What to expect
  • Meet your guide at the iconic Boston Public Library, close to public transport and parking in Boston’s vibrant Back Bay neighborhood. Start your walking tour by exploring Copley Square, where you’ll find historic architecture juxtaposed with gleaming skyscrapers: cross the finish line of the Boston Marathon, see the Romanesque lines of Trinity Church, and catch your reflection in the John Hancock Tower. Walk to the edge of Boston Public Garden to spot picturesque swan boats and the world’s smallest suspension bridge, then snap a ‘can't-miss’ photo of Acorn Street in Beacon Hill. Join the thin, red line of the Freedom Trail at the Massachusetts State House, and follow in the footsteps of early American colonists and revolutionaries. Learn why the Park Street Church was called ‘Brimstone Corner,’ see the graves of Paul Revere and John Hancock in the Granary Burial Ground, then see the 18th-century King’s Chapel. Continue to the Old and New City Halls, the Old State House, and the Boston Massacre Site, then finish your walk at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, near some of downtown Boston’s best restaurants and attractions.

Great introductory tour of Boston
Our guide, Alan, was great! Very friendly an most knowledgeable. He always spoke loud, which is important when you have a large group, in our case 14. Well worth the time and money! Great way to be introduced to Boston!

Fantastic tour guide!
This was a great was to spend a couple hours on a Sunday. Alan was our tour guide and he was absolutely fantastic! My son (16yo) and myself really enjoyed listening to his stories and recounts of history along the walk. There were five other people along on the tour, three of which were teens. He really had a knack for engaging that age group. We went at a nice pace and before we knew it, two hours had gone by and it didn’t even feel like it. Such a great way to learn some history while enjoying the sites of Boston.

Great tour!
Wonderful tour. By far the best and most informative walking tour I’ve been on. There is a lot of history in Boston and this tour was a great way to see the city and learn about it’s history.

Great walk
Sep 2019
Went walking through the streets of Boston and greatly enjoyed the history and design of these neighborhoods. Such wonderful buildings and so much to take in. Day was a little cold in the shadows but wonderful in the warmth of the sun. Definitely recommend a sweater or jacket.

Not a Freedom Trail tour!
Sep 2019
Even though this tour is named a Freedom Trail tour, it is not. Mostly it's a walking tour of some of the most popular spots in Boston, best for first time visitors of the city.

Roughly half the tour is Back Bay and Beacon Hill and the other half is the Downtown Freedom Trail. Both parts include some of the most popular and interesting spots in Boston. I'm sorry that was a surprise to you.

The freedom trail tour was overall very good with lots of interesting facts and stories about a part of Boston we hadn't really toured yet. It was a good experience but I had young kids who thought it a tiny bit boring.

Alan was our knowledgeable and humourous tour guide. Well worth doing this tour (or the one the other way) to give a good introduction to the history.

Perfect!
Jun 2019 • Couples
Alan was great! The tour was diverse covering the sequential history of the growth and development of Boston, history and architecture. Alan gave interesting facts delivered with a sense of humor! He was knowledgeable and interesting. Since Bob is a bit hard of hearing, it was important that our guide's voice be loud enough and clear enough for him to understand ~ Alan met the challenge!! We particularly were interested in how the Back Bay area of Boston was achieved. Alan's narrative was so thorough and informative. We really enjoyed our time touring Boston with such a fantastic guide!
