Great experience!
Jan 2020 • Family
Great tour with experienced guide Sho and Marina. It was a wonderful weather and really nice view of the Japanese Alps. The guides are knowledgeable and understanding because of our slower pace (we took a lot of pictures and we have a 60-year old with us). Highly recommended! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Wonderful winter experience
Feb 2020 • Couples
The fresh snow and the sunny weather of the day made our snow shoe experience a more fantastic one. The gears that we used are well maintained. Our guide Hisa san is very knowledgable about the place and even provided us with tea and biscuits. This activity with Satoyama Experience is highly recommended for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Unique experiences on snow mountain with stunning landscape !!
Feb 2020
Our guide, Marino was so nice and friendly. She gave us lots of help and information. There many stories from natural signage on snow and trees that you can't find in other places. We highly recommend this tour of SATOYAMA EXPERIENCE. They prepared for the gears, that's so convenient for us. The route we walked was surrounded by picturesque mountain landscape that we will never forget !!!

Dear Ni, Thank you for your lovely comments! I am so happy the tour was be able to be one of your best memories in Japan. Weather is always easy to change on mountains, but it was perfect!! If you have a chance to come Hida, please visit us again. We can give you other special experience! I am waiting for you two. Thanks again. Marino from SATOYAMA EXPERIENCE.

See life in Japan off the beaten path
Feb 2019 • Couples
So far in Japan we've visited bigger cities but our snowshoeing expedition with Hisa was a chance to see a little farming village where tourists (except for those like us, I guess) rarely go. Hisa was a wonderful guide and the route was not difficult even for those of us on snowshoes for the first time (or the first time in a long time). He made it educational as well, pointing out bear claw marks on the trees and showing us pictures of the animals who made the tracks we saw. An excellent way to see the countryside and learn a little at the same time.

Thank you so much for having joined our snowshoeing tour and your lovely message! Tanekura is an amazing village where, yes not many tourist visit to. Especially this time of year. So you are really lucky to see the scenery, enjoyed the experience. Believe or not, the snow in Hida is rarely left now. Spring is definitely in the air. Hope we can see you again sometime in the future ... why not visiting Hida in the different season? All the best and take care of yourselves. Thank you.

Wonderful snow experience for the family!
Jan 2019 • Family
Wonderful first time snow shoeing experience for the family, including a 9 and 11 year old. Our guide, Hisa was wonderful, professional and friendly - thankyou! The gear provided was excellent. We booked through Nohi bus and travelled as a day trip from Takayama, great to see the countryside along the way.

Thank you so much for having joined our snow shoeing tour, and left this wonderful comments! So glad you and your kids enjoyed the experience. It's really beautiful mountain area there, I always think that it's one of loveliest areas in Japan. Hisa is an amazing guide indeed. He certainly made your experience better than you expected, I believe. Hope we see you and your family again in the future. Until then wishing you all the best. Thank you.

Fabulous snow shoeing experience
Highly recommend this trip - the team couldn’t have been more helpful in the booking (which I sorted from the UK). It’s a great trip and all the gear from boots to snow suit (shell, not lined) are provided. All sizes too! Miyuke our guide was great, so friendly and knowledgeable. We loved meeting the other 3 people on our trip too, getting an insight into Japanese culture and views on life.... a lovely experience, thank you!

Dear Marlon, How are you? I'm so sorry for the late reply to your great review. Thank you so much for your recommendation! I still remember that it was a beautiful day for snowshoeing. We even felt hot while snowshoeing in the sun. Finally, spring has come in Hida as well and offer our cycling tour in the countryside. If you like it, I'd be love to your guide again! Hope to see you again. Kindest regards, Yohei

Memorable experience
Feb 2018 • Family
Since I cant ski at the age of 60, snowshoeing is the best option for me.
Since we stayed in Takayama, Satoyama offered bus ticket option to me. Its cheaper than I buying the same ticket from Nohi station.
This ticket can be used for 2 consecutive days. It suits us fine because my children can go skiing at Honikidaira which is along that route.
On snowshoeing day, we had the whole mountain to ourselves. My husband doesnt have a waterproof trousers and was loan one. Satoyama do provide gloves etc if you do not have.
Hiro san our guide speaks excellent English and he did a great job guiding us. He pointed to more challenging path (within sight) for the energetic young people and the lead the less adventurous a easier path. He is always there to assist any of us who face difficulty.
After the snowshoeing, we are supposed to take the second ropeway but it was a windy day and second ropeway was closed for safety reasons. However we can get back a bit of refund.
The snowshoe activity wasnt as tiring as I thought. I could still walk without problem the next day.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment! Snowshoeing is the best way to immerse yourself in the majestic nature of Shinhotaka. We are happy to hear that all of you with different physical strength could enjoy the tour with no problems. Sorry that the No.3 Ropeway was closed. But it means you should come back here again to take it!! Hope to see you in the future! Best regards, Team SATOYAMA EXPERIENCE
