Participation in the 2.5 hour Monument Valley tour adventure offers the perfect way to learn about the Navajo culture and to experience all the beauty and magic of Monument Valley! During the 2.5 hour tour through the restricted region of Monument Valley you will explore the sacred unforgettable homeland of the Navajo people. The first stop on your tour adventure will be John Ford's Point, a site that often featured in John Ford's western movies. You will then continue your journey further into the backcountry and you will visit the valley's second largest arch  Sun's Eye arch.  Discover some of the valley's oldest Anasazi ruins, petroglyphs and pictographs. Later you will hike the sand dunes at Ear of the Wind arch and walk inside the Big Hogan, known as Monument Valley's largest amphitheater, where your Navajo guide will perform a musical demonstration for you. On your next stop you will see the isolated group of spires known as Yei Bi Chei next to which stands one of the most well known peaks in the valley, Totem Pole a tall, red sandstone column. Before going back to the View Hotel, our guide will take you to Artists Point, a plateau that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the colorful Monoliths.

The views are worth the trip, the tour guide and experience are a bonus!
I enjoyed my experience and was overall impressed with what was offered. Our tour guide was Cody and he was fun and knowledgeable. He shared a lot of great anecdotes and I felt safe driving on the offroad when he was driving the truck. Along the way, we observed many vehicles being stopped or having trouble doing the offroading/scenic route. I suggest you only drive the offroad route in Monument Valley if you have a reliable vehicle and know which gears to change to. Cody took us to various view points and gave us time to get out and take photos. Overall, an amazing experience and my husband and I were all smiles the whole tour. Here are some tips: - Depending on the time of the year you go, please bring a eye protection, an N95 mask or a rag to cover your face from the dust/dirt from wind. - Bring water! At least two water bottles, as it is a four hour tour. - Bring water/soap to wash your hands or hand sanitizer/wipes. This is what you need before you eat at night. Also when you break for restrooms, you'll want to wash your hands after using as there is no running water. - I highly suggest bringing cash (small bills for tipping or just to buy a picture with a horse at John Wayne's point). Other than that, make sure your phone is charged for some amazing photos! The entertainment at night was fun. Cody got dressed and danced for us as others sang. The Navajo Tacos were delicious! The meat tastes like it's fresh, so it's on the tougher than normal side but is very deliciously seasoned! Bring some good utensils if you want to cut through the meat with ease. We went in October, so it was cold at night. I suggest bringing an extra jacket just in case. The weather is extremely unpredictable so be prepared. We were there and it was sunny during our tour but the next day it rained a lot. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and my husband and I were so grateful to learn about the culture of the Navajo. Thank you Simpson's Trailhandler Tours for the opportunity!

Unique and beautiful, wish it lasted longer.
I felt like we had the best tour guide for sure! He spoke of his childhood growing up in Monument Valley, he taught us some words from the hardest language in the world. Played music and shared things only he would know about the valley. And that’s what I really wanted, I wanted to be connected to the land and the people when I was there. Thank you Richard, all of his family, and the Dine, Nation.

      A Moving Experience for Me
This was well worth the money for the tour! Our Navajo guide, Cody, had a dry sense of humor, but he was knowledgeable about the various mesas. The ride is quite bumpy due to the roads being VERY SANDY (like beach sand only red from the mesas), rocky and unpaved. The roads we took were "Restricted Access" only available to the Navajo Guides. There was a 7 year old boy with us who enjoyed it because I told him it was like riding a "bucking bronco without a saddle"! The Wild West! Cody took us to a cove and showed us the Eagle's Head; then took a hand drum and chanted for us under the Eagle's Head. It was very moving & spiritual for me - I got very emotional. This chant connected me to the sights I was seeing & the feelings were more meaningful. Harold Simpson was one of the founders of Simpson's Trailhandler Tours and he gave a good history about the Navajo culture. He had 4 chants for us: Welcome Blessing, Birthday, Happy Anniversary, Protection while Cody donned Native garb and danced their Native dances around the campfire. The steak was a little tough, but tasty; the fry bread, veggies & beans were delicious. Sodas & water were provided at dinner. Yes, I would take this tour again! This time in a bigger group, like my whole family! J. Vito Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail....~RWE

      Magical evening in Monument Valley
Yesterday we had a truly great experience in Monument Valley with Jamie of Simpson’s Trail Handlers. Jamie’s professionalism is countered with his wack sense of humor and he had us in stitches. We signed on for the dreamcatchers tour that departed at 4:30. The late afternoon sun was the best for photography as the colors are vivid and the shadows add dimension to the fantastic rock formations. Jamie took us to the best spots for viewing and always offered to take photos of us from our smartphones. He used the pano feature to create fanciful photos of us against the stunning backgrounds. He’s also a talented musician and played the flute to advantage against the echoing canyons. That was epic! Our last stop was a traditional Navajo meal lit by a camp fire. We were treated to native dances accompanied by Jamie’s magical flute playing. It was an unforgettable evening!

