      Best tour in Japan
Miyuki our tour guide was excellent she speaks fluent English and show us all the history and highlights of the city. We have very nice view of Mount Fuji from the observation deck. She even took a lots of photos for our big group and posted on the company website for us to download for free that’s what I called a Five + starts service. Also our meeting point instruction was on point they were there to greet us as soon as we got off the ship.

      Perfect Mt. Fuji
The entire experience was exceptional. We received a welcome message with photo of our ship arriving including Mt. Fuji in background. Our guide Michiko and our driver were knowledgeable and attentive. They got us to perfect photo shots of Fuji and waterfalls and exceeded all expectations by finding us a mail box and our final souvenirs. Michiko also explained the ceremonies at the temple ensuring we could experience the rituals. Highly recommend.

Terrific tour on a beautiful spring day with an excellent guide and private transportation
Eight of us began our half- day private tour with our charming and informative guide, Miyuki on the day’s first run of a 5-minute Nihondaira Cable Car gondola ride to the top of Mt Kuno to visit the Kunōzan Tōshōgu Shrine. It’s one of Japan’s national treasures with its vibrant colors and state-of- the-art construction in a perfect mountain setting. It is the original burial place of the first shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu. (early arrival at the cable car spared us very long lines later in the morning as multiple buses showed up with other cruise passengers .) A return ride on the cable car brought us to a plateau above the shrine for a visit to the Nihondaira Yume Terrace for views in every direction. Final stop - Miho Beach and Pine Tree Grove – part of the Mount Fuji UNESCO Heritage Site. A wooden boardwalk known as Kami no Michi (God’s Road) leads you to a beach spanning over 7km with more than 30,000 pine trees growing along the seashore, some of them over 650 years old. Morning haze lifted, revealing a spectacular view of Mount Fuji seeming to float over the volcanic black sand beach. This tour company was a pleasure to work with. Clear communications and a good value.

Rain or shine, have a great time!
Our trip was so informative. Hiroko was so engaging and pleasant to be with for the day. Even though we had a rainy day and Mount Fuji was clouded most of the day, the trip was well worth it. The places we went to are beautiful in the rain as well as the sunshine. Hiroko rounded out the gorgeous scenery with her wealth of information, and she made it fun as well. We really enjoyed our day with this tour company.

A brilliant personalised and flexible tour of Shizuoka
The booking process was seamless and very responsive. I was kept up to date with any changes to the tour guide and arrangements for meeting on the day. As we arrived by cruise they were also considerate of changes to our arrival time etc. On arrival, Hirokane was waiting as promised with a bright yellow jacket (which was quite the commitment given it was 32 degrees). Shortly afterwards we were introduced to our driver and tour guide. Immediately they ran through the plan of action and checked we were happy. The tour itself was brilliant but was made even better by the hospitality and kindness from Motoko and Mr Uchida. The organisation was excellent and as we did a private tour we could spend as long or as little as we liked in places. When we had shown an interest in a particular shrine, they used their knowledge of the area to take us to a more private and local shrine which shared alot of similar features. This was not included in the original tour plan but just showed one example of the flexibility and personalisation that we experienced on this tour. We would strongly recommend using this company, and we will definitely be using them again on our next visit.

      Lovely area with lakeside walk
Fabulous place. Unable to see the majesty of Fuji, but the walk around the lake is wonderful. An easy walk. With lots of beauty. Well worth the visit

Terrific Day with a Terrific Guide!
We booked this tour for four people because we wanted to see sights without being shuttled on and off a tour bus with a crowd of people. We chose well! Our guide, Miyuki, met us at Shimizu Marine Terminal where our cruise docked. We drove to the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine where Miyuki showed us the purification ritual, shared the significance of different parts of the Shrine area, and helped us find some cool photo opps. We followed the Shrine with a break in a nearby courtyard with tasty local snacks and drinks, then off to Shiraito Falls. We had some nice views of Mt. Fuji and the two waterfalls were beautiful. Our last stop was Lake Tanuki. We had a few clouds, but still some visibility of Mt. Fuji. On a great day, the views here would be fantastic. The park surrounding the lake is spacious and was full of campers the day we were there. There was nothing resembling a crowd anywhere and we had a great time strolling, taking in the natural beauty and getting to see some normal Japanese life. On the drive back to port, Miyuki talked about Japanese history and culture, taught us origami and answered our random tourist questions. She was excellent every step of the way, from coordinating itinerary changes on the fly to giving us fundamental information about each stop we made. Great day and highly recommend this excursion!

