Kyoto Small-Group Bike Tour

Overview

Pedal off the beaten path in Kyoto on this half-day bike tour. You’ll get an overview of the city, while leaving the navigation to your guide. With a maximum of nine people in your group, you'll have plenty of opportunity for questions as you explore the former imperial city, criss-crossed with back alleys and hidden paths. Travel light, as you’ll be provided with a bicycle and helmet.

What to Expect
Meet your guide and small group at the centrally located Kyoto Station. You’ll get a properly sized bike and helmet, and listen to an orientation and safety briefing. Note that this tour covers about 9 miles (15 kilometers) and requires a moderate level of fitness and cycling ability.

Once you’re comfortable, pedal off into the former imperial city. Take in the scenery while traveling like a local with your guide in the lead.

Head to Kamo River for panoramic downtown views, stopping at the sacred gate of the Heian-Jingu Shrine for some photos. Hear about the history of replicated structures from Kyoto’s past.

Next, wind through alleys and across canals to Nanzenji Temple, where you’ll learn about classic Zen Buddhist architecture. Your last stop is at the Path of Philosophy, lined with hundreds of iconic cherry trees.

At the tour’s conclusion, return to Kyoto Station.

An awesome way to spend the morning

My wife and I debated on either this tour or the "Meditation Walk" tour through the bamboo forest. We booked this tour and our guide Yuta really came through and made it an amazing event. Turns out he's the guide for both tours too. He's...More

Absolutely Incredible, Thank You Yuta!

This tour was amazing. So much fun. I was a lone tourist, and the 4 other people on the tour were 2 nice couples. Yuta was our tour guide, and I can't say enough great things about him. He taught us a lot, and took...More

Starting close to the station we had a really good trip along the river and around temples and shrines to the East. There were 7 in our group which a comfortable number for our guide Joao to handle. Joao was very informative about what we...More

Yes, we didn’t go very fast not too far. Many stops along the way and very controlled since it’s a small group.
