The deserted island of Inishlacken is full of wildlife rugged beauty and some amazing beaches, with Roundstone and the Twelve Bens in the backdrop. It is a truly amazing place. Watch out for more wildlife on the way through the Roundstone bay. And why not pull a lobster pot along the way to watch with excitement what comes over the rail? You can then walk around the island and enjoy the wildlife or just relax on one of the beaches and take in the amazing views.

      Priceless experience
The boat trip had been recommended by a family member and it was so amazing! The weather helped but our guide Damien was outstanding. He was personable, kind and made everyone feel comfortable immediately. A couple of our party were nervous but were relaxed and at ease instantly after chatting to Damien. The sites were beautiful and the dolphins even came to welcome us. It was a highlight of our trip and I would recommend highly.

      Top class
Great experience with Damien. From the first phonecall booking the trip to getting off the boat Damien was so professional and courteous. He also had all the knowledge of the area and our kids loved seeing the lobsters and how the boat operated. Simply a must if your in Roundstone

      Great experience
Damien was very pleasant and accommodating from our first contact. The boat tour exceeded our expectations, checking lobster pots, catching a few mackerel and lots of local information. We will be back to sample lobster lunch sometime soon.

What an unbelievable experience i had on this tour, Damien was a fantastic lovely guide and had so much knowledge of his local area. He made a very beautiful lobster lunch and we pulled some pots. I loved every minute. I have done a few adventures around Ireland but this was my favourite by far. From the food, scenary & beautiful Roundstone area, this was really exceptional. I would recommend anyone going west of Galway to do this.Thank you so much again Damien.

Had a great local experience with Damian. He showed the Roundstone water perspective culminating in a visit to an island with the best beach we have seen Europe. The day was great so we even had a chilly dip. The local lobsters are a sight behold too.

Innishlaken is the island of our family ancestry. Damian created a wonderful family experience there for three generations of our family, including a delicious shore lunch, a knowledgeable tour identifying the spot our ancestors lived, and a brace of mackerels caught by the grandies. We will long carry gratitude and great memories of the experience Damian created for us. Thank you, Damian!

Damian, our skipper, turned a vey iffy morning (pouring) into a splendid day. He gave us the option of having our lobster lunches here and going to the island by boat tomorrow. We took a chance and headed to the island. The rain stopped and he pulled up on the Lee and we had our fabulous lunch (all local produce and home prepared) on board, washed down with a few glasses of NZ Sauv Blanc. We went out with Damian last summer in 28c and spent a few hours on Inisklaken before he returned for us. Damian is a local and knows every rock in the sea. It’s a very safe boat and he is a great skipper. Couldn’t recommend the experience highly enough,

Outstanding time with Damien. This was by far the best part of Roundstone! The island walkabout was exciting, as was the boat ride and Damien's knowledge of the area. The kids enjoyed pulling up some lobster pots, and he had some fishing kit for the kids. They managed to catch a small mackerel which Damien gutted for them. He even let them take turns driving the boat for a bit. We enjoyed our time with him, he was great craic!

Amazing trip with Damien and Max! We had a great day and even caught two mackerel! Inishlacken is the most beautiful place, we had a walk and a picnic before returning to Roundstone. Could not recommend this trip enough.

Really fun trip around the beautiful bay. Landed us at a stunning beach. Also let us help get a lobster or two out of a pot! Damien gave us a lot of local knowledge and history and was very engaging. Boat was comfy for 4 of us. Highly recommend

I would highly recommend the landing tour. Damien was very friendly, nice and knowledgeable from start to finish. We had a beautiful lobster lunch prepared by Damien on the beach at Inishlacken (deserted island in Roundstone Bay). The food was delicious (fresh lobster, salads and very tasty homemade cookies). We had a picnic on the beach on the island. A wonderful setting! Inishlacken is great for a peaceful, disconnected ramble. In addition to that - we had great fun pulling up lobster pots, fishing for mackerel and enjoying the beautiful Connemara views back towards Roundstone, Erisbeg and the 12 Bens. Benbaun is a beautiful little boat. V comfortable. Did the trip with my wife and 3 children (aged 12, 10 and 2).

