Best tour I've ever had
Nov 2021
This was a spectacular experience for me. I loved my fellow tour mate and Jennifer, who was our tour guide, was charming and very knowledgeable. I enjoyed learning about Funk Zone history, murals, and Santa Barbara wines. The food arrived when we did, tables were reserved for us—it was delightful. The distilled tasting was led by the distiller, himself. I now know how to sip spirits and really enjoy the flavors :D. The food was lovely. The octopus ceviche that we had at Santo Mezcal was the best I've ever had, and Lucky Penny's pizza, with smoked mozzarella, was top-notch.

Fun Funk Zone Dood Tour!
I live in Los Angeles and have been to SB many times but never really got to know the area and food. I went for the weekend with my cousin and loved this tour! I live food tours and have been on many of them all over the country and world.

Tara, the owner took us on our tour and we had an amazing cultural and food experience. We had 5 delicious stops with wine and beer parings AND went to a distillery for 5 tastings. Most of us purchased their delish gins and liqueurs.

The Funk Zone is a very special place right off of State Street that I never knew existed! I highly recommend this tour.

Excellent Food Tour
Nov 2021 • Friends
This was such a fun and cool way to experience the heart of Santa Barbara! Every single stop was absolutely delicious and the portions were very generous. We would not have been able to try all those places on our own in one weekend. The tour guides were amazing and a wealth of knowledge and history of the area, which made the tour really interesting and personable. We scheduled this for lunch on a Sunday and it was the perfect way to end our trip.

Very Cool Experience
Aug 2021 • Friends
First time doing something like this and I thought it was amazing. Be prepared to walk, we were in a group with older couples and I could tell they were tired. It isn't a huge area we walked (4x4 block) but just keep in mind it may not be for everyone. The variety of food and drinks was nice. The amount of time we spent at each stop is pretty quick 15-20 min each. It was a cool way to see that part of Santa Barbara. My favorite part was the last stop at the distillery where we tried 6 liquors, everyone in the group bought at least one bottle to take home. We really enjoyed our tour.

We had a great time doing this tour! It was the perfect pace of eating food, drinking, and walking. The portions were generous at every stop and some stops offered a discount on purchasing bottles of wine/alcohol to take home for later. It was totally worth the price and we got to bypass the lines as well! Tara was a great guide and super knowledgeable and I would definitely do this tour again the next time I am in Santa Barbara. She also gives tips on how to best photograph your food and encourages taking photos...the hard part is that the food is just so good and you have a great time and then forget to take a photo before you start eating!

Such a great experience. Our tour guide Tara (the one who started this business) was amazing and very friendly and the food portions are big so come with an appetite. We were with a great group of people too. It was one of the highlights of our trip to SB.

Must-Do in Santa Barbara
Apr 2021
This was the 2nd time I had done the Funk Zone tour, last time was 2018. Some of the restaurants have changed but the food & tour are still great. We were fortunate enough to do the tour w/ Tara, the founder of ETST. She was a blast! The food was amazing, I'm still dreaming about the Schnitzel Poutine & Octopus Ceviche. The walking part was not hard or extensive. There were plenty of stops to sit, eat, drink & socialize. Plus, you get discounts on wine & spirits if you are on the tour. We're already planning another trip to SB to take our spouses on the tour.

Fantastic food tour - a must do
Booking was easy and the information in the email we received was complete. We met up at a restaurant and was greeted by our tour guide, Jocelyn who was in training along with the coworker training her. With covid restrictions, our tour was basically a take-out food tour and we were the only two people in the tour which felt like a vip tour. We were given a goodie bag which contained a bottle of whiskey and popcorn from a restaurant.

As we walked around, Jocelyn talked about the history of Santa Barbara and the funk zone such as on how it got its name. They helped us take pictures on each food stop and made sure we're comfortable throughout the tour. It was fun socializing with our tour guides while we eat. We got food from different restaurants which includes ceviche, taco, pizza, sourdough bread with jam, ice cream, and fresh chocolates! We were stuffed in the end of the tour and had a big bag full of food Togo.

Overall, it's a great tour to those who wants to find out about some history and try different food specialties in that city. We got to try a variety of great and delicious restaurants within a few hours. I'd gladly try it again at a different city. Thank you for the amazing time!
