The tour and tour guide were truly excellent. Chock full of history of both The Statue of Liberty complete with a 3 room movie of the statue’s beginning, to building her in France and then rebuilding her in NYC harbor and the remaking of the original immigrant experience at Ellis Island over 100 years ago to what the modern day experience is.
Our guide was equipped with pictures of the past to help us visualize what the experiences were and her history knowledge was extensive.
The food the food the food! All food baked fresh featuring Jewish, Italian, Chinese and Middle Eastern treats.
I highly recommend this tour and plan on treating my 3 sisters to this WeVenture in June when they visit

Jessie was awesome!! I was the only one on her tour and it was such a great experience. She was very engaging and full of information. We took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and got to walk around while she filled me in on amazing facts and tidbits. I’d been to NY a few times but never visited the statue so I was glad I got to check that box.. We then took a short ferry ride to Ellis Island and she shared more info with me and gave me great insights as to the best way to tour the buildings and walls… she even had some pictures of how things would have looked “back in the day” which helped add to the experience.

After touring the island, which was so amazing, and so informative we took a ferry back to Manhattan and began the food part of our tour which I really enjoyed. I had my first hand rolled bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese (sooooooo good) we then walked to a pizza place and grabbed a slice…. And then on to a bakery and had a delicious croissant and finally out last stop was falafel and hummus…. All of the restaurants we went to were all immigrant, owned, and ran… Jessie had amazing stories and history about each place we went to… All the food was delicious… And because it was just me, I was able to take a little bit from each place back to my room and enjoyed it later on that afternoon… I would definitely recommend The immigration experience and food tour to anyone looking for something a little bit different… Thanks Jessie for an amazing day!!

Whenever I travel I take a food tour and I travel a lot! Some tours and guides are better than others. Most are pretty good but some really stand out and make the experience so memorable. The Tenement, Tales and Tastes tour we did with Erik ranks among one of the most enjoyable tours we've taken and and it all comes down to the guide. Erik is not only extemely knowledgeable about the history of the area and the food we got to enjoy, but he is just a really nice and approachable person. The tour felt like we were being shown around town by an old friend who really loves his city!

I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting NYC. Even if you've done other tours of the area (and I have), there is always something new to learn and this tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you, Erik!

We did the last two hours of this awesome tour—got historical context for the food and culture in the Financial District and yummy tastings. The treats were delicious and I appreciated hearing about the challenges of the immigrant experience bringing their restaurants to the city. Next time will definitely add the Ellis island/ Statue of Liberty tour. Great guide!!

Erik led the Tenements Tales and Tastes tour of the NY lower east side I enjoyed on Friday November 5.
It was just the BEST!
I have never taken such an informative, fact filled and fascinating tour and I have been on many in many different countries.
There was a variety of food and all of it was good.
Erik was so well organized and the tour even ran a bit long because there were so many questions. Total bonus!
I hope Erik leads another tour (or two!) as it would be a delight to learn more from him.

This was an enjoyable immigration history tour. I particularly liked the history portion of the tour where the guide talked about the history of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and some of the people who came through there. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, which added a lot to the experience. The food was good (particularly the pizza at the first stop), but I wish that we had gotten to learn more about the restaurants themselves since they were run by immigrants. Besides that, though, it was a fun experience that I would recommend to anyone interested in history and food!

What an amazing tour. The guide, Ace, was so very informed and interesting. She was passionate about the topic, and she was easygoing and helpful. We got lots of great tips about what to focus on, where to situate ourselves for the best views, and the highlights vs. 'see if you have time'.
She took us to places that the general public doesn't usually know about, so that was a big plus. Although I have been to the sights before, I saw it with new eyes. The guiding was so well presented and I left with an comprehensive understanding of the topic that I did not have before!
The food segment was tied in nicely to what we had seen and the topic at hand. The food was delicious and plentiful, and well co-ordinated so that we didn't have to wait.
The time flew by and it left me wanting more tours of this caliber.

This tour was a whirlwind adventure! We met our guide, Michale, in Bowling Green and were whisked away to Liberty and Ellis Islands. It was amazing, going out onto the water and seeing the city. Learning about the immigration stories was also very interesting. My favorite part was ending the tour with some delicious snacks!

Our tour guide to this lovely trip was amazing. She’s very knowledgeable about the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. I’ve learned some history that I didn’t know as a New Yorker myself. One of the best tours I’ve taken by far, and delicious food. I highly recommend taking this tour. Thank you !
