Perfect way to see a glacier
This a fantastic excursion! A van picks you up at the cruise dock which is great bc town is far away. A short drive gets you out in the wilderness for a fun canoe paddle across a lake with a waterfall view the whole time. You beach near the glacier and then hike even closer to get great pictures and have time to take in the view. We even got to hold ice flow chunks off the glacier! Guides Ryley and Justin were lots of fun and had tons of information about the glacier and area. Justin even called over porcupines twice! Amazing! His mother should be proud. :) Hoosier Family

      Worth It!!
Awesome tour with our guides Sophie and Justin! Sophie entertained us with tons of facts (and some corny jokes) during the canoe ride, and Justin led a fun (and short) hike up to the glacier viewpoint. The glacier was amazing and totally worth paddling out for. The staff were very organized, professional, and always right on time. This is a must-do tour in Juneau!!

Thank you Liquid Alaska for an incredible tour today!! Shayla and Justin were top notch guides! They were patient, kind, funny, and extremely knowledgeable from safety to facts about the Glacier and surrounding area. The canoe trip was like none other! We also were able to get great pictures of Nugget falls and even saw the infamous Admiral P!! Thank you again Shayla and Justin for making the trip an experience we will always remember and Happy Birthday Kim!! :)

      Liquid Alaska Mendenhall Ice Tour
What an adventure!! Such an incredible experience! How often do you get a chance to not only paddle up close to a massive glacier but also get out and hike even closer!! Justin & Shayla were awesome guides who kept us entertained with silly jokes, a little singing, and a wealth of information about SE Alaska, and Juneau general but Mendenhall Lake, Mendenhall Glacier specifically! I would strongly recommend this for an excursion from your cruise ship or a day trip if you’re visiting Juneau! Awesome & unforgettable adventure!!

The best Juneau excursion you can buy
Molly and Sophie were the best! What a team. 10/10 my wife and I would tip canoes with them again. The views of the glacier and waterfall are amazing, and they make a mean Mendenhall Mocha to boot.

Unforgettable Canoe Tour in Alaska with Stunning Scenery and a Fantastic Guide
I recently took a 10-person canoe tour in Alaska, and it was a fantastic experience. Our tour guide, Riley, was incredibly lovely and energetic, which made the trip so much fun. The view of the glacier was stunning, and the waterfall was strong and beautiful. Despite initially dreading the thought of paddling for two hours, the calm lake and picturesque scenery made it an enjoyable and easy adventure. I highly recommend this tour!

A DEFINITE must do for your stop in Juneau
This experience is a DEFINITELY MUST DO!!! Ryley and Justin were our guides for the day and my adult son and I had a blast!! The true HIGHLIGHT of this Alaskan Cruise without a doubt. Everything was provided to us: boots, leggings, jacket, gloves, snacks…..seriously everything! My younger son was originally supposed to go on the experience and I was a last-minute replacement. I am so sad that he wasn’t able to go. Do not miss this opportunity!!

Highly Recommended. Canoe is the best way to experience the glacier.
My family (2 adults and 2 teens) were stopped in Juneau for only 7 hours during a cruise and wanted to make the most of the little time that we had. Our guides Molly and Ryley exceeded our expectations. They were knowledgeable, personable, and clearly loved their jobs. We had breathtaking views of the lake, waterfall, and glacier that likely could not be matched by a helicopter or bus tour. Highly recommended and worth it to stick with a local tour operator like Liquid Alaska.

Had an amazing experience with Liquid Alaska's Canoe excursion to the Mendenhall Glacier! Kevin was welcoming, entertaining and knowledgeable and kept us safe while giving everyone amazing and optimal experiences and views of the icebergs and wildlife during the trip. He was even able to pick out a bald eagle resting on chunk of water in the middle of the lake, which we were able to capture through the binoculars provided while on the trip. Highly recommend this excursion, and know that Liquid Alaska is only 1 of 2 outfitters that can enter the bay with the glacier. We ended up close to 100 yards to the face of this icon!

Andrew and Ryan led us through a terrific experience. They supplied our group of about 16 with rain boots, jackets and pants, and we needed them for the rain that day. We loaded into a big canoe where you sit two to a rung and all paddle in tandem. It was a blast.
We made it across the lake with our guides telling us about the area. After landing, we were given crampons and safety instructions and were off to the ice.The ice caves and tunnels were stunning and a lake had formed within the glacier . The stunning blues of the ice defied description. Even found a stream of water running down an ice cave wall and off a ledge-voila, a glacier water fountain.THAT'S pure water and delicious to drink. We got back to the start point and had hot chocolate and coffee to warm up.It is a not to be missed adventure.

It was a last minute decision for me and I’m so grateful that I made it. Kelsie met us under the tramway, loaded us up and drove us through town to the lake. She was lovely and entertaining filling us in on everything from the local surroundings and culture to teaching us how to interpret Wisconsin accents. When we were arrived at the lake we were greeted by Paul and the two of them helped us gear up quickly and get on the water. Paul did a great job explaining our surroundings as we rode across and sprinkled in several ridiculous jokes that made the time fly. The scenery was spectacular and the trip was definitely one of the highlights of my cruise. I would highly recommend liquid Alaska tours based on my experience.

