Guided San Fran/Sausalito bike tour
Nov 2021 • Couples
They happily got us our bikes, offered to take pics of us for us, and were so nice! Super friendly staff all around. Adam was our bike tour guide, and he is so knowledgeable, funny and sweet! He really loves his city and it shows. We accidentally left our ferry tickets at the desk when we left, and the same guy that helped us with our bikes and pics, rode them to where we were already at. Great experience, well put together, great things going on with their guest services! Nice work guys! Give those men a raise. 👍🏼Highly recommend, would totally come back!

Bike the Bridge!
Sep 2021 • Solo
I was in San Francisco in September and one of my goals was to bicycle across the Golden Gate Bridge, so I took the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito Guided Bike Tour. This tour goes from Fisherman‘s Wharf through the Marina district and stops along the way to discuss some facts about various locations, such as the Palace of Fine Arts. I had already experienced all of these sites before the tour, so I didn’t necessarily appreciate that part of it as much as others would. But I did appreciate having someone to lead me to the bridge and then into Sausalito. Next time I visit I will probably just rent a bicycle and go on my own now that I know where I’m going. But if you want to cross the bridge and ride into Sausalito and you haven’t done that before, I really recommend this tour. This route is described as “mostly flat”, but there are three hills on the way to the bridge, and I would say they are fairly rigorous. I am 56 years old and I bicycle three to four times a week, but I was a little worried about making it up these hills. (There is an option to rent an electric bicycle.) Entering Sausalito the hill is a fairly long and steep dissent. Biking across the Golden Gate bridge is definitely a great experience and Sausalito is a lovely town to spend a couple of hours in. I paid the extra fee and dropped the bike off in Sausalito, then took the ferry back to San Francisco. This was a great way to spend the day!

Incredible, awe-inspiring tour with these folks. The skillfull team at Bay City Bike was spot on from the counter check in, to the bike set up, and helping us iwth helmets, to the very tour end. They even offer a servcie to leave the bikes behidn in Sausalito- for a fee, of course, but all you have to do is call and they take care of the rest.
Judy was an exceptional guide and I coudl not praise this experience more. The best thing we did in our short stay in San Francisco!

Incompetent staff and defensive response full of excuses
Aug 2021
The actual tour was decent enough, but you could probably get a similar experience with a different vendor. The problem is with the check in and booking. We booked the night before through Air BnB, no indication of any issue. Show up the next morning, and they can't find our reservation. Instead of handling the matter simply, they tried over the next 15 minutes to convince me that I must have another name. Then we waiting another 1- minutes to finally get our bikes, which were in desperate need of servicing. Then when I gave an honest review, they completely denied any responsibility. Utterly incompetent. There are so many other choices, so go elsewhere for a better experience.

Best adventure
My husband took our daughter tandem. My 16-year-old rode his bike and then I had my own going over the bridge. It would have been a little tough for our nine year old because we saw a couple people crash on our adventure.
They really have to be very quick and comfortable to avoid crashes. Definitely one of our highlights of this trip.

Wonderful Tour with great views
Aug 2021
Great way to see a few of SFs beautiful sites: palace of fine arts, Golden Gate bridge, and Sausalito. Our guide, Blake, was knowledgeable and humorous, providing us insightful facts on the city with a few laughs along the way. You get a bit of every kind of terrain, from pavement to some dirt, and two inclines thrown in (nothing that cant be done in lower gear). We had a beautiful fog-less day and Blake made sure we knew we were getting a rare view of the bridge. A note to those with smaller children. The final part of the tour involves riding on the shoulder of a narrow roadway with a decent if not significant decline. We had a family on our tour who chose to walk the final leg of the tour because they were uncomfortable with having their young children ride the roadway. Bikes are able to take up the entire travel lane (Blake explained this law to us several times) but could still be scary for those not use to riding on a roadway with vehicles. Also, research the lunch locations on Sausalito ahead of time and try and book reservation prior to the day of the tour. Locations are limited and reservations fill up quickly and you only have so much time between when the tour ends and when the ferry depart as they do not run often. Overall, a great way to experience the city.

Judy, our guide, was beefy friendly and knowledgeable - telling us the history at various stops along the way. And Sausalito is filled w many shops and restaurants, too. I highly recommend this tour!
