A must try if you are a foodie
We went on this tour in March with my friend and I wholeheartedly recommend it. First we tried some local Shanghai dessert shops and bakeries with Jim and finished with tea tasting. All the while we talked about Chinese history and life in general, Jim really helped us bridge the gap between Chinese culture and ours.

    A must try in Shanghai
We went to various authentic places in Shanghai and tried local cuisine. Our guide Jade was very knowledgeable and flexible so she showed us more about things we were interested in. We also talked about life in China in general, it was like meeting an old friend. Absolutely recommend!

10/10 The Ultimate Shanghai Food Tour
Just did the Shanghai food tour and it was epic! We sampled some incredible soup dumplings and hit up the renowned Sifubao pastry shop - so good! Plus, we tried a Baijiu with a serious kick to it. And that's just to name a few! Our guide, Jade, was a total blast - knew heaps about Shanghai and China. 10/10, would recommend for a chill yet authentic local experience!

    Great food tour!
Jade was a fantastic tour guide! Her English was great and she was able to offer really cool insights into the area, aspects of Chinese culture, history of buildings, and food. The food was delicious, I really enjoyed trying new things and I had a really great evening - would definitely recommend to anyone traveling whether solo or in a group!

    Delicious food tour in Shanghai
Luo Ding, the guide, took me on a whistle stop tour through Shanghai featuring lots of fantastic food - the spicy noodles were particularly excellent. There’s plenty of food so make sure to save some room and my guide, who was on his early twenties, gave me a lot of information about the region’s characteristics and developing attitudes. Great stuff!

    Great food, better company
This was fantastic. The guide Jim was really knowledgeable and we had some interesting discussions about Shanghai culture. There’s lots of food (including a mango dessert) so I would skip lunch if you’re going - I particularly enjoyed our stop for street snack food and some of the meats were really delicious. I highly recommend this; it’s a great way to get to know the city

    Amazing and delicious tour
Amazing tour with Jade. She was the best! I booked my tour very last minute and wasn’t sure what to expect. But it was such a great tour and a highlight of my time in Shanghai. Jade thoughtfully asked if I had any allergies or food restrictions/preferences. Tried many different delicious kinds of food and definitely places I would not have found by myself. Not only did I have great food but I learned a lot of the history and culture of Shanghai and China. I had a lot of fun and I highly recommend this tour and request Jade if you can.

    Enjoyed a lot
Great food-tour in the centre of Shanghai (around the french-concession). Tried different specialities from street-food places and our guide Jim did adapt the tour to our preferences. Great afternoon.

    Great tour; great guide!
Jim was an excellent tour guide. Friendly and knowledgeable about Shanghai and the food scene. The places that he showed us were all excellent and above all, delicious! He was able to explain the various dishes and how they were made and interestingly, was able to describe the products in a farm to table way. His discussion about life in Shanghai was also most interesting. Thanks, Jim; highly recommended.

Must do tour first day or two
Jim was fantastic! Perfect tour to get to know local cuisine, city neighborhoods, and history. Jim was a perfect guide setting a great pace for eating all the different types of food, tea, local markets, etc. we went to a mix of out of the way places down streets fun to explore and shops a foreigner wouldn’t be able to order in English to more popular places as well. Furthermore Jim built in historical stops in the neighborhoods we visited and was very open answering any questions as well about the cities history, current day Chinese culture/business, and any other questions I had. Perfect combo of a traditional walking tour plus foodie benefits. He also gave great recs to walk to next. Highly recommend.

Jim was a great guide. I was the only person on the tour but we still had a great time. We ate many local food and Jim also explained about the history of the area, local lifestyles and well as many other interesting topics. We went to places I would not have been able to find on my own, all the customers were locals and it was a refreshing experience! Totally recommended!

This was a wonderful experience! The food was fantastic and my guide was both knowledgeable and friendly. We even went to a food market, toured the park and a residential area. A good way to see the cultural aspect of Shanghai, all while eating delicious food! Sour milk soup with bread, scallion noodles, soup dumplings, a tea service, pomegranate juice and dessert. Thank you!

Jim was a friendly, serviceminded guide with lots of enthusiasm and knowledge. We were taken to several different spots and tasted lots of different foods, while being told the historical significance of the food and area. Prepare to be stuffed. Would give seven stars if possible.

We had the best time on our tour with Jim. We loved how all the restaurants we visited were local places, and so many of them were hole-in-the-wall places that we’d never be able to find on our own! Jim was so kind and knowledgeable and had so much to share. We loved how the tour also included some history and a taste of local daily life. Jim was generous with his time and expertise, and we had an amazing morning with him. We’d recommend this tour for sure.

I'm so glad I did this tour as I only had one day to explore Shanghai! It was a small group, Jim, our guide, was warm, knowledgeable and passionate about the places and food we tasted! And the food was really divine, great experience and would really do it again if my hubby joined.

Fantastic morning meandering through laneways which I would never have found or ventured down. Jim was an excellent guide ..his obvious love of his hometown
, willingness to give us an insight into his family and his humour enriched our somewhat brief visit to Shanghai. The food was incredible, the tea tasting was just what I had been wanting to experience, the local knowledge and information excellent.
My 16 year old loved it ...there's no higher recommendation!!!

The breakfast food tour was the highlight of our stay in Shanghai. Jim and Lilly were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was DELICIOUS, and we we hunted the places out again during the week to eat there again (you can never get enough pot stickers!). Loved the tea ceremony and walking the back streets between food nooks. Loved it. Highly recommended.

Jim was a very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable host that offered a great introduction to the city, the culture and the food. Walking and talking in between stops provided insight and exposure to the neighborhood that would not have been possible for visitors unable to read or speak Chinese. The tea tasting was every bit as interesting and rewarding as the food.

The tour was a great way to spend the first morning in Shanghai and turned out to be the best food I encountered over the remaining (5) days of my trip.
