Fantastic Transportation with Knowledgeable Guide
Jan 2020
We were picked up at the Westin, Playa Bonita sharply at 0730, as promised by our guide. The car was clean, cooled and the best part, Alejhandro was our driver. In about a 30 to 35 minute ride to the boat launch, we were filled with accurate and informative facts about the Canal, the Gamboa River and Monkey Island. Needless to say, the transfer was great! We got to the boat launch and despite the somewhat rickety looking boat launch, we embarked on the boat. Enrique was our boat driver and Thomas was our boat guide. Needless to say, there was a wealth of information about the Canal, and all of the workings of it. We were taken to the island, where despite the other reviews, we got lucky. The WILD monkeys were active and were all over our boat and the people on it (one even crawling onto Enrique's shoulder and laying down). After seeing a sloth sleeping in the tree, many monkeys, and all kinds of other cool wild life, our tour guide took his time bringing us back, checking out a couple of other cool places, one where we saw a crocodile. We made our way back to the boat launch, where Alejhandro was patiently waiting for us for another comfortable ride to the hotel. We arrived back at the hotel around 1230. All in all, this was an outstanding trip, especially considering you are dealing with wild animals. The staff make the experience great.

Unforgettable experience
Aug 2019 • Friends
We booked this tour with no anticipation. We called this agency very late at night and fortunately we received a confirmation for doing the tour the following day in the morning. The experience was wonderful, everything was well organized and the attention was exceptional. We watched many monkeys in the different islands. We also saw two crocodiles and many different birds. This experience has been wonderful. Well done Alex, we hope the best for your tour company. Thank you so much for all the tips that were very helpful in our visit to Panama City.

Hello Andy: Thank you for your comments. This tour was amazing. In the Monkey Island tour we saw not only 3 different species of monkeys but we were able to see crocodiles herons, kites, one toucan, etc. This region is very rich in biodiversity. Thank you so much for your hopes regarding our company and of course, you are invited to come again to Panama whenever you want. Cheers

This is a reply to the tour provider. I’m Lindsay’s fiancé
Jul 2019 • Couples
This is a reply to the tour provider. I’m Lindsay’s fiancé . (She was being nice) where do I begin? 1st we were told that we where getting picked up at 8am. we were waiting for 25min because the tour guide fell asleep in his car two houses down from us. I know that because he told us that when we got in the car. 2nd he hit another car while trying to make up time and just said f..k and sped off. 3rd was we had to stop for fuel and so he could look at the damage of his car after hitting the other car. 4th we did see two sloths which was cool like Lindsay said but it was on the side of a busy highway with car/truck/buses going 100kph next to us. Also, this was not him making up for not seeing monkeys per the tour providers response because this was on the way to the tour and he said that family of sloths always lives in that specific tree in June every single year. 5th the tour guide kept on telling us how tired he was from staying up all night with friends and drinking beer 6th he didn’t have any food for the monkeys so we had to go to two different shops because the first didn’t have bananas. Also, we had some fruit that we took for our own breakfast and he asked us not to eat it so we could feed it to the monkeys since he didn’t find bananas at the first shop. 7th (the tour) he didn’t speak to us at all during the boat ride through the Panama Canal. We were hoping for some information on the canal and maybe about the monkeys that live there. Instead he just spoke in Spanish to the boat captain and ignored us completely. we got to the island where the monkeys are and we only saw 4. I was ok with that because it is nature. but the tour guide said to us that other tours feed them to much and they don’t come down for food, but if he didn’t mess around and got us there when we were meant to we might have gotten to feed one. 8th on the way home he stopped at some random boat yard trying to find someone to take tourists fishing for cheap. Like literally we are sitting in the car while he walks around the boat Yard talking to people and wasted and hour of our time. I am a tour guide in Australia and by far this has got to be the most disorganized waste of time I have ever seen in my life.

I was super excited for this tour
Jun 2019 • Couples
The main point I want to make is that we only saw 4 monkeys. I was hoping they would come in the boat and climb around and we would get to feed them up close. One monkey came kind of close to the boat and we were able to throw a few grapes which he caught, but the 3 others stayed up in the trees. Note we were sharing this 1 monkey that came closest with another tour boat. Our guide said that other boats feed them way to much and they don’t come when they are full. I believe this because after a few grapes the one monkey we gave food to was full and went to lay down in the tree and didn’t want anything we were holding out. This is not exactly the tour operators fault because they can’t control what other tours do, but we were picked up a few minutes late and our tour guide had to stop once for fuel and a second time to buy some fruit. It didn’t bother me at the time, but looking back if we had gone strait to the water we maybe could have gotten there before all the monkeys were full and uninterested. The highlight was our tour guide stopped on the drive to show us a few sloths living in a tree by the side of the road. I’m sure some people have a wonderful experience when all the monkeys are hungry and waiting, but we were a bit disappointed.

