Elmer was in contact from the time we booked to the time we got dropped off. He and his team were punctual and very informative. We had a really great time touring Tikal with Elmer. Highly recommend!!

We had a wonderful day at Yaxha with Elmer. He had a lot of information to share with us and was an excellent guide. The weather cooperated (no rain!) and the howler monkeys serenaded us as we walked through the forest and hiked up the ruins. We also saw an eagle and many other beautiful birds. Elmer was hands down the best tour guide we have ever had (and we've had a lot) - his knowledge about Tikal and his passion for what he does is absolutely amazing! I honestly couldn't recommend him enough, he made this tour the absolute most amazing experience - it was fun (even though t was hot and pouring rain on/off), we learnt so much and overall couldn't of asked for anything more or better

I went on the Tikal sunrise and Yaxha sunset tours with Elmer and had an amazing experience! Elmer is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and very passionate about his work. He truly wants his guests to have the best experience. After using his services, I wouldn’t think about using another company. Even the locals in Flores say that Elmer is the best tour guide. We had a fantastic morning with Elmer. We booked a sunrise tour, and Elmer communicated with us early and often to ensure we had a meeting time, all the appropriate gear, and our necessary park tickets. During the tour, Elmer made us feel safe and comfortable, being sure to point out tripping hazards and any animals to be aware of when we walking or taking a seat. Most importantly, his passion and excitement for both Mayan history/culture and the animals and plants of the rainforest made for a fantastic experience. As a private tour, we got to go at our own pace, ask a million questions, and take routes/see areas less frequented by tourists. His knowledge was incredible! Whether you want to know about local birds, medicinal plants, or Mayan sports - this is your guy!

What an amazing experience!!! A must do in everyone checklist!! But believe me, Elmer (the guide) makes the difference, big time. No doubt, I’ll go with Elmer in my next trip to Guatemala.

Elmer was a great guide! He has broad knowledge about Mayan archeology and history, showed us all aspects of the magnificence of Tikal. He’s also knowledgeable about the jungle, showed us unique animals and plants there. He made our trip much better than expectations!

Elmer brought us on a wonderful tour through Tikal! I was the leader of a student group and this is the 2nd year in a row Elmer has been our guide---and we would be lucky to have him for a few more years! We stayed overnight in the park and Elmer met us there before heading into the archeological area. Elmer's knowledge of the flora and fauna of this beautiful area, as well as the people who have inhabited it, is truly special and shines through in the way he speaks about the place. His ability to deliver information in both English and Spanish made his knowledge that much more impressive. And, if you're lucky enough to book him, you'll experience the most wonderful part of it all---the kind presence and warmth that he carries himself with, making you feel like family even though you are probably thousands of miles from home. I am so thankful to Elmer for the hospitality that he showed to me, my co-leaders, and my students, and we will carry with us the knowledge that he passed on.

If you are looking for the best experience in Tikal I recommend you go with Elmer. He’s very knowledgeable answered all our questions (he knows much about astronomy! Ask he might tell your future lol ). They’re very passionate about their job, it is a local tour company which supports the local economy. 10/10 experience You will not get disappointed.

I went with Elmer to Yaxha and Tikal on back to back days, and it was something I will remember forever! He’s extremely educated on the Mayan civilization and each city’s history. Great with dates and timelines. He is unbelievably educated on their histories, and the nature around as well. You will see so many jungle animals!! I cannot recommend this tour more. He will cater the tour to your interests organically, and is a fantastic photographer!! I will be returning to Guatemala and going more places with him, and back to Tikal as soon as I can. Truly a wonderful experience.

Elmer was an unbelievable guide!! He took me all over the entire city of Yaxha and was able to answer all of my questions about the Mayan Civilization, the city of Yaxha itself, and the nature around us in the jungle. Extremely educated!! He knew so many details about every structure from their creation, use, and their excavation. We saw more animals than I can count, and he was able to tell me so many detailed and interesting facts about them all. Great photographer as well! Could not recommend this tour more.

Booking with Elmer was easy and convenient. He provided instructions on how to cross the boarder and was waiting right there upon my arrival. Getting to Tikal was a beautiful drive, and the site was spectacular to explore for the day! Highly recommend this service, especially if you are looking for a good day trip outside of Belize!

I had a great experience with Tikal VIP Tours. Elmer, the owner and guide is very knowledgeable (a university trained historian), very gracious and an overall good person with great pride in Guatemala’s history and culture. I saw some of the other tour groups rushing through the main sites, but Elmer took me to some hidden gems, and really made my trip special. I also loved the door to door service in a private new SUV. Definitely recommend booking with Tikal VIP!

Amazing experience! Tikal VIP was efficient with communication and prepared us with a list of what to bring to the ruins. We were picked up from our hotel around 3:30am in a van with AC and a cooler full of water bottles. The driver was super nice and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Tikal national park. The hike up to the ruins was so surreal and the overlook was breathtaking. Even though it was cloudy in May we were able to see the ruins and we brought binoculars for birdwatching. It was just my boyfriend and I on the tour so the guide tailored it to what we liked! He showed us a cool app that listens to the birds chirping and tells you exactly what type of birds are around you. We did get to see the sun peek out eventually and enjoyed the magic of the ruins in the morning. The timing of the tour is perfect because it was fresh in the morning and got so hot outside around 11ish when our tour was ending. The breakfast was onsite and just a short walk away from the ruins. It was so perfect after a long hike with plenty of options and delicious fresh juice. Definitely worth waking up so early for this experience!!!

Our tour with Elmer was fantastic. He gave lots of interesting information and showed us highlights of Tikal we surely would have missed had we gone by ourselves.
