Awesome!! Would do it again : )
I was originally afraid about going to Yosemite in the winter for one day, but it was amazing! We had great weather (a bit of rain but nothing major, and it cleared up quickly). It didn't feel super rushed either! Even though we didn't get to see the Sequoias (with no fault on Extranomical), Rob made sure that he filled up the time with other sight seeing in Yosemite that aren't as crowded with other tourists. His stories are great and I wrote all his SF food recommendations down for later! He also is great at taking photos : ) The bus had USB outlets which was great and the windows were big so you could really enjoy the ride.

Yosemite NP - go for more than a day
I did a multi-day tour (staying two nights in the Yosemite Valley). Most clients were day-trippers which makes for a long day in the bus. Highly recommend a stay in the Valley. I went out with Andy as the tour guide and back with Rob as the tour guide. Both were excellent; experienced and knowledgable on Yosemite as well as San Francisco more broadly (offering suggestions for my stay there too). Andy sang a few songs for us (lovely singing voice) and offered his social media contacts in case we had any follow up questions. Rob took us home a different way than in (via the North entrance/exit) which added variety and he took the time to drop everyone back to their own hotel (rather than the limited pick-up options to go out) even though I'm sure he was keen to get home (it's a very long day). There were some issues with the company itself that these two guides greatly offset. Highly recommend asking for Andy or Rob as your tour guide. One frustration I had was the indeterminate pick up time for the return to San Francisco - the booking office could only offer 12-2pm as possible timing then much later (around 1pm) when I hadn't heard and rang, it became 2:30pm. Frustrating as I could have hiked for longer and still been back in plenty of time to get the bus whereas not knowing I turned around early and was back in the valley at 12pm (2.5 hours early). Further, the company advised I could bring an overnight bag within a size which I checked my bag was within. I was an international traveller there for 9 days in including work so I had more than an overnight bag or day pack. The day before the tour I was advised there was also a weight requirement and the bag had to be no bigger than airline carry-on luggage. Some wrangling later the company agreed I could bring my bag without additional charge. But there's no under-bus storage to store bags so my bag was wedged into the front of the bus securely. Both Rob and Andy made no fuss about my bag at all which was a relief after the arguments with the booking office. But lesson: pack light. I also had issues with the pick-up location. I was advised that bus only picks up from limited hotels and mien pick up based on the hotel I had booked would be The Mosser. Not wanting to walk for 10 min at 5:30am in the morning I changed my hotel (at some inconvenience) to the Mosser. Then after I checked in - on the afternoon before I was due to depart, Extranomical rang me to say they wouldn't fetch me from the Mosser but instead, the Hilton which again was a 10 min walk away at 5am. After arguing they organised an Uber at their expense but it meant I had to be ready 1/2 hour earlier. Lastly, the bus was jammed full on my trip out which made it less than comfortable. We were also delayed departing due to some booking mix up which was no fault of the client or tour guide. Andy was very apologetic and extended the return time in the park to offset but it was still time lost. If I had my time again, and wasn't travelling solo, I would probably opt to hire a car and drive myself as it's a 4h drive but on the bus it takes more like 6 hours albeit with scenic and food/drink/toilet stops on the way. And within the Park there is a shuttle but I seemed to miss it (there's no set timetable - just every 20-30 min) and walked but the distances are not small. I spent more time getting to trails than walking on the trails. Also, the bus didn't go the Giant Sequoias - the road is usually closed but it was open on 11 Feb and I travelled there in a private car. But Extranomical won't go there in winter which needs to be clear (I knew this because I asked but other clients were disappointed as they did not know). Hope this helps - again, the tour guides were excellent and made it a 'no regrets' trip despite the frustrations with the company. I will say that the company was always attentive and timely with its replies and did once I raised issues work to resolve it so it all finished nice but it could have been an easier experience.

A visit to some special places with a great guide
Brilliant tour with Don - fantastic views from the bus and the trip to Muir Woods was truly special. We liked how the three wineries were so different and the stop at Sonoma was just enough time to grab a bit and see some of the historic sights. Don was a brilliant guide, keeping us entertained with a wealth of local information. Would recommend this.

      Weird drive
Not very pleasant tour. The driver( Gino) was all the time eating and drinking and interacting with phone apps while driving. I wouldn’t recommend it.