We are by no means professional or even recreational canoers. Frankly, we signed up mostly for the pictures.

Our guide Paul took care of every detail to ensure we had an optimal experience from the moment we hopped into his van. During the ride to and from the lake, not to mention the canoe trip, Paul shared insightful knowledge about Alaska along with tips and tricks on how to navigate the canoe itself. The company provides all the equipment you may need including boots, gloves, lifejackets and stores your belongings safely while you are on the water. An added bonus was the snacks and drinks provided as this is a longer excursion.

Paul did a good job of ensuring we were paddling where we needed to go on the lake but balancing it out with breaks and photo opportunities as the conditions allowed, all while remaining sensitive to the group's overall paddling abilities. Needless to say, we walked away with some epic pictures and unforgettable memories.

Day began with our glacier helicopter tour being cancelled due to rain/poor visibility and I'm honestly kind of glad about it. On a whim we jumped on this tour and had the best time. My wife already posted a review, but felt obliged to submit my own to gloat some more about our awesome guides Bryce and Meara. They both provided a very friendly and informational experience, making sure to accommodate the group as much as possible, while feeling as if you were just going out with some good friends for the day. Would return for another tour just to hang out with these guys.

    The actual trip:
Late June, we get all the weather in one day. Good amount of rain, a little gusty at times , and some welcome spots of sunshine. After we shuttled to the lake from Juneau we canoed across the lake as a crew, so some manual labor required to make it to the Glacier, but wasn't too daunting of a task. Great close up views of nugget falls and after disembarking you get about as close as you can to the Glacier itself. They provided boots, rain gear, life jackets, and a dry bag accompanied by some snacks and water to keep you fueled. After making it back we received a selection of hot drinks to warm up a bit for our shuttle back to town.
These guys really thought of everything and would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering trying to see Mendenhall Glacier.

We had a wonderful day (by Juneau standards) with a light drizzle. The day started off meeting Casey at the cruise terminal where a shuttle brought us to a parking lot where the rest of the group joined and we got fitted for our gear (raincoat/pants/gloves/rainboots, helmet, life vest, a dry bag with snacks and a bottle of water). We took a canoe out to Mendenhall Glacier and it wasn't a hard row out to the glacier. There, we helped hoist the canoe out of the water, got fitted with microspikes, and then started walking on the glacier! We got to see beautiful crevasses and try some glacial ice. Felt safe the entire time. It wasn't difficult at all and we had a great time! Thanks Ryan, Andrew, and Casey!

This was such a cool experience and Paul was an awesome guide. They provided pants, gloves, and rain jackets so we stayed warm and dry, and even snacks for the ride. Paul was knowledgeable about the lake and glacier and patient with our slower paddlers. The trip was fun for our family (including two teenagers) and the warm drinks at the end made it perfect to wind down before heading back to the cruise. We booked directly through Liquid Alaska instead of the cruise line, and I would recommend it!

This was our favorite excursion in Alaska - it was absolutely amazing! Our guides Alec and Miller took treated our family of five (kids ages 11, 13, and 20) to a fun adventure paddling and hiking up toward Mendenhall Glacier. We booked last minute when our cruise's shore excursion was cancelled, so we were unsure of what to expect, but Alec and Miller guided us through everything - safety, gearing up, paddling, and information about the glacier itself and Mendenhall Lake. Views were breathtaking and the team paddle was lots of fun with the others in our group. I can't say enough about how professional and friendly Alec and Miller were and how they are fantastic employees contributing to Liquid Alaska's success - bravo!

We booked an excursion with Liquid Alaska Tours to canoe to Mendenhall Glacier on our visit to Juneau, AK. We had a fantastic time. We were picked up near our cruise ship and shuttled by our guide up to Mendenhall Lake. We were outfitted with all the gear we needed for the tour including boots, rain-pants and jacket, as well as Neoprex gloves to keep comfortable. Our tour guide was Ben, who was extremely knowledgeable regarding all aspects of our tour and even beyond. He was able to point out the various landmarks, current resident animal life and stories behind them as well. We even learned the story of “Romeo” the black wolf known in the legends of Juneau. We were able to get close enough to enjoy the beauty of several cool blue and white icebergs as well as Nugget Falls and finally up to Mendenhall Glacier. We were fortunate to have an experienced guide who knew so much about the history, geography, and native wildlife to keep us both entertained and confident he could answer just about anything we could throw his way. This was the perfect way to spend our afternoon in Juneau, capped with a cup of warm cider & cocoa before returning to town as we spotted Bald Eagles along the way. We highly recommend if you are looking to experience Mendenhall Glacier that an afternoon on the lake with Ben is the way to do it!
