She is a great guide because she is passionate about learning and sharing the stories of our city. One of our goals is to tell you stories that you can use to discover buildings in other parts of the city, and it looks like it's working with you! We hope to show you around again.

Guy was extremely knowledgeable and spoke with clarity. He explained so much about New Orleans history and even used historical pictures to help illustrate the stories for us. He took extra time with us, letting us ask questions and explaining other things we were curious about, too. He took his time and didn’t make us feel rushed. Learning NOLA history through its architecture was an added bonus. We highly recommend the architectural tour, and ask for the tour guide, Guy, he is fantastic!!

Thank you for choosing New Orleans Architecture Tours! We like to think of our tours less as a lecture and more of a chat so we keep our groups on the smaller side, which allows our guests to feel comfortable asking questions. Guy is a lifelong learner, hes constantly researching new facts to add to his tours. I am so delighted that you enjoyed your walk with him and I hope you will join us again! Thanks.

We took a walking tour of the Garden District with Karen and the French Quarter Architecture Walking tour with Rob. We were very impressed with the guides knowledge and professionalism. Both are excellent story tellers and were able to answer all our questions in full detail. For those who are truly interested to learn about New Orleans‘ history, uniqueness and culture, we highly recommend booking the tours with Nolatours!

We loved this tour! Our guide was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the architecture of the neighborhood. It was also great to know that he was local to the area and clearly had so much passion for the place that he had researched. We were lucky and the group was quite small--this allowed us to have a much more intimate experience, which was wonderful as well. If you are interested in history and architectural history in particular, then this is a great option to learn more about this historic part of New Orleans. I can't wait to go on the other tours they offer the next time I visit!

Thank you for taking the French Quarter Tour with us! Our tours are small group tours on purpose. We want to create a space that leans more toward a conversation and less like a lecture. We want our guests to feel comfortable enough to ask questions, because that makes it more fun for us as tour guides. Nothing is better than a group of visitors who interact with us. Thank you for adding this incredible review to Trip Advisor and we look forward to sharing another neighborhood with you, next time. :)

Postcard handout with different building styles was helpful. Guide Joan does her best imparting as much information as she can (which is alot). Visual aids gave us a good historical and cultural perspective. Joan texted us ahead of the tour so we knew how we were meeting our guide.
