One of the best walking tours I’ve ever taken!
What an amazing gem of a tour!
Do not miss out on this opportunity to see some very hidden things that you don’t see every day in China. Our tour guide was amazing and knowledgeable and very friendly. We met some neighbors visited the local market and even tried some food. But the real highlight was visiting the hidden doors. When I returned home I bought a book about the history of that place. One of the best walking tours I’ve ever taken. Worth every penny!

Wonderful guides!
This was the only tour that we prebooked in Shanghai, and I’m glad we did! Our tour guide, Penny was very nice and knowledgeable about the region and history. We spent quite a bit of time with her and a wonderful lady who’s home will be restored. Penny then took us around the neighborhood, to the market, then to Confucius’ temple. It was a wonderful way to see Old Shanghai.

Unique & fascinating experience
Jan 2020
I first visited China in 1993 and since then the changes to the way people live, dress and work have been dramatic. This tour brings these changes to life. Your guide, Penny, is an expert in contemporary Chinese history and walks you through real communities in the old town where you can see with your eyes the changes as they're explained to you. This innovative tour also invites you into the homes of families and places of worship where you can openly discuss modern life. Be the end your understanding of Shanghai will be taken to the next level.

This tour was truly incredible. Penny was so informative and the off the beaten track places she took us to were enlightening. Don’t want to write too much to spoil it for you, just make sure that you put this on your list of things to do. Thanks Penny for such an amazing experience!

Amazing Experince during a walking tour of Shanghai Old Town.
Our guide, Kelly, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, informative and well connected with the local community. Kelly was also considerate and thoughtful in guiding us through the atmospheric Old Town of Shanghai. The laneways decorated with clothing out to dry, the shared living areas and friendly residents were everything we hoped the tour would provide. The history of Shanghai was a bonus, but even better was the freshly made steamed bun with vegetable filling. The local supermarket was full of the aromas from spices. The peace and calm of the Confusious Temple was so unexpected in such a bustling city. This tour is unmissable when visiting Shanghai.

Ask for Penny!
Nov 2019 • Couples
PLEASE if ever in Shanghai sign up, ask for Penny as your tour guide and take this tour! My husband and I did this tour and LOVED it - we learned all about Shanghai and China. Penny is so knowledgeable, kind and made our tour super special. We got to see where the locals live and hear all about the relocation process. My son is still in Shanghai and we are encouraging him to take this tour - you’ll regret it if you don’t. Ask for Penny!

Penny our tour guide was a true professional in her approach to this tour . She was full of information and personality plus... We couldn't have asked for anyone better.
Pickup was in our hotel lobby and was on time and arranged.
The tour lasted approx. 3.5 hrs and was easily accomplished by anyone with a moderate level of fitness.
After the tour was finished , Penny showed us how to use the subway, where to catch a taxi, and offered suggestions for lunch.
Penny also gave us her contact details in case of any difficulties and needed help

Unique Opportunity
A special tour that offers a rare look inside the local lives and their future.
My guide was Penny, and I was very impressed with her knowledge and ability to share the history, and her insight . The also visited a local home under the relocation program. The tour covers the Confucius Temple and other gardens and shops . I would-recommend. I was very lucky to do this solo.
