Get a drink-focused insider tour of New Orleans’ famous French Quarter. Leave the navigation to your guide as you hit up the area’s historic bars and restaurants to taste classic cocktails. You’ll learn about the sometimes scandalous history of the quarter’s drinking culture and come away with ideas about where to to return during the rest of your stay.
What to Expect
Head to the Gray Line Lighthouse Ticket Office, centrally located in the French Quarter, to meet your guide. Please note that some finer establishments prohibit cut-off shorts or tank tops, so dress accordingly.

Take off down the street and listen to your guide explain how New Orleans’ architectural style developed. Stop at several handpicked bars, each legendary in its own right, and learn the origins of some classic New Orleans cocktails, such as the Sazerac. Drinks are available for purchase, handmade by expert mixologists, at each stop.

Make a stop at Tujague’s, a historic Creole restaurant (the oldest in the city). As your guide provides commentary on its history, you can purchase a Grasshopper, which was invented here. Step down into its wine cellars and dining room, in operation since 1856.

Return to your starting point, armed with the eating and drinking information you need for the rest of your visit.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable about the history and culture of the city as well as the particular bars we visited (2 of the 4 I never would have found on my own). It would have been a worthwhile tour even without the alcohol.

This was my second time on Gray Line's 'New Orleans Original Cocktail Walking Tour' and I have to admit, it wasn't as great as I remembered. The woman at the ticket office was rather short with me, for starters. Our tour guide, Midge, had a...More

Touristy but Fun for Locals Too

I’m from Louisiana but a friend from out of town talked me into this. I have zero regrets! It’s a bit theatrical and slightly over the top but it is such a cool way to see the French Quarter and learn about its lore. They...More
