Small-group Kyoto Walking Tour including Traditional Japanese Snacks and Drinks

Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
The true magic of Kyoto comes alive at the end of the day, when the past and the present blend into the night! Take to the streets as dusk falls and see how argon lights mix with paper lanterns, age-old shrines squeeze into busy shopping streets, and aged wood is decorated with modern street art.
  • An insider's evening culinary and cultural tour of Kyoto
  • Visit several neighborhoods and discover off-the-beaten-track attractions
  • Sample local street food like frozen bananas and skewered squid
  • A small group size makes for a personalized, intimate experience
What to Expect
A favorite of poets and philosophers for centuries, the well-preserved old quarters of Kyoto contain some of the world’s most atmospheric streets—and they truly come alive at night. During this neighborhood and food crawl, follow a guide through Kyoto’s backstreets, where lantern light flickers alongside neon signs and ancient traditions coexist with cutting-edge nightlife. In Gion, listen carefully for the click of wooden okobo heels as kimonoed geishas flutter between appointments. From there, you’ll head to the bright, noisy nightlife district of Yasaka, famous for its delectable street snacks. Bypass the tourist traps and head to under-the-radar attractions across the river in Teramachi. Your guide will be on-hand to fill you in on the history and culture of each sight as you explore enchanting areas of Kyoto usually only glimpsed by locals. Round off your visit with a stop at a typical food and drink shop for some local delicacies.

Our meeting point was Gion corner. A more descriptive landmark would've been helpful as one person in our group was late for this reason. The tour guide (Sean) was waving a sign (which made it difficult to read) with the wrong tour name (he admitted...More
