- AngelaCicada0 contributionsA+ Garden District Tour w/ RonWe did a Garden District tour with Ron. He was amazingly passionate about history and was very informative. He not only told us about the history of the Garden District, he went into detail about many other historic things regarding New Orleans. We loved it!Written 14 July 2024
- toddbB5862TN0 contributionsHelpful history and local color, and (for us) intro to Magazine StreetHave been to NoLa various times since childhood (long ago!), so know the more well-known areas fairly well, but (for whatever reason) had never made it to Magazine Street and its eclectic mix of shops and hospitality. The two sets of narrators and drivers (Chris and Gary, Ellen and George) provided helpful backstory and personal perspectives on various sights and locales along the way. The shaded upper deck was a comfy way to cruise and view, and I'm living proof that someone who has been there at various life stages can learn and experience new aspects of New Orleans -- if you are a first-time or long-lapsed visitor, I'd basically guarantee you'll learn some worthwhile things from the tour itself and the friendly guides.Written 26 May 2024

- ARM1900100 contributionsEnjoyable rideVery enjoyable. I thought it would get boring going around the same stops multiple times but every tour guide had something new to offer. I just wish it would go a little longer into the evening or have a bus that goes the opposite direction. The included garden walking tour was very informative. We did this tour with kids who are 6 and 8. They enjoyed riding around the city even if they didn’t get much from the talking part of the tour.Written 2 January 2024

- Benson_Woo0 contributionsA great way to see New OrleansThis is our fourth time in NOLA but first time on the Hop-on Hop-off bus. This is a great way to see the city in all its finery with a very informative and entertaining commentary on the way around. Ellen & George were our guides for the most part of the journey (which takes approximately 1.5 hrs) and Ellen is a very witty host for the tour. Highlighting the points of interest and as we went around the various districts, the local knowledge is invaluable for knowing where to visit, go and eat and take in some more of the culture of the City that you may not necessarily get to see. Now, being from England, I was particularly intrigued by the story behind the statue of Sir Winston Churchill in front of the Hilton Hotel in the Central Business District. Ellen first of asked if there were any brits on board; we said nothing. She continued that the statue and the traffic island known as the British Plaza was a gift from the hotels developers and unveiled in 1977. Ellen explained the puzzlement as to the relevance of a former Prime Minister that has never even been to the NOLA being prevalent in the CBD and V for victory sign is actually Churchill ordering two cocktails. She does have a fair point. Upon leaving the bus, I did offer to see if we could do something about getting a replacement or additional statue for the Plaza which she did chuckle at and suggested a collection of them. Superb trip around and Ellen, I’ll work on the statues for you and we’ll be delighted to take you up on your offer of cocktails on your porch when next in the City. All the best.Written 7 November 2023

We bought the three day hop-on hop-off bus tour for $49 per person. It was worth it. However, I found out later that the AAA book has a coupon for $3 off per person. The first day we stayed on the bus the entire loop - about an hour and 45 minutes. We also did the Garden District Walking Tour with Paige, who was excellent. We had various guides: Teresa, Joel, and Craig, and they were all good. We got off at the French Market, the Gardent District, Canal Street, and the World War II Museum. The buses come fairly frequently early in the day and less frequently later on. Also, if you get on the bus too late in the afternoon, it may not take you to the stop you want to go to; the buses have to stop by 5:30 no matter what. Overall, I recommend this tour.

We took the tour on January 21st and our driver Malcolm and guide Craig made it a very enjoyable and interesting tour with a lot to see and learn. We can recommend it wholeheartedly, especially if you don’t have a lot of time because it covers quite a lot of the city‘s interesting sights and gives you a good overview. Craig was extremely funny and friendly and Malcolm is a very safe and reliable driver

One of the first things we usually do in a new city is find a hop on hop off bus tour. We bought the three day pass, as it included a walking tour of the Garden District and of the French Quarter. The bus tour took a couple of hours, and changed guides partway through. Some guides are definitely better than others, but all were entertaining and informative. And it was a great ride around the areas, and gave us the opportunity to orient ourselves as to what was where. I thought there was too much “advertising” for some of the business we passed and would have preferred more information and less referrals to the businesses. We took the Garden District walking tour first, and it was pretty good, but very short - about forty minutes and only covered a few blocks of the area. The guide was entertaining and knowledgeable, but it was the last tour on a Friday afternoon and I think he was more interested in finishing his week. The second day we took the French Quarter tour, and the guide was again very knowledgeable and quite entertaining, but, again, the tour was very short and really only went around Jackson Square and not the rest of the French Quarter. We’ll probably use the bus again tomorrow, but more for transportation to some of the distant points and not so much for the tour part. And, we’ll quite possibly do a different walking tour later that does a longer more extensive tour of the FQ and the GD.

We bought the three day pass so that we could enjoy more parts of the city. It was a great way to get around and see everything. All of the bus tour guides were great. Mary, John and the others. Buddy was a great garden district walking tour guide. This is the fourth city where we’ve done tour buses like this and think that they really are a good deal. You see so many things and here so many stories.

