My wife and I had always talked about going out on a tall ship cruise. We were passing through Chicago and saw our chance. Booking online was extremely easy. If you think you will want a drink or snack while sailing go ahead and purchase their discounted booty dollars in advance. Most cocktails are $10 and other drinks and snacks range from $2-$4 dollars. Once out on the lake, sails are raised and you sit back and enjoy the views. It is a relaxing and refreshing experience. We highly recommend going, especially if you ever wanted to go sailing on a tall ship.

This was one of the most memorable attractions during our family vacation in June. Although rain was expected the morning of our departure the captain and crew were ready to set sail. The ship was spacious, clean and did not feel crowded as passengers were well spaced out. We absolutely enjoyed the spectacular views of the city skyline and being on the openness of lake Michigan aboard a large sailing ship. The captain and crew were all very friendly and able to answer the many questions I had. I also participated in helping to hoist the sails and surprisingly took more effort than I was expecting. Due to severe weather and a tornado warning our Captain had to cut our tour a bit short and got us back to the Navy Pier safely before directing us to the garage location to take cover from the tornado warning. This is one attraction our family really enjoyed and I highly recommend the Tall Ship Windy!

We had a nice time, my recommendation is to get the VIP pass as you will get to board first, and get a good seat, otherwise you will be in a cattle line and at the end the seats are down in the bottom with poor visibility.

We sat in the back, we could see the skyline as well as watch the sail hoisting and the captain pilot the ship.

A nice relaxing trip.

In my opinion, this ‘business’ is running a racket and is an embarrassment to Chicago. I paid for a party of seven (7) and we missed the ship. The ship horn was blowing and the ship was pulling off as we approached the window. It was 5pm on the dot. To be fair, the cancellation policy indicated the booking was not refundable, if buyers missed the sail time.

Tall Windy City however is greedy and unfair. We left for the cruise at exactly 3:35pm from a location eight (8) miles away from the ship. Traffic was at a snail’s pace and it took us 55 minutes to arrive at the Navy Pier. Once we arrived, it took us at least an additional 15 minutes to park in the parking garage Tall Ship Windy uses.  We were visitors to Chicago and unaware. We allowed ourselves a full hour to get to Tall Ship WIndy. I am certain Tall Ship Windy is aware of the Chicago traffic as well as the time it takes to park. I am also sure that scores of people have missed the boat for the same reason and have not been refunded - the racket.

My party consisted of two (2) seniors (ages 80 and 84) and two (2) children (ages 5 and 7). Having parked with seven (7) minutes to get to the ship, the older and younger people in our party were not able to walk fast enough. Tall Ship Windy did not care. One person in our party ran ahead and asked Tall Ship Windy to wait, but Tall Ship Windy refused.

Tall Ship windy also refused to refund the money we paid them in advance, even though the sign in the window said the 5pm cruise was sold out, as well as the 7pm. Really, Tall Ship Windy? You already had all the money. It is clear the greedy policy is placed above patrons - pirates will be pirates.

We are sincerely sorry that you missed your sailing excursion, which did leave on time at 5:00 PM. Unfortunately, although it is not always in the customer's favor, businesses which are venue-based with limited guest capacity, must set policy which, to some degree, protects the business from loss. So, similarlly to such businesses, as theatre performances, concerts, airline flights, ferry rides, and museum special exhibits, we also have a no refund/no exchange policy. This is a common feature of venue businesses, not an attempt at exploitation of the customer.

A pleasant ride on a sailing ship. You can help raise the sails. While there was a running commentary it was mostly humorous, not much was said about the maritime history of the city or its skyline. You spend about 45 minutes under sail as the ship must power out of the harbor area.

It was a fabulous sailing outing on the tall ship Windy ! The whole experience was top notch - from the patient and informative women working the customer service booth to the safety minded and expertise of Captain Rob and his crew it was so enjoyable. The interactive crowd participation from raising sails, cheers and steering the boat made it so much fun and relaxing. Looking forward to doing it again next time we are in town !

The crew has an excellent working realtionship and everyone seems to know what they are suppose to do and when to do it with a bit of theater and considerable skill. The crew members are very helpful and eagerly cooperated in taking family pictures. When our youngest granddaughter started feeling queasy a crew member was quick to offer some ginger beer to settle her stomach. Highly recommend.

I've been wanting to do for a couple of years and finally got to go. It was so nice and relaxing. They played music the whole time, some pirate themed and some pop & rock. The crew was fantastic! Watching them hoist the sales & bring them down was interesting. The announcer was funny, making jokes about stuff falling over they won't go back for but a child or person they will. They had drinks to buy onboard and gifts. There was a restroom inside. I would definitely go back to Chicago just for this.

If you like sailing boats vs. power boats this tour is perfect! It's a family owned business so you get more personalized attention. Crew and staff are polite and always smiling. We chose the 5 pm and was perfect after a day walking in the city, very relaxed. The ship had lots of space to seat comfortably. Loved the experience!

My family and I had a wonderful time sailing on this marvelous ship. My kids enjoyed helping pull the ropes to open the sails and steer the boat with the captain! It was a perfect sunny day with a nice wind. The view of Chicago from the boat was breathtaking. It was really fun. I highly recommend this tour! Sit on the right side because you get the best views. That’s what we did!!
