My wife and I went in this tour today and had the pleasure of being guided around the city by Lauri who was an exceedingly knowledgeable guide, not only about the food but also about the history of this wonderful city. We learnt so much about the place as not only does Lauri have excellent knowledge he also has a passion for what he is delivering.
We were very lucky in that there were only the 2 of us on our tour so it became a very private one which was really good for us.
We got to experience some dishes that we most probably wouldn’t have chosen if it was left to us but I can honestly say we both really enjoyed all of the food we tasted today, made all the nicer by lauri’s explanation around the dishes.
We were really pleased that we done this tour whilst we still have a few more days to explore the city as Lauri has given us some really good advice on places to visit which we would have missed out on if we hadn’t done the tour.
Overall this was a really great way to see the city and we would highly recommend the tour to anyone coming to Tallinn and maybe thinking of doing it, you won’t be disappointed if you do.
Finally a very big thank you to Lauri for all the input and facts , you made it a great 3 hours

Dear Anthony, I am really glad to learn you liked our Tallinn Food Tour and thank you for the nice review on this! I will definitely pass on your kind words to our tour guide Lauri. It was and is our pleasure to show you around and introduce to the local history, culture and cuisine at same time, and we'll definitely improve our food tours even further, so you're welcome to come back and join some of our food tours at any time! Sincerely, Paul Toots (CEO)

I enjoyed an excellent tour with Paul, (whose English is exceptional) around various eateries. Many of these I would never have found on my own and the food in each of them was excellent!
All the stops were wonderful and with Paul’s first-hand knowledge of the history of the city and the country was fascinating.
Highly recommended way to see the city, experience the food, culture and history!

Paul was a great tour guide! We stopped at several places over the three hours and experienced a wide variety of food and drink. It was fun learning more about the history and context of Tallinn despite a very rainy day. Highly recommend - very memorable!

Nice combination of history and food. Everything was very local and Lauri did a great job. The places we went were different than the website which was fine and I think we had more stops than listed as well. Always nice to end at a craft brewery. I wish we had done this earlier to then no some good restaurants to go back to.

We toured with Paul and had a great experience sampling some of the best of Estonia. He was kind to tour us even on a National Holiday Jaanipaev. Our favorite part was Balti Jaam market and pancakes. We are from Scottsdale, AZ and love food tours wherever we travel - so knowledgeable and we learned more than just about food. Thank you. Gerda & M.

Thank you for your kind feedback! It was my pleasure to show you around in Tallinn though yes, it was a bit challenging in terms a lot of eateries and cafés and venues were closed due to national holiday in Estonia. I really enjoyed the tour and time spent together on that day. All the best and until next time! Paul

We are a couple in our early 40s and have travelled extensively for work and pleasure.

IN SUMMARY:
Very good private tour. Over a nicely paced 3-hours, the very pleasant guide provided a great all round and most enjoyable education about the Estonian culinary scene, an overview of the Tallinn Vanalinn (old town), and discussions about Estonia in general. Good value, highly recommended.

My wife and I met Nicolai for what would become a most pleasant stroll through Vanalinn’s oldest and newer cafes, delis, restaurants, and places of interest. Most things we were more than likely never to have experienced, but we are familiar now and pretty much loved them!:

- Schnapps (Juniper??)
- Traditional Soups
- Traditional rye leib (bread)
- Kali
- Beet hummus (really?... yes and good!)
- Very pure vodka (we think!?)
- Truffles
- Chocolates
- Kama
- Sprats and wild mushroom in a contemporary smorgasbord presentation
- Rhubard wine

All tasty, interesting and with story to tell :) All of this made for a fantastic way to appreciate Tallinn in a creative and “real” way where you see places where residents lived traditionally and what they are now enjoying. We also really enjoyed the little surprise gifts along the way. Really nice touch.

Nicolai was really a pleasure as a guide, host and conversationalist. He was laid back, while peaking our interest with facts and anecdotes. He was easy to speak with regarding any questions we had, and certainly represented Estonia well and gave us a well-rounded appreciation and respect for the under-the-radar, but most impressive Estonian people and culture.

Many thanks, Nicolai!

Happy trails!!!

We spent a great day with our guide, Nicolai, wondering the streets of old town Tallinn! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Tallinn which enhanced our enjoyment of the day and food. Really felt like we had a great overview of Estonian cuisine, tried many food items we would never have attempted. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in good food and good company!!

We had the pleasure of a private tour with Rasmus as we were the only ones who have booked this tour. Rasmus first asked us for our experiences with Tallinn and as we´ve been here before he skipped the basic history. We started out with a pumpkin parsnip soup at Peppersack plus a honey pepper vodka. Café Reval served the Estonian version of the Russian Pelmeni filled with lamb and a fresh carrot apple juice. The next stop was Chocolala - great chocolate and a nice museum. We continued through the historic downtown area and strolled through Katariina Gild (local artists) and along the historic city wall. We went to Café Maiasmokk next for a shake with fresh strawberries and kefir with Kama. We also got served dark bread with sprouts. We continued to the historic pharmacy (Antik Raeapteek) for some Panis Martius (marzipan) which was invented there (as the legend goes). Last stop were the new market halls behind the central station. There we tried at café So Brooklyn a fresh waffle filled with Kama cream cheese (Kama is grinded and roasted grain mix with either beans or peas) and a coffee. We ended up buying Kama at the supermarket on the lower level of the market as we liked it so much. Rasmus really did a great job and we can highly recommend this tour.

Great tour, I enjoyed it very much, even though I did not expect Estonian food to be anything special (and it is not really). I loved the beer, and the rye bread was just fantastic. I believe we visited 6 restaurants.
