Overview

Taking a guided tour of the Panama Canal allows you to hop between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans with minimum hassle. This experience allows you to enjoy Monkey Island and enjoy a picnic lunch near the Gatun Dam before exploring San Lorenzo National Park and Fort San Lorenzo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Plus, lunch and round-trip transportation from Panama City hotels are included for added convenience.

What to Expect
After hotel pickup in an air-conditioned minibus, your tour begins with a 90-minute boat ride on the waterways adjacent to the canal: you'll see jungle wildlife, navigate Gatun Lake, and watch massive ships pass through the canal.

Visit the famous Monkey Island, home to capuchins, howlers, and tamarins, before traveling to the Caribbean side of Panama and the Agua Clara Visitor Center. Here, you'll watch ships pass through the newly expanded “Panamax” locks from a canal-side observation deck and learn about the history, operation, and importance of the Panama Canal.

Next, you'll visit San Lorenzo National Park to see rainforest flora and fauna followed by a picnic lunch and a tour of Fort San Lorenzo, a 400-year-old Spanish fort on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. One of the most historically important spots in Panama, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the fort repelled pirates as part of the defensive system that protected the transatlantic trade of the Spanish Crown.

Your full-day tour ends with a return to your hotel in Panama City.

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough

Our guide (Enrique) was friendly and informative and provided us with a fun day out. I'll never forget the instruction 'everyone out!' when a sloth was seen. I had informed Enrique in advance that I am vegetarian and was really impressed with the great effort...More
