Zahi (Issac) Shaked was an excellent tour guide, sharing his knowledge of the Golan Heights and including several “surprise” stops that truly enriched our experience with that region. We especially found the costume experience at the Katzrin museum to be fun and imaginative. Thank you, Isaac, for a GREAT day!!

This Golan Heights tour was amazing and worth every cent! Yoav is very knowledgeable and kept up a continuous stream of information the whole day! He made it so interesting and has a good sense of humor. Small group - 4 of us - which also made a difference. We all got on extremely well.
Thank you for a memorable tour!

We were hosted by Ami and Udi. I hope my spelling is correct.
What an amazing and interesting day. So much information and knowledge of the Golan heights as well as information on the bus as we drove out to Golan heights and the Sea of Galilee, Armageddon etc etc. Ami was particularly knowledgeable on the military history of the Golan heights, which was fascinating.
We were so well entertained and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the tour. Thank you so much.

We went on the full day tour from Tel Aviv to the Golan Heights, stopping at the old IDF bunkers where you could see the Syrian and Lebanese borders. Then we drove to the ancient house and synagogue at Katzrin, and then to the Jordan River.

Our tour guide was Eli. On the trip from Tel Aviv he spoke a lot about the places we were passing through, and that was really interesting. He often added his own political spin on certain things, without being asked for this, but it was relatively low key so I didn't mind.

He was also good at explaining the complicated situation with the Druze in Israel who have relatives in Syria. He was also good at explaining the political situation in Syria.

But he didn't explain much history about how Israel won the Golan Heights. He did not actually explain the battle that took place in the Valley of Tears, other than a brushed off comment about seven thanks against 300. What year? Did they win? Did they die? Who were the soldiers? Were there acts of heroism? We're the bunkers created then or later? What were they used for? Guess I'll have to do my own research online because paying a tour guide turned out to be pointless.

But that's not even the worst part. When we got to the 1800 year old synagogue in Katzrin, he spent 2 minutes explaining what the site was and approximately 25 minutes preaching his political opinion on the Orthodox Jews and the supremacy of the Supreme Court. Needless to say, he hates the Orthodox. He tried to say that this rant against them related to the type of issues that existed at the time of Jesus, but it was very clear he just loves telling uninformed tourists how the Orthodox are horrible, canniving dole bludgers who impose their will on everyone. If that's his opinion that's his business, but why should I pay to hear it?! I wanted to learn about an excavated synagogue that was built 1800 years ago. I know nothing about it, but I'm $300 out of pocket.

I paid for a guide to tell me about historical sites. I didn't get that. I did not pay for a political lecture.

I can't say if this is reflective of the company but this particular guide is not worth your money.

Dear Houseofbran, Thank you for sharing this with us. We have several guides named Eli. We need to investigate and take the matter up directly with the guide once we know exactly who it was. We require that all our guides adhere to the Tourist Guide Code of Ethics according to which he/she is supposed to be impartial, unbiased and positive, and represent Israel objectively. We assure you that on our tours we try to avoid discussions on international politics because it is a tour on cultural and not political sites. We regret the tour did not meet your expectations. We hope to offer you better services in the future. Sincerely yours, Bein Harim Tourism Services team

Had an outstanding time visiting the Golan Heights. Our tour guide Yoav was a very professional and highly experienced tour guide and provided us with lots of interesting information and insights throughout the day. We took a number of short breaks on our way to the Golan Heights which allowed us to get some refreshments or take pictures. Yoav always made sure that everyone feels comfortable and can follow his explanations. I will definitely book another tour with Bein Harim and can highly recommend this tour company! Toda!

Our guide Zahi Shaked was well informed, passionate about the land. He gave it his 150% even on the way back, he is so much a giver that he shared more info with us. Throughout the tour he took care to encourage us to be mindful of the importance of drinking continually. He somehow created a sense of community between us by treating everyone's needs fairly and with care. He created a comfortable atmosphere conducive for all of us to getting to know our fellow adventurers. He was authentically supportive of each individual and had an intuitive sense of what we were about acknowledging this in an informal and supportive manner.

Today is my last day in Israel. I didn't plan to come back for a while. But this trip to the north motivates me to return next year or the year after to explore the north. Thank you!

The tour was fascinating, Yoav Malachi was the best guide I have had so far and very attentive in making sure we got to see amazing sites off the beaten track. His knowledge was extensive and he was able to explain in great detail the history of the Golan heights as well as the ongoing issues facing the region. The tour was comfortable and we had time for some coffee stops along the way :-). On the way back Yoav was able to tell us a lot about Israel's history and a very interesting story about Yonaton Netanuyahu and the back story of the family. I was fascinated and now intrigued to read up even more. Thank you Yoav for a memorable trip.

This tour was the 3rd day in a 10 day tour I booked with Ben Harim. Of the 3 days tour guides, he is the best guide so far. He took great care to explain the surrounding countryside and the landmarks on the tour. The history of the 1973 war with Syria from summit of mount Bental overlooking the line of ceasefire was gripping. Also his explanation of the life on a Jewish community in Katzrin was detailed and lively. As this is a long tour on the bus, having a tour guide who anticipates the timing the bus will pass the places and will point out places of interest at the right time is invaluable. I didn’t come with high expectations but I was very pleasantly surprised at the difference a good guide can make to a tour.

Had a great time on Lorne's tour of the Golan Heights. Sometimes on organized yours, you get the feeling the tour guide is more interested in kickbacks from souvenir shops, etc, but not with Lorne. We saw many different views, and I had a great time. He gave us good background/history as well as more current events. Also, he's funny! I quite enjoyed his sarcasm, it made the trip even more fun. Would take another tour with him in a heartbeat.

Our tour to the Golan started off with an hour delay, Yoav quickly diffused frustrations and made sure the group experienced the entire tour. It was a smaller group of around 24 people from all over the world who started as strangers yet ended as friends. The Golan sites are rich in both Israeli and biblical history, Yoav was extremely knowledgeable in both areas and spent a great deal of drive time delving deeper into questions that came up at each site. I’ve been on tours with guides that slant their talking points according to their own ideology, but Yoav was careful to respect the various views that are inherent with a diverse group from all over the globe. He represented his country as well as the tour group with professionalism, I highly recommend his tours!
