This was a disappointing experience and a terrible value. It is essentially a very expensive shuttle. Our unmasked guide Robert coughed much of the trip, and told us way too much about himself and how good a guide he is, and not nearly enough about what to do at Mount Vernon (leave yourself at least 45-60 minutes for the museum and interactive video), and consider the restaurant instead of the food court. Btw, on the way back into DC when describing museums, Robert told us how to sneak into the National Cathedral without paying, and described the Holocaust museum by saying that it has “the shoes” and “a railcar” instead of saying that it describes the rise of Hitler, WWII, the horrors of the concentration camps …. Really offensive.

My sister and I chose this company by TA recommendation. Dr. Ali was our driver. It took some time to load and leave. The short bus we used was filthy with empty soda bottles rolling around.

I don't know if it was the roads or the lack of good shocks, but the ride was extremely rough. Several of us called out going over particularly large bumps.

He narrated along the drive but it was very difficult to hear him with the loud AC and his accent.

We did not get on the grounds until 3:30 with our tour of the main house at 4. This left us 30 minutes to wander about by ourselves. However, the docent would not allow us to enter until our full party was there and let other groups in before us. I don't think we got into the house until 4:15. One of the docents in there was extremely rude to a member of our party who did not speak English.

We did not realize they closed at 5, so we missed seeing the remainder of the grounds as they directed is to exit the area.

He was nice enough to drop some off us off in old town Alexandria to grab dinner. He was very expressive that this meant we find our own way back, which we were aware of.

Not a bad way of getting there, but choose the earlier tour.

This tour is basically a shuttle service to Mt. Vernon and back. We had two different drivers on the way-up and back, so they were not on the same page when it comes to what was covered by each other. Also, our drivers really didn't offer much insight to Mt. Vernon or Alexandria and it's history. On the way the tour guide didn't even use a microphone, so road noise and people talking made it impossible to clearly hear them talk about the sites. We were told we'd have the opportunity to stop at Christ Church in Alexandria, but that didn't happen. We breezed through Alexandria on the way up and back with no real opportunity to see the sites accept from a moving van as we drove by. On the way back one person got off the van since they wanted to spend more time in Alexandria and they could clearly see this tour wasn't going to offer this. As far as Mt. Vernon, they drop you off and pick you up. You get about 2 hrs to see all of Mt. Vernon which is barely enough time. I would recommend driving yourself and skipping this if possible, but if you just need a ride to Mt. Vernon this is your shuttle service.

Great day out of DC with Joe as our driver. He arrived promptly in the minibus at the pickup stop and gave us some info on the way to Mount Vernon. I liked that the tickets including the Mansion tour were already reserved for us, then we had around 3 hours to explore the estate before getting picked up again at 3pm. Mount Vernon was a must-see and very enjoyable and the onsite canteen was very reasonably priced for lunch. Lots of families and school tours but only to be expected. A very interesting trip which included stopping by a few notable buildings in old Alexandria. And always nice to meet fellow travellers on the bus. A good tour - thank you.

The tour guide was great. Losts of history in the area and he pointed out a lot. Only down side was the bus was overbooked by 1 and cramped seating in the back. Mount Vernon is something everyone needs to see. I was amazed at everything GW did after office.

Paid $80 essentially for a bus ride to Alexandria and admission into Mt. Vernon. Because if traffic and narrow streets its was difficult for the driver to drive and talk at the same time. Mt. Vernon is a self guided tour. The mansion was packed and their guides moved everyone through quickly without telling us what we were looking at. A better tour choice is simply the free virtual on line tour on the Mt. Vernon website.

The driver was very knowledgeable, although when we said the tour was not what we paid for, including transport back to DC, he threatened to turn around if we were going to request a refund. The tour was not as listed in description and there was no transportation back to the pickup destination. We were left at Arlington Cemetary to figure out a way back to Washington DC.

Joe and Bobby were my drivers and they were informative and friendly. Note that the Mount Vernon tour is self-guided, the drivers won't accompany you after you are dropped off. They pick you up in the same spot 3 hours later. To go into the house, your timed ticket does include a guided portion from the venue's staff. Ticket is provided by Loba Tours.
If you don't have a car, this is a cost effective option.

Mount Vernon and Old Alexandria are fantastic places. Unfortunately , the tour started approximately 30 minutes late, the mansion was closed due to annual maintenance as well as the food court, the visit to Old Alexandria was from the van and the driver was not receptive at the moment of our complaints.
The tour guide/driver," resolved the situation" giving us back $7.00 per person from a ticket that cost $80, because of the inconvenience!
Again, the places are beautiful but the tour operator sold us something that obviously we didn't get!

This was a really enjoyable day out including a boat ride from Washington DC to Mount Vernon. The boat has both an indoor seating area, where you can buy tea/coffee and snacks, and an outdoor area on the upper deck. Unfortunately on the day we went there was a biting cold wind so we didn’t spend as much time outside as we would otherwise. However we were still able to see some impressive wildlife looking through the window, including an osprey nesting on top of a buoy!
Mount Vernon itself is fantastic. The grounds are impressive and are set up to show how the various out-buildings would have been used in the time George Washington lived there. Also included with your ticket is a tour of the Mansion which is definitely worth doing. The guides are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and really engaging too.
Don’t forget to enjoy the stunning views of the Potomac River from the far side of the mansion, before you head back to the boat, too!
