About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- davidsP1410GX0 contributionsExcellent Safari Company, Excellent Safari Guide, Excellent ServiceJust completed an extraordinary 8 day tour in Tanzania arranged by Rupia Adventure. Traveling with our 11 year old daughters and Mirage, our incredible guide. Amazing sightings so far which include the Wildebeest migration and stampede, lioness hunt and four (!) separate Leopard views. Lions with cubs and of course, hippos zebras giraffes and all the rest. Never a dull moment we saw everything we hoped to see and much more thanks to Mirage's expertise and vast knowledge of Tanzanian wildlife. Communication was easy due to his excellent language skills and he has a wonderfully broad knowledge base about the culture and history of Tanzania. This feels like a National Geographic tour. I will add that the roads on safari are really rough and we saw many many vehicles with flat tires. We never had an issue as Rupia Adventure is extremely vigilant with the upkeep of their tires and vehicles. This is an important consideration as you can lose a lot of time when dealing with flat tires. It was also clear that our guide Miray has a good deal of mechanical expertise should any problem arise which was reassuring. Accommodations were all excellent, huge comfortable beds, wonderful views and great food options. we will return and book a trip with Rupia Adventure and Mirage again!Written 20 February 2024
- davidsP1410GX0 contributionsOur Daughters birthdayMount Meru trek with Rupia Adventure was excited, we trekking with our young twin daughters Julie and Jann 11 years old, our guides Laurent and Maziku were very professional and strong, our cook David and rest of the team were good at all, they sang us at every camp, our daughters celebrate their birthday at the top of the mountain, Rupia Adventure gave us cake for our beautiful princess, Matt from the office offered us some equipment and others we rent for small amount, we highly recommend Rupia Adventure for anyone wanting to climb mount especially four daysWritten 20 February 2024
- 335marryd0 contributionsThank You Matt and Marr For Lifetime AdventureI would 100% recommend using Rupia Adventure for your Safari! Before we booked, they were incredibly responsive and clarified many of our questions, which allowed us to tailor our Safari plan and choose the best hotel options together with them. Then, and most importantly, we had an amazing guide - Erasto! Erasto is incredibly knowledgeable about the national parks, the animals and the overall environment. You can really tell he studied all of this at a university level, and you'll come out of your experience learning a TON about the wildlife in Tanzania (as Erasto put it - he'll transfer you 100GB worth of info). Erasto is also incredibly flexible on timing, deciding when to stop to have a break and more importantly he is great at spotting animals! He saw leopards in trees ages before we did of course, and always made sure we drove to get the best angle for each picture. He also speaks frequently with other guides to make sure he knows where the rarer finds (e.g. rhino or leopard) are hiding out. Would 100% recommend doing the Safari with Rupia Adventure and Erasto, we had a wonderful experience He can do safari tours in Spanish and French as well, ours was in English Also we thanks Matt and Marr the owner of this company. Thanks Marry & Jacob from UKWritten 19 February 2024
- 335marryd0 contributionsMount Kilimanjaro 100% Summit SuccessfulThis was an experience of a lifetime! We booked Rupia Adventure for our honeymoon based on their great reviews, and were not disappointed. From the beginning, we received excellent service. Our consultant, Janniken was extremely kind and patient despite me changing the schedule multiple times. She was very flexible to fit within our budget and added so many gears to our adventure. Our tour guide, Emanuel and Gideon, was absolutely outstanding. They are kind, knowledgable, patient and had a great sense of intuition for the best trek. We would recommend them 100% and they are the reason for us returning to Tanzania. Asante SanaWritten 19 February 2024
- suzan-mollel0 contributionsLuxury HoneymoonThere are NOT enough Good words to say about Rupia Adventures! From our first phone call (Jolanda), the excellent, immediate follow up to the Incredible, Beautiful, comfortable lodges with Great food and last, but not least, our Wonderful Guide, George! We know there is a ton of planning behind the scenes and we were very thankful but being with George, every day, just MADE our trip what it was. His expertise on everything was over the top from every animal, bird, history of the crater, the serengeti and just all of Africa and he Enjoyed teaching us! George's happy and sincere personality made us look forward to each and every day! Their "trucks" were very comfortable and George made sure WE were comfortable and noticed everything we liked to eat and drink so he surprised us daily. On our return, we would not use anyone but Rupia Adventure and we are so grateful for the memories we will have the rest of our days, thanks to George and the entire company!Written 18 February 2024

