We visited the day before Christmas Eve almost right when it opened. It wasn’t too crowded and they have some nice exhibits. Right when you walk in, there is a fun exhibit where you can touch jelly fish. It was a cool experience. Then you go upstairs to the main area. Highlights there were the variety of fish we had not seen before. They have a nice walk through what is similar to an outdoor nature walk in Florida. I especially loved getting to see them feed the otters. There was a section for lemurs, but it was very small and kind of disappointing. They had a section for petting sting rays, but we had just gone to a similar one at my zoo in Columbus two days prior and that blew this one away so it made it seem just ok. The aquariums are plentiful and we were able to see several feedings which was fun. Other areas of interest-there is a really expansive gift shop (probably more for kids 10 and under) and a splash pad outside. One negative, $10 parking. Also, the price of admission is a LOT for what you get considering it is maybe a 2-3 hour visit. We have a zoo pass from our town which gave us 50% off so check for discounts.

Overall this was a nice aquarium. The exhibits were well done and many of them seemed like natural habitats. There also seemed to be a good variety of animals as well. Sadly we were on time constraints as we needed to get back to Jacksonville. If you are a member of another zoo they do offer half off admission however sadly you do have to pay $10 for parking. There were also interactive exhibits which was nice and if you have smaller children they have a really nice Splash Pad were the kids and adults can have fun. While it’s not as nice as the Aquarium of the smokies in Gatlinburg it was still nice. You could easily spend 2-3 hours or more there!!

The Florida Aquarium is a bit crowded with the families and visitors in May of 2021. However, it is an interesting place for all age groups. The young children really like the outside water play areas. Bring towels for them. The inside areas are educational and beautifully laid out. Plan on staying at least three to four hours.
Face masks were required inside, but some visitors were not wearing them. I was okay with the face masks.

I'm probably spoiled. I grew up is Cali and regularly visited the Steinhart Aquarium and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I've also been to the aquarium in Singapore and Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach.

Tampa Bay Aquarium, by contrast, is small. Its about the same size as Ripley's. A portion of the aquarium is dedicated to reptiles and another portion to Madagascar. Interesting exhibits but it does reduce the number of typical aquarium exhibits you encounter.

Water is some of the reef exhibits was murky versus crystal clear and I found that odd.

A turnoff versus other aquariums I've visited is you must pay for parking. That's an extra $10 atop an already somewhat expensive $40 per person adult ticket. Depending on family size it can get pretty expensive for an activity that most will complete in 60 - 90 minutes.

It is a very nice 2 hours aquarium. After 2 hours you are done. The outdoor water activity is perfect for little kids and I imagen in a normal day sunny day will pack. I also think it was a little expensive 2 adults 2 kids = $120 for 2 hours...

Just an overall okay experience. The wetland portion of the aquarium was the best. The exhibits drew you in because you were able to get up close and personal with the animals. The salt water tanks were on the smaller size. Would probably be a better overall experience as a family with small children but as two grown adults it was rather underwhelming. The price also just isn’t worth it. Paid $64 for two adults. Definitely get these tickets as they hike the prices up the day of. When we went it was $40 each per adult - which is 100% not worth it.

Having visited quite a few aquariums over the years, I confidently declare this to be one of the best. Deceptively small at first glance, the experience unfolds slowly until you realize you've covered a lot of ground and seen a huge variety of sea life. Every exhibit is beautiful and highly informative, from the tanks to unexpected surprises like lemurs. If you have small children looking to cool off in the typically-hot Florida sun, there is a splash area outside offering nice views of the cruise ships known to dock in the area as well as some food and drink options.

My complaints are minor and may or may not make a difference in one's enjoyment of the aquarium: Despite timed admissions, large groups seemed to cluster in certain areas- very often it was beneficial to hold back/come back when they'd moved on, otherwise it was difficult getting close to the exhibits to read signage and take photos. And despite it being the norm for aquariums, having to pay $10 to park seemed a little excessive with few other transportation options available considering the facility's downtown location.

With that in mind, I'm nonetheless eager to return.

We were really excited to check out the aquarium because it was supposed to be one of the best in the US but we were pretty disappointed. We were expecting much more. Watch out for the guys holding signs for parking, we followed them and paid $10 to park when the parking garage was $2/hr (we were only there for 1 hour). Lesson learned!

I was very disappointed to find out that if you wanted the extra tours you must arrive early before the aquarium opens to secure a spot. Why not just have it available online so you don't have to make two trips? The aquarium was very crowded and maintaining a social distance was impossible. We were shuffled through in less than an hour. If you consider ticket prices and parking this is not a good value.

30 minute activity if you walk slow with kids. Very expensive to see fish. Park in public lot . It costs $2 an hour. Florida Aquarium parking is $12. Aquarium is 99% tanks of fish. Super boring.

There are no whales, dolphins, or manatee . This is Florida sea life- Hello
There is one tank with 2 alligators, and one shark, we were told the other one died. 1 turtle. I will give them credit for the one tank of stingrays.

Seriously we could have been through entire exhibit in 15 minutes.

We have a better exhibit at our mall in Minnesota for half the price which has 100 sharks, a tank of alligators a stingray tank and ton of loggerhead turtles. Just sayin. Does not meet Florida standards.
