Our tour guide, Lizzy , was very knowledgeable and described the people and events in an engaging and entertaining way that kept my attention and interest. I enjoyed learning more about this time period in Chicago's history; however, I would have liked more emphasis on the mob history and seeing more of the buildings and places that mob activity took place, as that was my main interest and reason for taking the tour, and less "ghosts". I do know that time is limited and it is hard to get everything in. All in all I did enjoy the Gangsters and Ghosts tour- the tour was well organized, Lizzy is a great guide, I learned some new things about the mobs in Chicago, and I enjoyed the ghost stories. One frustration was that when I booked the tickets there was no mention of different rates for different ages. Only one rate was shown. Even though we had a toddler with us I ended up paying the same for his ticket as no other options were shown on the "booking" site. But on my confirmation email it said I had purchased all adult tickets, and i later learned that children under 6 were free. So we ended up paying $35 extra for our tour.

We booked this tour online about $40 per person for 4 pm. We were requested to meet 30 min before at a hotel. We were waiting on the wrong side and walked over. There were some guides around. We checked in with one of them. The first guide felt like a school teacher and so when we were asked to swap out to another guide we took the opportunity. We went with Kai, she was informative and funny. We walked around, took opportunities for photo shots. We learnt about Al Capone, ghosts in the river, serial killer and infamous hotels around the area. We stopped at Palmer hotel to enjoy the decor. It was interesting. Definitely carry water, wear good shoes, sunglasses.

What a fun journey! Lizzy, our tour guide, was an energetic story teller that blended history and ghost lore together delightfully. For gangster history and ghost/spirit enthuisiasts this tour is for you. It is a walking tour with one rest stop towards the end; so empty your bladder before your journey! Get to the gathering EARLY. There wasn't a tour sign at the gathering site so you might have to ask "are you with Gangsters and Ghosts tour." Depending on the season... We went on the 8 o'clock tour in early September and it was perfect. The night lights were awesome and so was the weather. I can only imagine that as the season changes one may prefer the "warmer" day tour.

A great and fun tour. Our tour guide Rosa was very engaging and gave us information and stories on Chicago we would have otherwise missed. Would recommend this tour to all visitors to Chicago who have an interest in the history of this great city and some of the more 'spookier goings on'.

My hubby and I have done alot of walking tours in other city's and this one we found a bit underwhelming. We normally join the free tours where you pay at the end to how much you think the tour is worth. But there weren't any available so we booked on this one. At $30 per person this really wasn't worth that amount and then the tour guide wants a tip! It's only 1 hour 45mins tour and 15 minutes of that is a break in the historic palmer House Hotel. It was great to go in there but there wasn't any need to have a 15min break on over an hour tour!
The guide was mediocre, he never really finished the stories fully and when questioned he didn't know the answers. I wouldn't recommend this especially on just the price alone. Find a free tour and tip them - they are normally great.

I haven’t had this much fun on a walking tour before. Andre really took the opportunity to perform the facts of the tour it felt like I was at a cross between campfire stories/history lesson/entertaining performance. Definitely recommend whether it’s the first thing you do in Chicago (like I did) or if you’ve done the rest of the tourist checklist

Right away our tour guide gave us third grade rules such as not taking up space on the sidewalk and asking for her consent when taking photos if she is in the frame. I've had funner ghost tours with guides that played the character. The price is inflated, a better value would be around $20.

Coming to Chicago for 22 years - I sure know all the buildings and have seen them all many times. To get a history lesson about them was very interesting and I highly recommend to do this almost 2 hour tour ! Rosa, our guide was very nice and friendly.
She speaks out loud so everyone can understand it, even if the "L" runs close by ;-)
I think I liked the spooky part of the Ghost stories even more, but that's just me.

Our tour guide was Andre and both my wife and I thought he did an outstanding job. Andre was very knowledgeable but what really made this so worth it was his humor and his “side stories” any time he could fit one in. His energy and personality took it to another level.
I recommend this tour mainly because of how it was presented to us and our tour guide specifically. We both took much away from it with things we never knew. His binder he shared with the group with pictures so we could see what he was describing was a home run.
Thank you again Andre for a great fun day.

A good insight into the gangsters of Chicago. While the ghost element was also good, recommend taking the tour at night to enhance that part of the tour. Unfortunately we took the tour when it was still daylight.
Tour guide Conor was very informative and had a very well prepared script at all points of interest.
Thought the size of the tour group was a little too large as it was difficult at times to be close enough to hear the guide. Perhaps a slightly smaller group size or a voice amplifier.