      Split Your Tour
I did the tour over two days so went out with one tour until the big lunch break and came back with the following days tour having booked myself a night at the Yosemite Valley Hotel. This meant that I had 24 hours of my own time to hike through the valley and really take in the atmosphere - there's lots of information and options depending on how energetic you feel! So glad I did it as it breaks up a very long day on the bus. On the way out we had a combined driver / guide and he did a fine job but on the way back we had separate driver and tour guide. The driver did a great job catching up time due to the 30 minute late return of some clients grrrr! The second guide Andy Howse was outstanding a very knowledgeable man who went well beyond the geography into geology and all sorts and particularly the recent and not so recent social history of the whole area. So thoughtful of our needs and very entertaining - a real character! I'm not a fan of 'small group tours' in the back of a converted van, so I went for this tour in a somewhat larger bus. Unfortunately our bus was fairly elderly with no overhead air or lights and the side windows got very misted up when it was cold outside. I think the return journey is always the most trying but Andy did well at keeping us going. Other moan is that it's not made clear at the outset that in the winter you're not going to see the giant Sequoias as they are a long hike down from the bus and it's just going to be way too slippery to do.

      We had the best day!
What an amazing day we had on this tour. Rob was a fabulous guide - he was so passionate and knowledgeable about Yosemite. He went out of his way to ensure we had the best photo stops and got great shots. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Best tour with tour guide rob
We had the best driver and tour guide today Rob He has hard of hearing since his service in the military But in place He had a heart of gold and the most experienced guide I have ever met. His knowledge of the park and he tells us his childhood story inside the Yosemite and around San Francisco. He look after every one in the bus. Making sure that we get to experience all the best about Yosemite and our comfort and safety. He knows all the best spot for photos and place to eat Wish there were more like him I couldn’t highly recommend this tour enough especially with rob as your guide

      Great sights and great guide
We had an amazing time on this trip. Our guide, Andy Howes, did his best to make up for weather restrictions. He is clearly passionate about history, the environment, and people. Yosemite is absolutely gorgeous

      Pick Kimmy!!!
Kimmy was our tour guide and she was fantastic!! She was super welcoming, very informative, charismatic, funny, and made us all feel so comfortable! She made sure we had a great time! I really want a link to her playlist!! The songs were perfect for each moment. Kimmy was also amazing because she knew all there is to know about San Francisco! I have learned so much from her. She made me grow a fond love for San Francisco and I appreciate that so much. This definitely was an experience I will never forget. P.S. The grilled cheese at Sunflower Café (at the Plaza) is really the best!! (just like Kimmy said)

An amazing tour with Andy the best tour guide ever
Absolutely amazing trip! Andy Howse! Andy, Andy, Andy wooooo!!! The best tour guide I have ever had for any trip ever! Was so fun, happy, full of history knowledge that he shared with us. I learnt so much about San Francisco & California and Yosemite. He made the trip and the long journey so much more enjoyable! He was so helpful, there were a few on the bus who struggled more in the snow when walking round Yosemite and he was so helpful & always looked out for them! He also sung songs which were so good! The trip itself is amazing! Do a few hotel pick ups then a couple hours drive to a supermarket where can pick up food for breakfast, lunch anything you want also a Starbucks there and toilets to use. Then another drive for around 2 hours, stopping for another bathroom break. Then another hour to Yosemite when you get there its absolutely amazing. Drive round and stop for 2 different photo stops. Then drive down further into the Valley and go for a 3 hour walk. It may not sound like a long time but its more than enough time there! Wouldn’t have needed any longer. Got so close to the waterfall got to walk around the valley and take lots of amazing photos. Then took one more final photo stop when set off then back home with a few stops on the way to buy food & use the toilet (restroom) Didn’t get to see the Giant Sequoias due to the snow but this did not matter at all because we got longer in the Valley! Once again Andy is the best tour guide I’ve ever had. I also left my bag with important things in at one of the food stops and Andy was quick to turn the bus around to go back and get it, he was so kind and was so helpful! He ran with me and I mean RAN to the restaurant to see if we could find my bag and it was also raining! This man deserves a raise! 😄😄 Thank you so much Andy and to Jeremy too who was an amazing driver and so friendly!

      Yosemite in winter was magical
Rob, the tour guide, was a fountain of knowledge and anecdotes throughout the day. He kept us informed and entertained. While we couldn’t see the sequoias on this trip due to icy road conditions, he did all he could and included lots of other things to make for a great Yosemite experience.

The park is beautiful and the day was well planned and contained a lot of impressive views. But the tour as such was pretty horrible. The driver had a heavy accent and was difficult to understand so that we didn’t get the experience of an informative visit. One passenger was left behind and the driver only noticed after we had all but left the park as he didn’t count the passengers on the stops before that. It took us three hours in all to go back and collect her. At that time the gas was dangerously low so we had to stop to refuel. All in all the trip lasted until nearly midnight. It seems dangerous to let one man drive for 18 hours, even if he had two breaks during the day. I was really relieved that we didn’t have an accident and made it home alive. In other words: don’t take this trip if you value safety on the road and aren’t prepared to get your information on Yosemite from Wikipedia.

