We went on the Sonoma Wine Trolley with 8 ladies for a bachelorette party on the trolley that was open to the public. We had an amazing time! Our tour guide Paul was very knowledgeable and told us some history of Sonoma as we drove to the first winery. He even took pictures of us at a scenic overlook so we could all get in the shot together. The wineries were beautiful and the wine was great. Lunch was delicious and exceeded our expectations - we dined on paninis in a private patio while we tasted wine at the winery and then got gelato afterwards. On the way home we sang along to Journey on the trolley. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to have the work of planning and driving and lunch taken care of, it was well worth the money.

This was the 3rd Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley I have been on, and it still is such a great way to explore Sonoma. Paul, our tour guide, was fantastic (and the second time he hosted a trip I was on)! I really appreciated the history of the area he provided, and we enjoyed the wineries and lunch. This trip was full, and I would recommend having us pay for tasting either up front or at the end as it added so much time waiting to pay at each stop- felt a bit rushed. But, still a fabulous experience!

We had a great time- our driver/guide was knowledgeable and funny. The trolley was a great mode of transportation. All the wineries we went to allowed us to choose if we wanted the tasting or if we wanted something else (perk of not pre paying). The only thing I would recommend is to contact in advance all the dietary needs and really make sure the winery you eat lunch at can accommodate.

Disappointed in the trip and would not recommend for the price. First winery the scenery was beautiful but tasting was 25.00 extra per person and barely a splash with a rude person pouring who explained nothing. Second winery was freezing inside and lunch was a flat basic panini with a bag of chips… not the advertised delicious lunch. There was no view at the second winery and we had to wait too long when there was nothing to do or see. Third winery also no view but at least a good explanation of how they make the wine and five tastings with decent pours for 20.00. IMO It would be better to hire a driver to drive around instead of having to wait for everyone else to be ready. I was expecting wineries with sweeping views because I could just go into a tasting bar in sonoma plaza for what the two places offered since they had no atmosphere.

Sounds like you where on the same tour as the last review. I'm sorry you where disappointed. Tasting fees in Sonoma valley range but start at at least $20 and go up significantly from there. Our winery choices change all the time. Sounds like we should look at that. Thanks for the feedback.

The trolley was a great way to travel to the vineyards we visited. The web site is misleading as it states you will have 4 stops. We went to two wineries and the place we had lunch. The first winery was BJ Cohen and it amazing and the scenery was spectacular. We we stayed here for hour. The next stop was out lunch stop at VJB. Lunch was a sandwhich, scoop of potato salad, a bag of chips and a coupon for a free school of gellato. You had to buy your own drink whether that be wine, water or soda. We stayed at this stop 2 hours. Once you are done with lunch there is a very tiny vineyard to walk through and then absoultely nothing else to do but wait for the trolley. Our final stop was at Mayo and our server was hysterical. We stayed here for about an hour as well. We did not feel that this trip was worth the $125 and would not recommend it. You can have just as much fun just driving around and stopping at the wineries on your own.

Thank you for your feedback. While our website does say we stop at 3-4 places, VJB is both a winery and lunch stop. We have however just added back our forth stop. You are always welcome to drive to each winery taste wines and move on but I would not recommend it. And since the trolley sits above the vines, is open air, has a fun group of people on it, and best part is we do the driving for you, I can see the value in the price we offer.

The trolley ride was not as expected. The wineries we visited charged from $25 to $35 per person just to taste what amounted to about one full glass of wine. So before we finished 4 wineries, the total out of pocket was an additional $110 per person. This should have been explained clearly about that cost before we signed up.
Getting on an off the trolley was somewhat difficult for a heavy person. The first step was very high and there was no stool provided. This resulted in my spouse getting a large cut on her shin when she slipped trying to climb up into the trolley.
The speaker system on the trolley did not work in the back, so we could not hear anything the driver was saying as we rode along.

I had reserved this trolly in 2020, but had to cancel due to Covid. I am happy that the company extended my tickets for several years. Finally made it to Sonoma and booked our tour. It was a fun experience on the trolly. The driver was great, as was Mike (trainee) but the speakers were broken on the trolly so we only given a brief history before we left the Historic Sonoma square. On to the tastings. The first stop BR Chon was good. We were given our wine and a quick run down of the tasting notes. The grounds were beautiful and it was a pleasant experience. The second stop was VJB Winery. Again, beautiful setting but we were put up in a room with chips and an average panini sandwich. The tasting room we stopped at first for a glass pour no tasting available (they had 2 large tour busses and our trolly so OK I get it) but no one came to tell us about the winery, history or even the wine. I had to research the wine varietals on line during our lunch. The final stop was the best experience at Mayo Winery. We were given a great tasting, great info about the wine and even a little of the process of wine making. It was a good day overall ~ fun for us but we were disappointed with lunch.

We did enjoy our trip, HOWEVER. Safety was a big concern, and I felt uncomfortable and anxious on the bus. Because we were there during the Bomb Cyclone we had to have the mini bus. While I appreciated the safety measures for rain and comfort, I do wish there was an alternative to cancel as they did not follow covid guidelines at all. More than half the bus did not wear masks and were not reminded to wear them or asked to put them on. I thought being in Cali they were taking it more seriously than my state but this was the only place they seemed to not enforce even though the wineries did and even though the website says it's REQUIRED. There's no proof of vaccine required or COVID testing to say least alleviate some of the concern. Very disappointed and felt less safe. Would not recommend during a pandemic.

Paul was our tour guide, he was super funny and made sure all of us had plenty of water for the wine trolley tour. We even got to squeeze in a fourth winery on our half day tour, which was great. All four wineries were nice, there were several other groups with us on the trolley, but we all kept ourselves with masks on and socially distant the whole time on and off the trolley. All of the wineries had socially distant tables and they were all clean and friendly. A great overall experience for our group of 4 friends.

Open air trolley was fun. We appreciated being able to postpone our trip due to a previous COVID exposure. But otherwise we were disappointed. The mic on the trolley didn’t work so there was no history/local insight shared. Two of the three wineries we visited just put the wine in front of us: no info about the wines…for a $25 pp tasting fee.
Lunch for other patrons at JVB looked delicious. Ours was just an uninteresting panini with chips. Disappointing and an easy fix for the future.
The last stop at Mayo Winery was amazing. They seemed to actually care. Was an uplifting way to end the trip.

Thank you for the review and comments on VJB - yes this is an easy fix and just called them. I was not aware they offered chips. I have that being changed asap. I am very glad you like Mayo. They are great.
