Our driver picked us up early and drove us 100km north, along winding roads through villages with dogs sleeping in the road around every corner.

Eventually we arrived at the Sinharaja Forest Reserve where we met our guide and after a short tuk tuk ride, commenced our three hour trek through the rain forest.

The humidity was insane and we were quickly soaked. The flora and fauna made it worth it though.

On arrival, the guide rubbed rock salt into our shoes to deter the leeches, which was semi-successful.

We saw peacocks, water buffalo, butterflies, eagles, millipedes, fish owl, lizards, fish and a green viper. I said ‘that looks pretty small’ but was then informed a bite can kill you!

Walking behind my wife and watching her jump at every twig thinking it was a snake was one of my highlights!

Also saw durian fruit, jack fruit, cinnamon, white pepper, wild pineapple, and coffee beans before stopping for a provided lunch at a waterfall.

On the drive home, after passing many cows roaming free, we stopped at the Lumbini tea plantation where we were lucky enough to be given a private tour of the factory.

Recommended.

This was a bit of a splurge on our Sri Lanka trip, but it turned out to be well worth the money. Our driver, Razeek, picked us up exactly at 8 and he drove very carefully and safely, and told us about the various plantations and villages we saw along the way. The 3 hour drive to get there (from Galle) is quite long, but the landscapes on the way are already very beautiful and you get a litre bottle of water per person and a box of fruits to munch on. Arriving at the rainforest, we were met by our guide, a veteran ranger with 20 years experience and a good sense of humour. He had very keen eyes and could spot everything from purple-faced monkeys high in the trees to tiny green vipers hiding in the undergrowth. The walk itself was very doable (most of it is on a stone path) and just the sensory experience of being in the jungle was invigorating. After about 1,5 to 2 hours walking and spotting creatures we came to a waterfall, had a lovely swim and ate a decent packed lunch. The walk back was relaxed and straightforward. We wouldn't have wanted to miss this!

Arranged over the phone then booked online whilst in Galle. Car arrived promptly and good personal service. Journey time was about 3 hours from Galle Fort. Car was a 4 seat recent saloon. Driver was great - careful and steady (Razeek) and was very helpful later finding a shop to buy some jaggery on the way back. Breakfast (fruit box) was provided. On arrival at the park the ranger seemed less experienced than a second who set off with another couple at the same time so pot luck I guess. Was at first assumed we would want to do the shorter of the walks to a large rock pool for swimming but there was no issue when we asked to first go to another slightly further less visited waterfall. Less used path was a scramble in some places but OK. Enjoyed a good foot massage from fish as we ate simple lunch then walked back down to the swimming pool which was teeming with fish. Saw two beautiful snakes during the day (the guide was good to spend extra time looking for a vine snake), lizards, monkeys, fish etc. Also given info on some of the flora. Stopped at a tea estate coming back for a tour / tasting. Overall a 12 hour round trip - well organised and run.

We felt very well taken care of on this tour! The driver met us at the hotel and drove 3 hrs in a very good, air conditioned car to Sinharaja where we met our walking guide who took us into the forest. The company provided us with breakfest and lunch.

In the forest, our guide was great at finding spiders, monkeys, snakes, snails, and pointing out types of trees. At the end we took a dip in the water by a waterfall.

I would note there is a village nearby and the use the Sinharaja walking path for their motorbikes. It was not bothersome to our walk, but should be noted in case someone was expecting the walk to be only woods and animals. There are opportunities to diverge from this path, and our guide took us on several lovely sidepaths. We would come again and use the same company!

We had an amazing trip. It was well organised, we got supplied with water and a filling lunch. The guides were amazing and ready to answer random questions about Sri Lanka. The hiking guide was amazing at spotting animals in the distance. If it weren't for him we would have missed a lot. Also a very interesting visit to the tea plantage.
Overall, a perfect day in the rain forest. Can highly recommend!

We were picked up from a hotel in nice air conditioner car, driver showed us many interesting things on the way like cotton trees, peacocks and we even saw a Monitor lizard.
Forest is very beautiful and wild, it feels like you're walking in sauna)) we got to hang on lianas and hug 600-years old trees. Most of the lizards were sleeping during the day's heat but we got to see some snakes, green lizards, tiny frogs, butterflies and fish.
We cooled our legs in beautiful waterfall (you can swim there too) and had our lunch there.
Guide got us the park's gate on Tuk Tuk and we walked in the forest to the waterfall and back.
Very beautiful nature and good tour organization!

Our tour started with the pick up from our hotel at Galle fort. Roshan was so friendly and extremely informative. Had a wonderful day with new friends, enjoying the scenery and hiking the Rainforest. This should be in everyone's list when visiting Sri Lanka. Loved the added bonus of Tea factory visit. Guide Wigitha made the day amazing. Although no rain in the rainforest ,this day made the hike a bit less slippery, the flora, fauna and the waterfall -- all made a lovely day.

One of our Dreams was to swim under the waterfall, and we got a chance to do it here. Transportation was comfortable and efficient, and the lunch was delicious. Would highly recommend this tour and also this tour company.

My sister and I booked a tour of the Sinharaja rainforest online as a leg of our one week exploring the island. Everything about this tour and the people who organized it was perfect from start to finish. Roshan promptly picked us up from our hotel in Galle at 8 am and drove us 3 hours to Sinharaja. During the drive he was incredibly kind and engaging. He showed us true Sri Lankan hospitality. Once we arrived in Sinharaja we were met by our tour guide who works for the forestry department. He took us to the entrance by Tuk Tuk and we started the 3 hour hike with him. Our tour guide knew every tree and animal in the rainforest. It was amazing! Turns out he has been doing this job for over 20 years and still has such enthusiasm for nature and spreading knowledge. We saw lizards, spiders, snakes, monkeys, and even a scorpion! He pointed out trees that were over 500 years old and it was amazing to hear all that he knew. We hiked about 1.5 hours to an amazing water fall where we swam and then had lunch. Then we hiked back. During the whole tour my sister and I felt so engaged and cared for! Roshan was even able to give us a ride to our next destination (Udawalawe). Both Roshan and our guide showed us nothing but kindness and huge smiles on their faces despite the fact that they were spending a national holiday working to get us the best experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone else looking for wonderful company and a perfect experience!

We made the Sinharaja tour from Galle. It is a long ride (3 hours), but the driver does his job very well and gets you there safe and takes care of you the whole ride. He also explains you things on the way.

Our guide in the forest is also a very nice and knowledgeable person. He pointed out several animals we wouldn't have seen by our own.

We got a very rainy day bit it is not called rainforest for nothing. We wore hiking shoes and rain ponchos and I think it was a good choice. On sunnier days you may get along with flip flops, shorts and a t-shirt but be prepared to climb slippery rocks and go through muddy spots. The forest tour itself takes around 3 hours, maybe a bit more if you take a bath at the waterfall.

I would recommend this tour. Maybe it is a good option to spend a night there and hike more of the trails (if you have the time). You can also visit a tea factory, just talk to the driver or with Rashan. I'm sure they will adapt to your needs.

Tldr: We felt very well cared of and the forest is astonishing.