First, we are glad we got to talk about your tour on Saturday and to clarify that our decision to return for the passenger who got lost making their way to the pickup location added just over an hour to the tour. I'm pretty sure if you were the one who could have been stranded overnight in Yosemite, you would have appreciated what we did to ensure everyone returned to SF safely. We also discussed our electronic driver records which showed that the guide logged just under 10 hours of driving, the DOT limit. Nevertheless, we can appreciate your disappointment and delay in getting you back to your hotel and asked that you contact Viator about your experience. We will support, as we always do, whatever they believe is fair.

My tour guide and driver Rob was amazing. He was very friendly and patient, esp not everyone on our bus was fluent in English. He knows Yosemite very well and gave useful recommendations on how we should spend our free time and where to take good photos.

The tour company Extranomical Tours arranged Uber to pick me up from my hotel to the meet-up location, which was extremely helpful. Overall it was a very pleasant trip.

I was unaware I would be leaving my car in a parking garage for a hotel who didn't know a tour was using them for a parking garage. We then were ubered and dropped off at a 7/11 to wait for bus who was late. We waited 25 mins from time uber dropped us off til bus picked us up in front of a 7/11.. If we were a family this would've been unacceptable. But it was just me and boyfriend. This tour needs to be more specific and tell you that there are no sequoia trees until May! Not that if "weather permits" came to see trees and no giant sequoias!!

We're sorry that the start of your tour was difficult. But glad we got to chat and sort things out. For those reading this review, note that SF parking is not included in the tour price and that we have no reserved spaces available if you are driving into town. Be aware also that this guest was missed their original pickup location and we graciously paid to Uber them to our last hotel pickup so they could still make the tour. And lastly, all of our tour descriptions state clearly that the Sequoias are not visited when the trail is not safe, and, currently, it is covered by 4 feet of snow from the heavy winter storms. If you have questions, call our guest services members at (415) 357-0700.

    1. I was supposed to pick up at 6:20am in front of the hotel for the Yosemite tour. But the tour guide mistook my pick up point and I waited over 45 minutes.
She didn’t give me a call. I did. *I asked the concierge to talk the tour guide by phone directly since I’m not a native English speaker.
It was ok because it happens sometimes if there is miscommunication.
But the tour guide didn’t say even sorry and she blamed it on me in front of every tourist in the bus although I showed the confirmation email.

    2. The tour guide didn’t give me a call to delay a pick up time from Yosemite.
I gave a call and the staff said the tour guide gave me a call and left the message.
    But there is no message.
I was in the hotel lobby in Yosemite 30 minutes prior to the pick-up time, so the signal was good.

    3. I took a seat when I return from Yosemite because I was the first to arrive.
But the tour guide asked me to move the other seat next to the person who joined alone because I’m alone.
And the person who arrived late(the last) had a seat only by himself.
Even he joined the tour alone.
It was pretty unfair and I felt really sad.

    日本人の方は、英語が話せたとしても、絶対に日本のツアーに参加されるべきだと思います。

Hi Kumiko, We are sorry to hear your Yosemite experience did not meet your expectations. We want all of our guests to have the most enjoyable tour with us and we are sorry that you did not feel you received this service. On the way back from Yosemite we do ask that new guests joining the tour wait for existing passengers to get on the bus first as they generally have their personal belongings already at their seats and we know that couples like to travel together, so, we ask that single guests either sit at a free seat or next to another single guest. Giving you the opportunity to meet new people if this is your choice. This is not an aim towards you, just a courtesy to our other guests who have already settled into their seats. Regarding the pick-up times, we are sorry for any confusion, lateness and the fact that you did not receive any messages that may have been left for you. If you have any further concerns, please feel free to email them to: feedback@extranomical.com. Kind Regards, Extranomical Tours

Being a tree surgeon you would expect the last thing i would want to do is pay to see more trees, but its been a dream of mine to see the giant sequoias in real, words cannot describe the size of these trees and the power they posses over the surrounding area its amazing. To top it off got to enjoy the national park and spotted a few bears. I would recommend this trip to anyone because there is something for everyone.

If you just have a day to spare, this is a great tour to book.
Timely pick up and sufficient stops in between.
Our driver and guide Phil was extremely passionate to show us the best. We got adequate time to visit all the tourist areas and extra time to spot some bears as well 😀.

excellent plan when you have little time, beautiful site, it is just great, you visit the strategic sites of the park, good photos .. I recommend not going at the end of summer, the waterfall will be dry

Thanks for your kind words about the tour. We think the fall is a beautiful time to be in Yosemite and the park is less crowded than normal. You're right about the waterfalls being at their best in the spring. Take care and travel safe!
