South Philly Culture Tour Including 9th Street Italian Market and Magic Gardens Mosaic Gallery

Overview
Discover the cultural richness of South Philadelphia on this walking tour, a great choice for first-time visitors who might worry about navigating a new city on foot. Taste your way through the South Ninth Street Italian Market, take in the South Street sights, and see the colorful mosaics of Isaiah Zagar at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (admission included). Then hop on a public bus to Queen Village and stroll past Fabric Row.
What to Expect
Meet your guide at the corner of Ninth and South streets to start your South Philly walking tour. Explore Philadelphia’s charming Bella Vista neighborhood and peruse the delis, bakeries, and food stalls at the 9th Street Italian Market, the nation’s oldest open-air market. Catch your first glimpse of local artist Isaiah Zagar’s murals and recreate a scene from the blockbuster film Rocky.

Then skip the ticket line at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens and spend about half an hour exploring the indoor galleries and outdoor mosaic art installation. Learn more about Zagar’s one-of-a-kind mosaics and hear stories about the city’s history.

Next hop on a public bus and ride to the historic Queen Village neighborhood. Wander among narrow city blocks lined with pubs and cafes, and stroll past Fabric Row to see the city’s largest concentration of fabric shops.

Your Philadelphia walking tour ends at the corner of Fourth and South streets.

Great intro to Philly

We had so much fun we all wanted to move here! Chuck is very knowledgeable and personable. He also asked probing questions that gave us food for thought. Chuck’s relationship with the folks in the Italian Market was especially endearing.

I do not think the time of the year will have a big impact - of course when it is hot or cold you might be more uncomfortable, but think you will see the same things.