      Mount Fuiji was kind!
I booked a private tour with Local Travel Partners back in May for our upcoming November visit. I had the pleasure to communicate with Hirokane throughout the porcess. The four of us had an English speaking driver and his car. Although, he was quiet, neverthless he was quite knowledgeable. As promised, both the driver and Hirokane met us at the port (we were a tad early) and away we went. On the way to see Lake Ashi and the waterfalls, the skies were just starting to clear. At the first viewing point for Mt. Fuji, it was cloudy and we can only make out the top of the mt. As the day progressed, Mt. Fuji was kind to us and revealed herself fully, to the clicking of cameras! It was great that we were able to view this spectucular sight from multiple vantage points that were not overrunned by tourists. He took us to the right places. Japan tour comanies are hard to find, and this one is the one to go with

Wonderful day tour in Shimizu with Local Travel Partners
My husband and I were making a cruise around Japan and like private or small groups for visiting. As everyone goes to visit Hakone and the hot springs we preferred to watch Mt Fuji from another angle and much less crowded. Through Local Travel Partners we hired an English speaking driver and his car. Via email I communicated with Hirokane Ishikaki, who was always very quick to answer ( before our trip, during and even afterwards), is kind, very professional and efficient. He did is utmost best to understand and meet our needs while being one day in Shimizu. Our driver drove us around in a very safe and gentleman manner. We were not disappointed to book this tour. You can accommodate and decide what to visit. We chose Lake Ashi and the Waterfalls and were not disappointed as they are breathtaking and much less crowded than the other places. Hirokane was there to greet us at the cruise terminal and then introduced us to our driver, who was really nice.We were super lucky with the weather and got to see Mt Fuji completely which is not often. We had a marvelous day and really recommend that you book with Local Travel Partners.

Incredible 2 Days at Mt. Fuji
We booked a 2 day tour with Local Travel Partners in the Shizuoka area - the first tour with incredible views of Mt. Fuji at Lake Tanuki, Shiraito Falls, and the Fujisan Hongu Segen Shrine and the second tour seeing Miho Pine Tree Grove, the Nihondaira plateau via a ropeway (Gondola) and viewing the Kunozan Togoshu Shrine. Both tours were incredible and our driver, Mr. Tetsuya Nakazawa, was incredibly professional, friendly, and very patient with us which allowed us to take many photos - providing us time to be in the moment as we enjoyed the majesty of Mt. Fuji. These were truly the most memorable 2 days of our trip to Japan. As an unexpected plus, Tetsuya presented us with an SD card of photos he took of us while we were touring. We knew he was taking pictures but didn’t realize he took 101 photos! It’s not common to have your entire group in the photo as we are always taking photos of each other. This was above and beyond our expectations! Arranging the tours with Mr. Hirokane Ishikaki was very quick, detailed, and flexible, providing us various options while planning our itineraries. There were never any surprises and communication was professional. He even met us at the start of our tours to ensure everything was ok. I highly recommend this company for tours in the Mt. Fuji area - they’re local and experts in the area, and they’ll help you beat the crowds to capture incredible memories!

      Bikes and sights
I absolutely loved this tour! My three male travel companions were not as enthusiastic about the prospect of a bike tour however really enjoyed it - much to their surprise. It was a real pleasure to see some sights outside of downtown as well as get some fresh air and exercise to burn off a few soba noodles :) I especially treasured the insights from Hero who showed us where he grew up, where his mate’s cafe is, and where he played mahjong as a teenager. It was great to help imagine “real life” in Shizuoka. Thank you so much, we’ll definitely be in touch if we travel to the region again (fingers crossed!).

A day in Shimizu and Shizuoka Japan
Arrival Shimizu Port was via cruise ship. Through Local Travel Partners I hired an English speaking driver and his car. Via email I communicated with Hirokane Ishikaki. I explained our interest in hiring an English speaking driver and car to transport us to the multiple places which we were interested in seeing in Shimizu and in Shizuoka during the 9 hours we would be in port. we met Hirokane at their mbooth located in the port by the ship. He introduced us to our driver Terry Nakada who was personable, charming and professional. We visited The Kunozan Toshogu shrine and museum via the required Nihondaira Ropeway, stopped at the Greenpia Tea plantation to purchase tea and look at Mt. Fugi, visited Miho No Matsubara beach/pine forest and looked at Mt Fugi, visit Tokaido Hiroshige Museum, stopped at the Shimizu Fish Market and returned to the cruise port. We even had time to shop at the booths set up for the cruise ship passengers. Shimizu can be quite proud of the port booth purveyors and the very nice quality local products offered. Hirokane (Local Travel Partners) was beyond helpful in understanding our needs and goals while in Shimizu for one day and Terry Nakada was excellent as a driver and gentleman. I highly recommend Local Travel Partners without reservation.

Convenient, comprehensive and affordable half-day tour
We arranged a private half-day taxi tour for two people well ahead of our cruise ship's stop in Shimuzu (the port for Shizuoka). Our driver, who spoke English, was waiting at the dock when our ship arrived. He went above and beyond the duties of a driver, taking us to everything included on two of our ship's large group excursions and even accompanying us as we visited them -- all for considerably less than the ship's versions. He was consistently friendly, polite and helpful. Our visit to the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine happened to coincide with an important ceremony, so we were able to watch and listen to some local pageantry, again aided by explanations from our driver. Note: if you arranged this trip with 3 or 4 people, it would be even more affordable. Hirokane was quite responsive and helpful via e-mail in advance of our visit.