      Incredible Tour
This was an amazing tour. We drove in Monument Valley the day before on our oun and was concerned we would just see the same thing. Cody was our driver, tour guide, entertainer, and camera expert. He took us on roads that are private, only for the tours. It was incredible to see the different structures and arches. Cody knew the names of everything and the history of the Navajo Nation. It was a great experience. We also had the Navajo Taco dinner by the bonfire with dancing and story telling. We truly enjoyed every minute of this tour and would do it again.

      A must do experience
The whole experience was so wonderful! The scenery is breathtaking, the music amazing and the guide informative and entertaining. We especially liked the flute playing, the extra attention to making sure we had the best camera shot and the storytelling around the campfire. The dinner itself was so so but it didn’t matter as the experience itself was beyond words.

Unforgettable Monument Valley Experience with Exceptional Guide and Service!
I had an incredible experience with Monument Valley Simpson's Trailhandler Tours! Booking through Ralph, the owner, was seamless, and he ensured all details were well-organized. Stanley, my tour guide, was knowledgeable and made the entire journey unforgettable. The sunset tour offered breathtaking views, and staying overnight in a hogan was a unique cultural experience. The sunrise tour was equally stunning, with Stanley's insights adding depth to the landscapes. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a deeper connection to Monument Valley's beauty and history!

      Best experience of our trip
Fabulous! Our sunset photo tour was great from the moment we met our guide, Donna. She was friendly, interesting, and thoughtful as she shared information about the geology, history, and her experiences guiding photographers and film crews through the valley. Donna led us at a comfortable attentive pace. Guiding us as we chased the light through areas we were unable to see on the self guided 17 mile drive. She noted when we wanted to capture a view and shared favorite spots with us. It was the most special experience of our Arizona Utah road trip. Thanks so much Donna

The Best Trip of West Amerika
SO GOOD ! A experience we will never forget. Our guide Cody was so good. Everything about the tour, dinner, Navajo culture and overnight in the Hogan and breakfast was more than we expected. Being outside at sunset, sunrise and night, looking up at the most stars you could ever imagine and realizing that you are in the middle of one of the most beautiful places in the world brought tears to our eyes. If you are looking for a luxury hotel and a restaurant this is not for you, or just well to learn what's really important. This is for those who know the true beauty of what the world is without all of the distractions.

      An evening to remember
We booked this tour a few days out. Speaking to Ralph a co-owner felt like speaking to an old friend. He was both helpful and knowledgeable. The directions to where the tour left were accurate and easy to follow. The trucks are well used but do a good job and the guides (we had Cody) was personable, knowledgeable and very happy to take photos and suggest places to go (such as the ear of the wind). You get some appreciation of the size of Monument Valley on this tour. The dinner and cultural aspect of the tour is also well done (don’t expect toilets out there, it is remote). You return to the View Hotel around 8.30-9.00. It’s a long afternoon but definitely worth it!

      Wonderful experience
This was a fantastic experience! Great setting out in the middle of Monument Valley under a massive cliff face at sunset and later, a full moon to highlight our group. The dancer, Kody (?), did his Stallion and Crow dance among other dances. The leader, Howard (?), also gave a pretty good explanation of the Navajo people and how the kids have to follow the blood lines when courting someone else. Interesting stuff. Only wish they'd given us an opportunity for Q and A at the end. Definitely recommend. Oh yeah, Rookie tip for us non- Americans: don't put the beans on your Navajo taco. It soaks it through and the whole thing collapses like a wet sandcastle. Go bean free!

      Jamie made this experience unforgettable
Absolutely LOVED this experience with Jamie as our guide. He was knowledgeable and entertaining and took some cool camera shots for all 8 of us. He got us to all the special places when no one else was around. His flute playing at The Big Hogan touched my soul. The meal at the end, along with a true Navajo singer and dancer was very cool. I WILL be back to do the overnight. Thank you, Jamie

      Once in a lifetime experience!
We had an overnight camping tour (not listed on the website). It was a unique, once in a lifetime experience! It was the full experience (no chemical toilets, tent had to be set up by ourselves). It was obvious this is not business as usual: the provided tent lacked tentpoles, so a new tent had to be provided. Sleeping bags were very good- the self inflatable mattresses were in bad shape, but good enough for the experience. It was a great experience. We were the only guests- it is magical to wake up in the middle of Monument Valley, have a great breakfast and experience the tranquility of the valley. Thanks again!

