Horrible experience. Save the money and do a walking tour!
Nov 2021 • Friends
The only positive thing about the tour was that the bus was covered, so we didn’t have to die from cold, and the audio had several languages available.
Things to improve: the bus driver was singing and speaking very loudly during the tour, so it was very hard to hear the audio with the headphones they give you (so bring good headphones with noise reduction in case you come). Also, they didn’t let us finish any of the audio clips. They kept skipping them so we didn’t fully understand any of the explanations.

Holiday family fun!
We always take a Bug Bus Tour as soon as we get to a new city! The tour gives great information as well as giving a solid “lay of the land” before we start exploring on our own. The tour is very informative and covered all of the major attractions! We love the Bug Bus Tour!

Needs to improve.
Locations are nice but they need to run more buses. We were on one bus that stopped at the State Street loop and were told that we had to wait until 12 noon a 20 minute wait to continue.

There was no explanation of why we had to wait.

Look for the driver named Brandon!
My wife and I were in Chicago for 3 days. We purchased a two day pass. The first day, it rained all morning, stopping around 3pm, Brandon was our first driver as we boarded around 1 pm. He presented an interesting narrative as we passed parks, buildings, and museums. We made note of the places and attractions that we wanted to visit the next day. The next day, we walked to the nearest stop and while waiting for the next bus, we took pictures. The bus came but while waving at the driver to wait as my wife can’t run. It left us. We got a Chicago Hot Dog, excellent! The next driver took us to Navy Pier. Enjoyed. Caught another bus to the Magnificent Mile. Shopped, the next driver was Brandon again, he said, didn’t I see y’all yesterday?! Hallelujah! In a nutshell, look for Brandon. He made our short trip memorable! He made our vacation! I’ll look for him next year. Thanks Brandon!!!

This is by far, the worst city tour ever! It cost $49.00 to ride around Chicago and see buildings with no narration except a tape. We had to ask if there were ear phones- no one offered them to us. It was raining so we could not see out of the foggy windows-so why was their a tour that day? They should have cancelled it!
No stops were announced- so we had to ask for our stop.
I would not recommend this tour to anyone!

Bigbus night your in Chicago!
I was very disappointed with this because I tried to cancel, but if I cancelled, I wouldn't get my money back. We decided to go on the excursion at 7:30p, but missed it because we could not find the pickup spot. I tried to call TripAdvisor, but didn't get a response then I called bigbus to see where the pickup was, but couldn't get a response. Eventually, we found it. We got there at 7:29. The bus was gone. I wasted $52.

Watch for Branches!
Oct 2021
I like to take the touristy buses like this on my first day in a new city. It gives you some general history and info as well as helping you get a good lay of the land for future exploring. Just watch your head for branches if you're sitting on the open top deck!

The Good and the Bad
We boarded the bus Thursday Oct 21 at the Field Museum—stop 7. We were greeted—if you can call it that—by a surly driver who did not offer us headphones. (You can plug them in and listen to a rather silly tour narration. ) For the first half hour our driver did not speak. We did not know his name. We had no narration. Finally we stopped at the Navy Pier stop and we were told to get in a line at the front of the bus to get our tickets scanned by someone stationed at that stop. It took the scanner about 15 minutes to “scan” 3 tickets. Not an efficient process.

During this “break” another tourist up front went up to Mr. Silent and asked if he had headphones. The tourist got a handful of headphones and passed them out to everyone on the bus.

THEN—our driver went to the River Walk stop and growled the only words he spoke the whole time: “It’s my lunch break. You gotta get off and get on the bus in front of us.” No have a nice day, enjoy the rest of your tour—nothing.

But getting on a different bus was a blessing! Anton was our driver. He cheerfully introduced himself and narrated the rest of the tour. It was humorous and informative. He was a wonderful tour guide!!!

Chi-Town, Bean Town, the Windy City. We will be back!
Being a first time visitor to Chicago it was both informative and beautiful. The bus takes you to 12 or so attractions that are a must see while in Chicago.