What a delightful tour. We were a group of 6 and everyone agreed it was a wonderful day. Our tour guide Hiroko is Japanese and teaches English. She is a great communicator. She gave us lots of excellent information related to what we were seeing, and engaged everyone. She also took many group photos to give us lots of happy memories. She and our excellent driver added several surprises for us as well. When we expressed a desire to see cherry blossoms they went out of their way to ensure we saw them. They also took us to see a traditional village home, and took us to try some very good saki. We were very lucky to get beautiful pictures of Mt Fuji. That was good luck, but the tour was terrific due to the skill and personality of our guide and tour company!

Our tour with Miyuki was so fun. Even with the weather not cooperating with our agenda to see Mt Fuji, Miyuki’s knowledge of the area and history of Shimizu, as well as her jokes and delightful personality made up for the mountain being hidden by the rain and clouds. Visiting the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine was a highlight. Thank you Hirokane, for being so accommodating and rebooking our tour after it was inadvertently canceled. Thank you for a wonderful day, Miyuki, you went above and beyond to see to our comfort and enjoyment.

Excellent tour of Shimizu! Our tour guide Motoko was very sweet and knowledgeable. They were also very prompt and organized. Even though it was a rainy day and we could not see Mount Fuji she made it very enjoyable. Saw a beautiful shrine and temple, a tea farm and the sacred pine forest near the beach. She made it fun for teens as well! Highly recommend!

My group of 7 (i.e., me, my husband, our 11-year old son, grandparents + 2 fellow travelers/friends) had a wonderful day in Shimizu last week, participating in this tour with Miyuki.
Miyuki is a wonderful tour guide. ...so friendly, knowledgeable, and organized. She teaches English to local high school students. Her teaching enthusiasm shines through in her manner. The van driver was pleasant and very attentive.

We were so very fortunate to have experienced such clear skies during our time in Shimizu. The views of Mt. Fuji were breathtaking!! Our visit to the Sengen Jinja Shinto Shrine was also lovely. A beautiful and honorable place! Lastly, we enjoyed our stop at the Miho-no-Matsubara beach which also offered majestic views of Mt. Fuji.

Mother Nature was on my side for my day in Shimizu.
    Arigato!

We took a day off from the ship’s excursions. The city provides a free shuttle to the downtown area. The port is conveniently located near an area where you can do a free walking tour to a historical Inn, house, Temple and Shrine. Volunteers provide a map to the area. There is also a shopping mall nearby with a big Ferris wheel. The view of Mt Fuji from the port and while sailing away is breathtaking on a nice day. Of all the ports we visited, this was my favorite stop. It was a nice break from the concrete jungles of the big cities.

We truly enjoyed our time with Kyla visiting the sights near Shimizu. Although it was a rainy day and we could not view Mt. Fuji, the time at the Heritage Center and other spots made up for it. Upon return to the port we actually caught a glimpse of Mt Fuji making for a perfect day.

We had a wonderful day in Shimizu with Miyuki. She made it an amazing day with her kindness, humor and compassion. Everyone was really impressed with how Miyuki helped us not only understand where we were but the history, people, culture, and geography of Japan. It’s not common for a guide to be so thorough and engaging. She really cared about all of us having a great time. She also helped us find nice things to do since it was a cloudy day. I loved the Japanese Print block museum. Before we came, they had a rotating exhibit at our local museum. We loved them and were so happy to see this museum dedicated to them. They’re my favorite type of Japanese Art. Everyone was a bit disappointed since we couldn’t get the iconic shot of Mt. Fuji. Everyone was really excited to take the ropeway. Luckily, the weather cleared up enough so we could do it. It was really fun. Glad that we also got to see the beautiful shrine. We also had my 79-year-old mother with us and she made sure that she was taken care of. To get to the shrines, there were tons of steps. It was tough for all of us since they were varying sizes and heights. Initially, my mom was going to skip it and then she decided she wanted to try it. Miyuki was so kind and understanding. She gave her the time to get up there, see it and get back down. She didn’t mind that we needed to take the second ropeway. It was also great that we got to visit the tea farm. Her husband is a tea farmer. She was able to provide interesting insights into how team is farmed, harvested and enjoyed. We also got to try some tea that was very good and I don’t even like hot tea. It was great that she took pictures of all of us all day and that we got to see them and save them from the website. That allowed us to enjoy the moment more and capture our happiness from the day. We were even happy that we got her to join us in a few photos. We also connected because she had studied abroad in Ohio and my family and I are from Ohio. We could not have been blessed with a more wonderful guide. When you go to a foreign country, you want a local that is proud to share their culture and heritage with you while making it engaging and fun at the same time. That is no easy feat. Miyuki is such a lovely person and made it such a special day. She is a treasure. I hope the company and future tourists know how lucky they are to have her.

We had a wonderful tour with Miyuki. She shared lots of information with us. The transportation was very comfortable. We finished at the fish market where she showed us around and helped us order.
