We enjoyed learning about the Battle of Franklin and wished we could have taken pictures in the houses. While inside the houses, the rooms felt crowded because our tour group was very full. The tour guides were very knowledgeable.

Overall, the tour was very insightful and educational. Terry was extremely knowledgeable and answered all questions posed to him. Our only complaint is that we felt like we were rushed at the first two homes. We would have liked to have had more time to explore the grounds at the Carton and Carter houses. As well, there wasn’t much time to eat lunch and shop as the description of the tour states. We would recommend the tour to anyone who has an interest in the Civil War but plan on it being a no nonsense tour and be on time for the bus.

We had never heard about this pivotal Civil War battle but learned of the Lotz House when we visited nearby Nashville. Very interesting home and back story! And the battle that took place in this small town was instrumental in the outcome of the war. The docent staff were amazing. They were so knowledgeable and presented the information in such an entertaining way.

If you're in the area, be sure to visit!

Wonderful tour! The tour leaders at each stop were extremely knowledgeable about each location. Our bus driver was also very good- he shared a lot of historical information and I learned a lot about the area history from him. He even pointed out areas where stars lived, performed and performed. great tour!

We ended up having a private tour because no other customers bought tickets for the day we went. I felt like we were catered to a little more than we might have been in a group setting. Our driver was Terry. He was a wealth of knowledge and talked almost the entire time we were with him. Carnton and Carter House were fabulous and full of so much amazing history. Lotz House was a little less impressive to me. The lunch break is barely long enough to find something to eat so don't mess around. We ate at Puckett's. It was good. There are places closer to the bus stop though.

Our driver was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Was a very special time in history and unless you try and see it with the lense of what it might have looked back then hard so do with today hustle and bustle. Guides and Carnton and Carter homes were very good at trying to capture the idea, feeling, carnage without grotesque visuals. So many men died and the town of Franklin was left to pick up and take care of the injured and dead. The time in your own to walk in the ground is very limited. The guide at Lotz house was a bit hyper and spoke a lot about herself and experiences that didn’t really relate to the tour. The description of the rooms and lifestyle of the working home should

This is one of the best tours in Franklin. If you are looking to see what life was like in Tennessee back in the 1800's, then don't miss this tour. Our tour guide was fantastic. He was both friendly and knowledgeable. He encouraged the guests to ask as many questions of they wanted and he answered each one. He didn't just talk about the house, but also included the events surrounding the Battle of Franklin during the Civil War. If you are either a Civil War buff or like touring old homes, this tour is for you.

Family
My daughter and I took this tour and we loved it. The guides were all very knowledgeable and the story of each house and the families that lived there were very interesting and inspiring. There is so much history we learned a lot in a short time. Only draw back there was to much time allotted for the first two houses and it was raining so we had a half hour of down time in each place otherwise trip moved along and the driver kept us interested with additional fun facts even pointing out homes of some of Nashville’s stars on drive back. I Would recommend this tour especially for the history buff!!

This was very informative and the tour at the Carter house gave me chills because of how well they described the events that occurred during the Battle of Franklin. I would highly recommend this tour for everyone, even if you're not a history buff. It's very educational and gives you a glimpse into the past and the horrors of the Civil War.

We only went to the Carnton. The lady who gave the tour of the house was so good. She was very knowledgeable. We could tell she has a heart for this place and was so good at sharing all the details about the family and the battle that took place. I would highly recommend going to the Carnton. I'm sure the others were good too. We just did not have the time to do them all.