      This one is a keeper
What an amazing experience! We were met at the hotel by our guide and an open air bus/pickup. While we were on rough roads, and very sandy areas, the ride was comfortable and exhilarating as the sun began to set. Dinner was Navajo Tacos (fry bread and accouterments) and they were more than willing to accommodate the vegan in our party. At one point in the adventure, we were in a cave and our guide was singing and playing the flute as the clouds were passing over us.... You will not be disappointed.

We booked two tours with MV Simpsons, and had excellent communication from our initial enquiry through to the day of the tours. We woke on Wednesday morning to thick snow, but Ralph contacted and said the tours would still go ahead. As it was just the two of us, we sat in the cab with Ferrison (Cody) so kept warm, and had a very interesting and interactive tour, with plenty of photo opportunities. Despite the weather, Cody still took us to see everything on the itinerary and more, and drove carefully so that we felt safe. We are so pleased we booked MV Simpsons, and will post a review for the second tour as well.

Tour guide Richard is phenomenal and talented on so many levels. We have taken tours all over the world, but none have been as well done as Richard's. Having been raised in Monument Valley, his stories were wonderfully authentic. He not only is an excellent story teller, but he is a fabulous photo taker and that is what we really want from a tour... perfect memories. For some shots, "Ansel" laid on his stomach to capture the perfect background. He played traditional Navajo flute music for us. His tremendous sense of humor, which included imitations of John Wayne and Elvis, made our visit unforgettable. He and Ralph were very thoughtful and careful to make sure we were aware of the time differences between AZ and UT and substituted a closed van due to the windstorms in the Valley on the day of our tour. Plus the cost of the tour is reasonable.

Our guide, Richard, grew up in Monument Valley and shared his knowledge and insights on a wonderful back country tour. It was unhurried and took us to the right spots, explaining aspects of Navajo culture and history, advising on photography, playing his musical pipe, sharing his love of music.

Simpson’s, and Richard in particular, were recommended to us, and we do the same. We gained so much more than simply driving round the public part of the Valley

Our guide was phenomenal. In addition to explaining the monuments and geology of the area, he taught us alot about Navajo culture. The tour went in areas that were not on the open 17 mile ride. It was a marvelous experience that added a great deal to our visit to Monument Valley. Be aware that the jeep is an open vehicle, no roof, the seats are not well padded, and the road is extremely rough.

We had an incredible tour. Jamie (“Jam”) was amazing with our kids, who are ten and six. He was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and told us a great deal about his Valley and his people. We went into hogan, and got a weaving demonstration, and he even played flute for us in a cool echoing canyon. My kids will remember this trip, and their first meeting of the Navajo, for the rest of their lives.

We had a ten day trip in Arizona — Phoenix, Jerome, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, we visited ancient sites, museums, and great restaurants. “Jam” and the tour he gave us in Monument Valley were the highlight of our trip.

We chose this trip based on the high reviews we’d read about this company and we were not disappointed. We were worried about the heat but being in the truck with a shade over our head made it very enjoyable. Our guide, Cal, grew up in Monument Valley an shared with us not only information about the beautiful landscape but also the Navajo culture which made the experience that much out more enriching. Our children were ages 12-15 and all said it was more then they had expected. Cal played his flute for us as well as sang in his native language. This will be a memory we hold dear to our hearts.

We book this tour in December to be safe. As scheduled, we show up at the meeting point at 9.00 (8.50 to do everything calmly) and immediately receive the first very welcome surprise: we are alone! A pick-up and a guide, 3 hours just for the two of us!
It goes without saying that Monument Valley is magnificent, a unique spectacle! But beyond what you see in a thousand magazines and websites there is more... much more... much more! And with this guided tour we savored everything in depth, we experienced every detail, we fully appreciated every point of view, we enjoyed every glimpse.
The guide, Benny, friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, told us many details and ancient stories and legends that would otherwise have been almost impossible to know.
In addition to the valley and the main roads, we traveled along many secondary roads, accessible only to tours and which allowed us to visit places that would have been impossible to access independently.
Without this tour we would have enjoyed 50% of the beauty of the magnificent Monument Valley.
    Advice:
    - Even if the price is high, it is a tour that everyone absolutely must do, unknown and wonderful places! (See photo)
    - Book the tour before leaving, we were lucky to be alone, but this is not always the case
    - In the summer months the heat is scorching, hats and water bottles are a must
    - Don't forget that we are in the desert, snakes, scorpions and spiders are at home
    - Tipping the guide is strongly recommended, but it is still money well spent.
    - Make sure you have plenty of smartphone or camera memory!

Monument Valley was even more impressive in person than I had seen in pictures. Seeing it at sunset was even more impressive. Our guide enhanced the experience with his knowledge of the area and the best places to view the sites.