- carmenbV3853AD0 contributionsCheating companyVery bad company, cheating on your money, give you the wrong bank account number and won´t transfer the money back. Took it 3 times the money. Not picking up the phone anymore. Bad cars. bad equipment. The guides where also very unexperienced.Written 15 February 2024
- Sightseer290870662540 contributionsTour operator with unreliable equipment and trust issuesHaving booked a family safari trip, we were provided with a malfunctioning vehicle. Indeed, the first thing we did after being picked up at the hotel in Arusha was to go to the mechanic to fix the gear....a full morning lost...shameful and not professional at all to be greeted with a non-conforming car... Afterwards, when accessing Manyara Park, we were informed that the entrance was blocked due to severe rain. This is understandable. What is not acceptable is that Rupia kept the USD300 of the ticket entrance and, until today, did not return the money....shameful and again not professional... I definitely not recommend Rupia and, in particular, found that Matt did not honour his word. Bad omens for a tourism business...Written 6 February 2024

These 2 ladies we super friendly guides and took me on a day trip to Arusha National park. HIGHLY recommend Norah and Happy for their animal and nature knowledge, friendliness and enthusiasm. Happy is a great photographer. I was on a business trip with one day to spare. At the end of the day I still wanted to get some souvenirs for my family. They helped me by taking me to a local market, negotiating and we even had dinner together at a local restaurant. They even drove me to my hotel to get my luggage and dropped me at the airport. I really appreciate your additional effort and care. I had an amazing day. I would say Arusha super experience. Thank you Norah and Happy!Written 18 October 2023

My sincere thanks to Mathias for leading such a special team.Written 20 September 2023

We booked this tour 6 months in advance. It was automatically cancelled once because the operator did not confirm. When we reached out they said we should wire them money instead of using TripAdvisor so that they don't have to pay fees. We were not comfortable with this and stated that booking through TripAdvisor is what gives us security as the customer and they agreed to have us re-book.
One week before our tour we receive a message that they have money issues and will only do the tour for us if we pay them in cash. This was beyond unprofessional. Please save yourself any headache and inconvenience and find another tour operator.
Rupia, if you do not want to honor bookings on TripAdvisor and want to avoid their fees then you should remove your listings.

Ibrahim, the manager, is an Bad person! He was rude and unprofessional. The service provided was terrible. I would never ever book another trip with this guy.
The driver, Johnson, was ok and also the lady working for him, who arranged our transfers, was ok. But Matt, the man who owns the bussiness, should find something elso to do for living, as in tourism he's a disaster.

It was a bizarre experience and I would not recommend Rupia Adventure.
The pick up was 30min late because the driver got lost. The car was old, one front light didn't work and it felt like it's going to fall apart. Our guide Johnny didn't speak to us at all, instead he walked quietly in front of us. Also, he hardly spoke any English, hence didn't understand our questions-which we had to repeat multiple times for him to get it. Once he got it, he didn't know the answer. We asked for information about the Crater but he said he doesn't know the answer. (So I wonder why we need a guide than) At the end of the trip he even had the audacity to ask us if we know the rules how much we have to tip him. (Btw. I didn't give him anything)
I can not compare how other companies are- but I would recommend to try other companies.

We had a very nice day hike on the Kili, thanks to Rupia Adventure and their great logistic skills. With my 12 years old boy, I was not planning to go for many days on a hike, even though I'm fond of hiking, but as we were in Arusha so close to the Kili, it was a must for me just to step on it for few hours :) The day hike is really easy and the trail is shady so you won't suffer from the heat. The driver was safe and the guides were really friendly. We had a really good lunch box as well with too much food for us (but too much is better than not enough).

The Mt Kili 1-day hike by Rupia Adventures was the best 16km I've done in my life. From a prompt early morning pickup, drive to the Park by Joseph with a breakfast break and formalities at the entrance by guide Mescheck assisted by Mazikis I was ready. It took a few hours uphill thru the most beautiful tree cover, foliage, water falls, broken by educational pointers on plant life, sighting of Blue Monkey families in the trees above and then several larger black and white monkeys. The guides were highly attentive to every nuance of the climb, ever willing to take a breather for my sake, encouraging water intake before thirst. We reached Mandara Hut at about 9000 feet, the air just a little cooler, no packed lunch ever tasted so good, we then turned around to descend. While descending I wondered: did we climb this earlier today? Arriving back at the starting point was a feeling of great satisfaction. Credit goes to the hike organizer Matt of Rupia Adventures and the outstanding guide Meschack, assistant Mazikis and driver Joseph. If you haven't done this hike you're missing out, unless you're into the 5-day summit. Those who are safari-bound can also easily add this Mt Kili hike, it's gorgeous.

I did a day hike on the marangu route and it was really worth going for the hike. My guide Meshack told me a lot about the nature we were walking through, the Kilimanjaro routes and climbing and tried to teach me a bit of Swahili.
Transfer was good and we even stopped along the road, that I could take pictures of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

I contacted Matt a day before the tour and he was able to accommodate my request, but I had to pay in cash. I took this tour during covid-19 pandemic. I was the only participant. We hiked around 20-25km. Lunch box was provided. We took Marangu route till the first hut (Mandara) and returned to parking lot. We took a private car with driver and hiking guide. It was a nice hike with beautiful scenery.
