Greet your guide in central Moscow and descend into the metro system at the Revolution Square station.
Take a tour of its vestibules, famous for their bronze statues depicting Soviet-era figures, such as soldiers and workers, and hear about their symbolism from your guide.
Then, ride the metro (own expense) to other impressive stations. Check out mosaics, pillars, chandeliers, and murals of Soviet leaders, as you learn of the propaganda machine behind them. Listen as your guide tells personal family stories of life under the Soviet regime.
Back at street level, refuel with blini pancakes and a drink, and ride an electric trolleybus to see two of Moscow's seven Stalinist-era skyscrapers, dubbed the “Seven Sisters.” Gaze at the Aviators’ House and Ministry of Foreign Affairs towers, and learn some of the stories associated with these imposing buildings.
Your tour ends at a nearby metro station.
