See Chiang Mai’s countryside on a bike tour that explores a Buddhist temple, a former lepers’ colony, a traditional craft studio, and more, all with gorgeous views of rice paddies and mountain ranges. Following quiet, laid-back roads, this bike tour is a great way to experience Chiang Mai beyond the bustling city center’s tourist destinations. The tour includes market snacks, drinks, and a light Thai lunch of curried noodles.
What to Expect
Make your way to a centrally located meeting point in Chiang Mai, where you’ll be fitted with a bike and helmet. Set out along the Ping River, pedaling with views of mountains, fields, and farms.

You’ll pass Wiang Kum Kam, once the capital of the Lanna kingdom, and pause to learn about Thai spirituality at a local Buddhist temple. Next, visit the McKean Rehabilitation Centre, a former lepers’ colony that’s now a refuge for people with physical disabilities. Pedal by an elementary school that serves children from the area’s hill tribes, and see local craftsmen creating pottery using traditional techniques.

Make hourly snack stops throughout the ride: Try a sweet at a local bakery, sample market fruits and delicacies, and visit a local restaurant for a light lunch of curried noodles (khao soy kai) that are a Northern Thai classic.

The bike tour ends at the original departure point.

Fantastic tour to discover the green side of Chiang Mai

This is a nice tour where you see rice and ginger fields, temples, ruins, school and a local restaurant. We started at 8 Am, so the temperature was still very nice. Our guide Dieuw did a fantastic job. Thank you very much.
