Cultural Tour worth it
Sep 2021 • Family
Harry (Nez) was our tour guide and he was phenomenal. My 14-year-old son said he was cool. My son read the book, “Code Talker” last year so, Nez was sure to mention a lot of history about it. He was incredibly informative and patient. He excited my 17-year-old daughter with some helpful & cool camera tricks/ tips. He kept us all interested and engaged throughout the entire tour.

Wonderful guide through an ancient marvel
Our family of 4 (two boys ages 10 an 12) had a magical experience on the cultural your. Harry was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable about both the geology and the history - ancient and recent - of the Valley. He also told stories from his own life mixed in with more general traditions that made the telling very special. At one point my husband teared up by how overwhelmingly beautiful both the landscape and the stories were. I can't recommend it enough.

Tips:. As of August 18, 2021 Navajo nation and the park were still requiring masks, even outside, so come prepared. Also, do follow the instructions in your confirmation email to purchase your Monument Valley Park fee in advance. Having the reservation ready on my phone made entry very quick. The tour vegan and needed at the View, and we stayed there overnight, which made for an easier start (and it's also a stunning View from your room, particularly t sunrise. Finally, I believe they had water, but I'm not sure about snacks. We brought plenty of both so didn't need to ask - I was glad we had them as the tour is comprehensive and the kids benefitted from the pick-me-up.

Monument Valley 3.5 hour cultural tour
Jul 2021 • Family
One of the best tours I’ve ever taken in my life.
Very educational, very professional guide. His knowledge of Monument Valley and the history of the Navajo people was exemplary. The 3.5 cultural tour was comprehensive and delightful.
I highly recommend this type of tour for its thoroughness and in depth knowledge of Monument Valley and the Navajo People.
John was our guide.

Don't miss out on his fantastic tour!
Jul 2021
My 10-year old daughter and I took the Cultural Tour and it was really amazing. We booked it very short-notice (the night before), but Charlene was really accommodating and made sure we got exactly what we wanted. On the tour, we saw so many parts of the valley that we otherwise would never have been able to see, the jeep ride was really fun, and Harry, our truly amazing guide, told us so much both about the Valley as well as Navajo culture. We loved every second of it and learned a lot!

There was a problem in the beginning because I could not find my park pass (100% my fault), so we lost about 20 minutes with me scrambling to find it and I was sure that would come out of our tour time, but Harry still gave us the whole 3 1/2 hour tour, which was super kind. He also helped me take great pictures, and he helped my daughter climb a huge rock so she could take a picture of 'The Eye of the Sun.' And: when we came across wild horses (and my horse-loving daughter legitimately lost her little mind with happiness), Harry made an extra stop for us so we could watch them.

I seriously could not recommend them more!!!

Fantastic tour with Dineh Bekeyeh and John, our guide
We chose this 3.5hr cultural tour with Dinesh Bekeyeh pretty much at random, when faced with so many tour operators in Monument Valley ... and we are so pleased we did choose this one! The tour, with their absolutely fantastic guide John, was brilliant. John was very knowledgable, extremely helpful and very pleasant. We could not have had a better guide. He gave fascinating insights into all the MV sights, the Navajo people’s history and modern life, the geology of the area and so much more. We thoroughly recommend this company if this is the quality of tour they provide ... ask for John as your guide and you will not be disappointed.

We had a 3.5 hour tour on our own with our guide, Harry Nez Jr. He told us all about the culture of the locals and had extensive knowledge of all the sights. He allowed us to take as long or as short as we liked at each stop. Excellent service and thoroughly recommended

Derick was superb!
Jan 2020
Having visited Monument Valley a handful of times before, I was looking for a different experience this time around; therefore, the cultural tour caught my eye. Initially, I was afraid it might be the same Monument Valley tour I had been on before with the word "cultural" tacked on the title. My fears were immediately assuaged as it was uniquely different from the other standard Monument Valley tours I had been on in the past. We went much more in depth into the history, language and culture of the Díne/Navajo Nation. Derick taught us not only the Anglo names and stories behind the buttes, but the Navajo names and legends as well. He shared personal stories from his own family history. We discussed how history is taught differently between different groups. He taught us not only Navajo words, but broke down the meaning of them for us. We got to visit a hogan and watch a woman there weaving. She also asked for a volunteer to demonstrate a traditional Navajo bun. I volunteered and she brushed my hair with buffalo grass and styled it up. Incredible! I particularly enjoyed our conversation about racial definitions - i.e. whether to use the term indigenous, Native American or Navajo. In today's world, race and the construct of it is constantly shifting. It was interesting for me to learn how different generations view it. And I believe Derick had the best answer I have ever heard. He said he prefers the term Díne. When I'm in the Valley I like to use the term Díne, because I always thought it was the most respectful. Derick went even deeper and broke down the word itself, the story behind it and the meaning of each syllable. Such amazing depth! Finally, he also spoke about how much he enjoys working for the company running the tour. As as small business owner and employer myself, that is music to our ears! To hear that he feels respected in his work, valued by his employer and truly loves what he does was the icing on the cake. Honestly, this tour could not have been better. Highly recommend.

limited due to weather
Dec 2019
Mother Nature and the park decided to close the road for cars and tour trucks to go through Monument Valley. We had confirmed with the tour company that our tour was still on before we drove 3 hours to get there and they said yes. When we arrived they said the roads were closed and tours were cancelled. The tour company did refund us the money. The restaurant and gift shop was packed since it was snowing and cold outside. What we saw was limited but it will be worth to try again

Wonderful guide and tour
Nov 2019
My husband and I had a wonderful tour of Monument Valley with Dineh Bekeyah tours. Our guide, Steven, grew up close to Monument Valley and knew four of his great grandparents, so he could tell us about Navaho traditions from personal experience. Since it was just the two of us with our guide, we enjoyed lots of good conversation. When we visited the hogan, he provided the interpretation of the items there, and another larger tour group from a different company came in and really took advantage of his knowledge. Their guide stayed outside and Steven graciously answered their questions. It was definitely worth doing the 3 1/2 hour cultural tour since you get to see about 11 miles of the area that is only accessible with a guide, in addition to the 17 miles that tourists can visit on their own. The scenery is spectacular! Note that the first section of road going down to the valley is rough and steep and really requires a 4wd with moderately high clearance. Save your car and go with a knowledgable guide -- it's well worth the cost!