Firstly, it was an horrendous day in terms of weather and very difficult conditions. The route of the tour was both interesting and well explained however it was the general attitude of our tour guide as one of a person who has been doing it for years and happy to just go through the motions(‘I am the star of this show’j. The people on the upper deck could hear none of the commentary, but this didn’t seem to concern ‘Pam’ who was happy just to direct everything to those in eyesight and not worry about half of her customers. In fact it was a little bit ‘all about Pam’. This should not deter people from going on the tour, but maybe guides like Pam should understand that almost all the people on the tour are experiencing this for the first time, not 10 years in a row, therefore enthusiasm levels should be more than just regurgitation.

Some guides are good, and some guides are just annoying. Sound system in several buses was horrible; speakers were broken, and there was so much static that we couldn't hear the guide at all. Multiple buses had no air conditioning working, and it was unbearably hot inside the buses. Jeffrey at the ticket shop was very kind to us when we thought we had purchased 3 day passes and only had 1 day passes; he worked hard to help us remedy the situation and was generous enough to give us tickets for the next day of our trip so that we could enjoy the tour. Staff service was very good; actual trips were average. But a great way to see and learn about the city!

Over the weekend we celebrated our friend's birthday in New Orleans, I was a newby to New Orleans so I was very interested in learning as much as I could about New Orleans, We then decided to take a Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour, So for two full hours we toured the city from Decatur Street, along Canal Street over to the Garden District, through the French Quarter, through the Warehouse District and by the Giant Mercedes Benz Superdome. We never actually got off the bus but when we go back we already have a few destinations in mind. A special shout out goes to Theresa and Malcolm. Theresa did a great job telling us all about the city and some great insights. Malcom did a great job driving the bus.
I highly recommend this as a great way to see and learn about New Orleans

I booked the 2 day access which came along with a walking tour of the Garden District; this was well worth it. Buddy ran the tour and it was great. He was very well versed in the history of New Orleans and was extremely knowledgeable about the Garden District. He answered everything that was asked and seemed to go out of his way to point out interesting tidbits of information. Made the day, despite some rain, all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend this additional tour. As for the bus itself; it was very slow in getting to pick-up stops - we waited over 45 minutes at one point for one to arrive and then it barely had seats to accommodate all the people waiting. Nonetheless, I would recommend it; it is a great way to get a feel for the city and as a means of getting around.
Definitely do the garden tour!

Whenever we travel to a new city we take a hop on/hop off tour. It is a great way to get “the lay of the land” and then we can choose what parts to explore further. This was one of the absolute best tours we have been on! The drivers were amazing in all that traffic and small roads. The guides on the buses were entertaining and informative. I highly recommend the 2 or 3 day pass…it is a great way to get around and these tickets provide walking tours of the Garden district and the French Quarter in their price. While everyone we came into contact with on the tours was great I have to give a huge shout out to Chris. He was our guide for the walking tour of the French Quarter and he was amazing! He is a great storyteller and he was very attentive to each member of the group. We had such a good time with him that no one wanted to leave the tour! All around a terrific experience.

On March March 14th 2022 we booked 4 one day tickets for the New Orleans hop on hop off bus. We showed up at stop number 18 at 9:30. We waited almost 45 minutes for the first bus to come. We thought it is the beginning of the day and even if the person at the company mentioned a bus every 25 minutes we went along with the longer wait. We boarded the bus and got off at stop number 9 to go to the superdome. Thirty minues later we were back at stop number 9 to hop on to our next stop, number 12 in Garden District. At stop number 9 we waited close to 75 minutes . When the bus came in we were lucky to be able to board as the bus was almot full. Other people wha had arrived at the stop a few minutes after us could not get on. S we were going to Garden district the bus guide offered 12 complimentary spots for a walking tour in Garden district for the inconvenience of waiting, he said. We took it and left with the guide for 45 minutes before coming back to stop number 12. There we waited for another 60-65 minutes before the next bus arrived There we understood why the complimentary tour was offered to us: because you were freeing 12 seats for the many people waiting at the stop. Again we were lucky enough to board it as a lot of people were left at the stop. This second wait, over an hour each, ruined our plan to visit New Orleans with your service. When you have almost 3 hours of waiting in an schedule window of 8, it does not take Price Waterhouse to figure out that this is a failed approach. Since it was then 3pm we decided that instead to go to Frenchmen we went back to our hotel to prepare for the evening. We could not afford to loose another 60 minutes plus of waiting of the bus.
In the past we used the hop on hop off tour many times( New York, san Francisco, Madrid, London, etc) and it was always good. The one in New Orleans is a disaster and reading from past comments it seems that it is the case for a long time, at least back to 2019. In America when you cannot manage a business, you get the hell out of it and give it to someone who can. We did not make any comments to the guide or bus driver because we knew it was not their fault. It is a business that is certainly run by incompetent people who could not care less about their customers. I will post my experience wherever it is asked to do so, because I want to share how this business in New Orleans is poorly managed but also to say that it is not the case elsewhere in America or in Europe.
