About
Perfect opportunity to taste 4 unique Slovak wines in the dark, where you will find out what an amazing job can do your senses when the lights go down.
The tasting is in a historical cellar from 17th century in the heart of Bratislava, close to the other interesting things to do in a centre of our beautiful city.
Plus:
1. Your senses will grow much stronger. Since your eyes cannot see, the smell will try to do the work instead.
2. You will learn how to taste and smell properly. It is a technique that can be learned.
3. You will not have any predjustice. Conscious, nor unconscious. Our brains can do awesome things. You will be surprised.
4. The wines we produce on Slovakia were served to the royal families, on 1st class deck on Titanic and even to the two worlds powerful men.

- megmegmegmegmegmegme0 contributionsYou won’t regret booking this activityI booked this for myself and my partner, even though he is not into wine. I dragged him along but within moments of being there we both started to thoroughly enjoy the experience. The wines were well thought out, with great variety. Michel was an excellent host. We learned so much about wine too. We really recommend trying this activity if you come to BratislavaWritten 28 June 2024

- T1844NHsuek0 contributionsLovely wine tasting experience with KristinaMy friends and I stumbled upon Tmavá on a Monday night. We didn’t make a reservation or called in advance, but still received a great service. Kristina helped and guided us through tasting a few different wines from Slovakia. My friends and I aren’t too experienced with wine but Kristina made us feel very comfortable and encouraged to share what we feel. She had a great knowledge and knew how to share it with us in easy-to-understand terms. She asked us where we are from and about wines from our region - Ontario - and recommended us some unique ice wine based on what we described. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this place for anyone who would like to learn more about Slovakian wine or simply enjoy delicious wine with your friends and/or loved ones.Written 21 November 2023
- Rawisi0 contributionsAmazing Wine CellarThey have a fine collection of high quality local wines. The location is a brick vaulted ceiling cellar that takes you back in time. The wine sommelier and his assistant are friendly and knowledgeable. They offer a large variety of wine tastings at competitive prices. If you like wine I highly recommend you check this place out. It's amazing.Written 14 November 2023

- Susan M0 contributionsUnique and fun experienceKristina was so friendly and so knowledgeable. It was very easy to acclimate to the darkness - which was really total darkness. We tasted several great local wines and learned a lot about wine intensity, aroma and taste. Water and bread was provided. It was a very unique experience - two and a half hours went by very quickly!Written 11 November 2023
- Gillian B0 contributionsMarvellous fun - with knowledgeable host Christina.Totally recommend this experience. Christina was an excellent host with great knowledge ( and perfect English - as we sadly had no Slovak). Very relaxed, no sales pitch - in fact the opposite as no export available as the Slovakian population can manage to enjoy all the wine they produce. I’m not surprised. It’s fab.Written 10 November 2023
- alicaquiet0 contributionsWine tasting inthe dark - extraordinary experience with excellent sommelier in Bratislava. The place, scenario, conditions and organizers were really great. - lightswillguideyou0 contributionsInteresting and funThe woman (don’t remember her name!) who held the tasting for us was super knowledgeable and friendly. She shared her personal motivation for wanting to learn about wine, and shared her wisdom with us. We were introduced to Slovakian winemaking in a lovely way. Ended up buying two bottles of the wine we liked the most. We were the only ones there so our teacher had extra time for us, which I think was a plus.Written 23 September 2023
- sarahSkippers0 contributionsHighlight of the day!We strolled around town and came across the signs for Michalská and got curious. We went down to a charming winecellar. We got the 'quick' winetasting witch ended up taking almost an hour because we had such great conversations with the hostess. Also we learned a lot about Slovak wine, since we tasted 12 of them - 10/10 would recommend !!Written 22 August 2023
- al_betav20230 contributionsBrest wine experienceSuper nice activity in Bratislava 3 wine samples for free and other 9 for just 6,90€/pp They also offer wine degustation in the darkness, we also liked it very much.Written 20 August 2023
- Jvp20010 contributionsFantasticThis was just great! We went in and got the free wine tasting, the wines are from Slowakije and they were very good! Also the woman who helped us was really friendly and nice. They take time for you and they aren't pushy. Just do this if you are there, you won't regret it! :)Written 18 August 2023