Hello Lindsay: I am rewriting my answer according to your fiancé´s comments. Effectively, the tour guide designated for the tour didn´t follow the procedures and standards of the company. Based on your feedback we have already taken the necessary actions so that this type of inconvenience doesn´t happen again. Thank you again for your feedback and apologies for not having met your expectations. Regards

EXCELLING IN MONKEY BUSINESS
May 2019 • Couples
If you're fond of small furry creatures, this is a must. We recently made our fourth trip to Panama and it just keeps getting better. We found Monkey Adventures online and were able to make a last-minute booking. We called around 8 in the morning (a Tuesday) and Alex said he could pick us up in Panama City at 10a. He was there right on time and drove the two of us to the boat ramp at Gamboa, about an hour north of the city. The boat driver, Edwin, was literally pulling up as we walked down to the boat ramp. We boarded -- it was just the two of us and Alex -- and headed into Lake Gatun, which is part of the Panama Canal. We passed e-n-o-r-m-o-u-s cargo ships (up to 1400 feet long) on our way to the island. As we cruised along the shoreline, Edwin and Alex pointed out turtles, snail kites iguanas and a family of howler monkeys that appeared to be sleeping it off in a tree high overhead. After a few minutes, Edwin nosed the boat into the bank and a small capuchin monkey leapt aboard to take a banana offered by Alex. Apparently this particular monkey, Lalo, was captured and kept as a pet by some people in the city. When they began neglecting him, Edwin rescued Lalo and returned him to the island. Lazlo quickly figured out that Sabrina is a magnet for animals. Not only did he gingerly take bananas from her hand, he licked her palm to get the last of the good stuff off. After eating for about 15 minutes, he climbed into Sabrina's lap and refused to leave, nearly falling asleep several times as she scratched his head and belly. Alex resorted to making a trail of banana pieces along the gunnel of the boat to encourage Lazlo to get back on the island. After another 10 minutes or so, he did finally jump from the boat back to the safety of the trees. Alex said Lazlo is friendly, but he's never seen him cling to someone like that before. It was like he wanted to go home with us. The rest of the tour was terrific, but, how could you beat that? There are some other comments about this tour being very "touristy," and, sure, it doesn't require a six-day hike through the jungle. One of the things we like about Panama is that many attractions are readily accessible, and this is one of them. I was able to get closeup video of a white-tailed iguana and a couple of Geoffroy's tamarins (a.k.a. "titi" monkeys) who also came onto the boat at another stop. While the tamarins were with us, another tour boat -- this one loaded with about 20 people -- pulled up to gawk. The tamarins wouldn't go onto the other boat because it was so crowded. So, the few extra bucks we spent for our tour was well spent. Alex was terrific. A former accountant from Mexico city, he speaks impeccable English and has applied his attention to detail to learning about Panama's environment. Alex and his business partner started the business about six months ago, and if they keep giving tours like this one, they're going to be very successful. They've already expanded their offerings with outings to an Embera Village, up to the Spanish forts in Colon and others. Thanks for a great day Alex!

From the time we got in the vehicle, the adventure started! It was the best tour on our visit! We loved the owner's thorough explanation of Panamá history. He made us feel so comfortable and we really appreciated his passion for the country. We will definitely return to this company for future tours. Alenjandro (Alex) was prompt and made us feel comfortable the entire trip. A must see TOUR!

Just FANTASTIC !!!
May 2019 • Couples
As many tourists we where upset by the prices of the activities by the Hotel operator...we’ve found Monkey Adventures on the internet and even if the story says don’t go out of the Hotel with unknown companies by the Hotel. We did it! And ....no any regret! It was just Fantastic! We discovered a lovely guide! Tnx Alex!!! But in addition. We where just the two of us...we saw some other tourists leaving on our return boat trip and they where like sardines in a box on the boat, we where 2 :-) search the error...what we’ve paid is the Half of the price of the Hotel...and this for a private tour...amazing. Don’t hesitate this is a wonderfull company with an amazing knowledge. We can’t wait to be monday to do the Embera village with you guys!

Great tour, great guides, ok duration.
Overall the experience was great. We decided short term that we wanted to book a trip to monkey island at the same day and contacted the company via WhatsApp. Alex instantly replied and managed to squeeze us in. We were picked up at our hotel and transferred to the boat moorings. During the transfer we were told a lot of interesting facts about Panama and the Panama Canal. After arrival we started the boat trip and were accompanied by a super nice guide, who explained a lot about the flora and fauna of the panama canal. We saw a lot of animals, e.g. huge crocodiles an monkeys close to the boat. After the trip, we were transferred back to our hotel. If there is one little dowside, then its the "short" time on the boat. From our hotel in Casco Viejo to the boat moorings its a 45 minutes drive + the same time for the way back while the actual boat trip only ran at 45 minutes. However, we would definetely recommend the trip and this company.