What a lovely day out! We lucked out with the weather, the beaches looked like the Caribbean. Damien was really friendly and flexible, and our boys loved being able to hold a massive starfish and crab. They also got a chance to steer the boat. Thanks for a great trip, Damien.

For anyone who has ever ventured to the West of Ireland in general, you know that the landscape and coastlines are second to none. If you've gone to whole hog and made it to the wilds of Connemara then you may have found yourself at the least driving through, or at the best, stopping in, the beautifully picturesque village of Roundstone, Co. Galway. It is nestled into the coastline just beyond the line of the 12 Bens range and in itself it's a gorgeous location. I will admit we are biased having holidayed here for the past 13 years but having frequented many more times in our lives.

Often overlooked by travellers along the Wild Atlantic Way as they make their way north along the coast towards more well known Clifden, it would be a mistake not to stop in Roundstone and explore. For those who do, there are a multitude of delights in store from wonderful pubs and eating places, to well-informed locals with an abundance of knowledge of the townlands and history of this tiny village.

One such local is Damien O'Malley, a fourth generation fisherman from the area and who knows not only the land, but the coastline and waters too, like the back of his hand. Seafaring born and bred, Damien offers amazing and uniquely personal trips out on his eco-friendly boat. I think it's known as a crabber but don't quote me because I am not a mariner but being out on the water is something I love to get to do, albeit infrequently.

This summer having been tied to land and home for far too long, we decided on our trip West that we would try out the new service offered by Damien at Roundstone Bay and Island Tours. We opted for the 1 hr Eco-tour, which took us out of Roundstown Harbour, into the bay and for a fabulous trip all around the coastal waters. We passed Inishnee on our left as we motored out (I need to learn some nautical terminology) and went onward towards the island of Inishlacken. It's deserted now and Damien has a tour that drops you off for a picnic and a wander, picking you up later. I would love to do that on the next tour.

We have swam in these waters for years, but seeing them from the sea as opposed to the land, really allows you to appreciate just how crystal clear and unpolluted they are. We are frequent visitors to the wee beach at Erlough, the delights of pier jumping at Whale Harbour and long leisurely days on the beaches of Gurteen, Dog's Bay and of course Lady's Cove as well as the Tombola that crowns these gorgeous treasures. The boat trip with Damien though has given us a view we had never seen before, and appreciation for the landscape that we just never had, standing on the land.

If you are looking for a mini adventure with family or friends...
If you have reached the realisation that material possessions mean nothing when faced with a lack of freedom and opportunity to explore...
If you want to create magical moments and memories to last lifetimes with your little ones or not so little ones..., then contact Damien.

His local knowledge, warm persona and geniune, good-natured, Connemara charm will have you talking about your Roundstone Bay and Island tour for years to come. This has been our first such adventure, but it is most certainly not our last. We already know we are doing the 'Drop Off' tour next as we really want to explore Inishlacken and we may even put the Lobster Lunch on the Menu for ourselves for next year's annual pilgrimage to this incredible corner of Ireland.

The business is on all the socials. I came across it via one of the most popular ones.
I'd make my booking sooner rather than later, not wait until you get to Roundstone or Ireland and do it well in advance because this gem is going to be busy with those who want to experience Ireland's natural, raw beauty in a little pocket of paradise.

I'm delighted to see the business has started because I've always wanted to see this area from the water but thought it would be out of my budget. Not so, its absolutely doable and well worth it too. Don't forget a sunhat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Even on an overcast day, you'll get windburn. No harm to have some wee nibbles and some water on board with you too, even if you're only taking the 1hr tour and as always when going 'to sea', let someone know when you're going and when you're due back.☺️🛥