This was a fascinating and funny experience. It is not a gimmick, it is actually true that your senses become more acute when you are in the dark, and it was an absolutely illuminating insight into wine and wine tasting. The commentary which explained about the wines was funny as well as informative. It lasted 40 mins, and I wondered how they would stretch out the wine tasting over that time. But the time literally whipped by. It really was our highlight of Bratislava....and we keep telling anyone who will listen about it

Wow! My friend and I ended up doing the wine tasting in the dark experience quite unexpectedly. We were tempted by the free wine tasting sign outside, but once inside we decided to pay for the experience to taste wine in the dark! I think you can book advance for this too but we turned up 10 minutes prior and there was lots of availability.
We went into the wine cellar and a very friendly member of staff talked us through the process. The lights then went off and it really was pitch black!
We tasted various wines, guessed their colour, all were Slovakian and had a unique taste. As a wine lover I really enjoyed them all. My friend isn't a big wine fan but still very much enjoyed.
We were both feeling a little tipsy after because you do get a generous serving of each one - it isn't just a drop!
Well worth it. This was one of the best things we did in Bratislava.

A new experience but a superb one! Right in heart of Old Town, in newly refurbed downstairs "cellar", we were welcomed by the team who explained the experience & talked us through any questions and shared views on wine generally. They have a good range of less tasted Slovakian wines and a detailed knowledge of them. The tasting is great fun, very well narrated & conducted with lots of opportunity to interact. We tasted the 4 wines plus a lovely bonus we were so impressed with that we bought a bottle to come home.
A truly different, fun & informative session run by professional guys who loved to share their knowledge & to hear your views.

Fantastic experience, particular, rediscover the only true senses to taste wines such as smell and taste. In the dark without being distracted by the surrounding environment enhances even more the wine and the story perfectly told by the boys, very kind .. excellent professionals. If you are a wine lover it is an experience that must be done , in the dark the boy equipped with an infrared visor turns between the tables and pours the wine thus being able to perceive only his presence in deafening silence... Thank you Bratislava be short a great beautiful and cozy city to spend a weekend ... with friends and / or family... see you soon .

Until you've tried this unique experience you can never fully appreciate the complexity of wines in general.
It is pitch black 100% but it is because of this that your senses of both smell and taste are heighten allowing you to identify the combination of ingredients within each wine.
If you're visiting Bratislava I guarantee you'll love this fabulous, informative taste of true Slovakian wines.

A great, unique experience. Came across it completely by chance. Very nice staff. Wine tasting with a difference. The narrator had shared great information. There were only two of us and so our wishes were well taken into account, I don't know what it would be like if there had been more of us. At times the narrator was a bit too fast for me, so there was hardly any time to think. Great location in a beautiful vaulted cellar. Absolute recommendation.

We have already had several wine tastings, but this one was really perfect! Kristina did a fantastic job. We never felt like we were under time pressure and she not only told us about the wines but also about Slovakia and Bratislava. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to Bratislava!

Wine tasting in the dark was absolutely fantastic! We had not booked in advance but passed by and could be in the group if soon would start. The staff spoke English, were very welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable.
The guide was easy to follow and gave very interesting information about the wine types, grapes, Slovak wine production, what we could smell and taste...

Really nice and different experience, nothing we have ever done before. Leaves you laughing with a tiny hint of paranoia being sat in complete darkness. This is something we would definitely do again. I thought my taste was on point until I went here and realised my taste buds are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Really fun.

Hello, I was wondering if you would consider doing a Wine tasting session on the 3rd September 2024 if a group of 3 of us paid double the price? Also you could open the session up to everybody else aswell, doesn't have to be a private session. Just me and my friends saw this and really want to do it but we can only do the 3rd or the morning of the 4th september. Thank you
