- sansona02000Great day! Worth the money spent!Today we had a great tour at Devin's Castle and a 5km hike around the area together with Peter our tour guide. Highly recommended.. shared with us Slovakian sweets and apple brandy for the cold weather... so nice of him😊
- Compass3407049959500So much to think aboutMaros was a fantastic guide, and he drove us by Skoda and transported us by stories and facts to so many fascinating places and times. Our hope was to get a window into life and attitudes and thought during Soviet times and our hope was completely fulfilled. Maros is personable, fun, well prepared, thoughtful, open to questions and discussion, frank and respectful. We recommend this tour without reservation. And it was fun to see how other drivers and pedestrians looked at us in our stylish Skoda!
- charlottelT6443NP00Great Guided Bike Tour Around BratislavaIn October 2022 I took the Bratislava Identity Bike Tour with Braňo, and close to a year later I still remember how fun it was! In a bit over 4 hours we cycled an easy 11 mi/18 km through Bratislava's Old Town and across the Danube to places such as old WWII military bunkers. Braňo was a very outgoing and entertaining guide, and the stories he told about Bratislava/Slovakia/Czechoslovakia were fascinating - not just your standard "This church was built by this king in year XXXX," but modern history, politics, and things to really give you a feel about what it's like to live/have lived in Bratislava. This bike tour was the best thing I did during my trip to Bratislava. I highly reccomend this bike tour as well as Authentic Slovakia as a company. If I were to ever take more day tours in the Bratislava area, I would definitely book another tour with them!
- joesI1473QM00Outstanding - book it!This tour was simply outstanding. And I have done many. Maros our guide understood the socio-economic and cultural history of Slovakia and of the whole of Eastern Europe's internal and international relationships from all angles yet somehow managed to tailor all of the for all of us in a fascinating way. Superb. And the ride itself was marvellous. As was the stop for a beer. I made the mistake of paying twice, having paid months ago online to secure a booking with this must do tour. I was emailed 30 minutes after with a refund. Honest, talented, wonderful. Book it ..... but book early.
- nekula d00Best way to see BratislavaBest way to explore the city and find out facts in the history of Bratislava. Our guide was most helpful and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour .
- Scenic5135269786900Great tour highly recommend to see the city by bikes!Good communication with with both Brano and Peter leading up to the tour date. Numbers swapped in case of any issues on the day. Punctual. Bikes were in great condition. The tour was perfectly suited for us - our lunch spot was really delicious too. Nothing was too much trouble - we didn’t feel rushed etc was a relaxed, and informative day. Would highly recommend - if we had more time we would have done another bike tour whilst there.
- 434jodyb00Fantastic afternoon in and around BratislavaWe had a great tour with Brano in his Skoda. We really enjoyed the way he included more personal and local anecdotes with some parts of the history of the city. The accompanying photo book was also interesting! Definitely recommended if you’d like to see beyond the old town of Bratislava!
- PhilippGoebel00Perfect experience - absolute recommendation! We had a trip with Marek today and it was absolutely fantastic! Very informative, humorous and with a super combination of many sights and details. If you’re in Bratislava, please make sure you book this trip - it is 100% worth it. Highlight of our three days here!
- Trek5228299673500Fantastic way to explore Bratislava city and Devin castle!Highly recommend this company! ‘Brian’ and Peter, the brothers who own Authentic Slovakia, and Martin, a new member of their company, are fun, energetic and knowledgeable. My friend and I did their private city bicycling tour and Devin Castle/communist ruins hiking tour. We saw a lot, learned about the complicated history and changing culture of Bratislava, Slovakia and the surrounding cities and countries, enjoyed the outdoors and got exercise. Their personal anecdotes and family stories added to our understanding of life under communism. As an added bonus, they provided ‘communist’ snacks - tasty soda and cookies brands/products that have been around since soviet era!
- CherylC176100Wonderful tourGreat experience seeing the ww2 and communism architecture. Brand was wonderful, sharing insights about this era. Loved standing on the old iron curtain.
- N9791LLtonym00Great bike rideMy 24 yr old son and I did did the Brataslava identity bike trip with Bano and it was just fantastic. He was so pleasant and knowledgeable. Gave us some Soviet candy and Kafola to drink. Took us to Petržalka which was very interesting. Thank you for a great bike ride Tony and Jamie McHugh Ireland
- Christine M00Great tour and information regarding communist timesOur tour to Devin castle was a highlight of our vacation. We had made changes to our trip and the company was very flexible. Our guide was open and full of information. He was also very tolerant and responsive to our children. I highly recommend this company.
- iowacityia00Sunday, April 24th bike tour.We did a post communism tour with Authentic Slovakia, around 6yrs ago. We had Brano as our tour guide. We had a great tour back then. I reached out to Brano, about our upcoming trip to Europe, and us wanting to do a bike tour with him. Email communication with Authentic Slovakia was wonderful. We also wanted to add the 2hr Iron Curtain tour to the Identity bike tour. This was no problem. We agreed on an 11am start time. Some time before our tour, Brano sent us the details on where to meet up to start our tour. Meetup was easy, and in short order we were off on their very nice, comfortable bikes. Very new models too. Brano did a great job on this bike tour. We had so much fun, and learned so much too. I could go on and on. Our 4+hrs went very fast. Brano was once again a wonderful tour guide. I can almost guarantee that we will be back for a 3rd tour with Authentic Slovakia.
- gurushabdk202200Must do tour in Bratislava. Recommend day trip from Vienna just for this.My husband and I went on this tour. Brano took us on a 4 hour bike tour with multiple stops. Very knowledgeable and fun to hang out with! Biking in Bratislava is really nice and beautiful biking along the Danube. Brano brings that personal experience we look for when we visit other countries. We hope he visits us in The USA and we can show him around on a bike. A highlight of our two week long trip!
- maxmaxc00Excellent GuideMichal, a guide with Authentic Slovakia, took us on an excellent tour around Bratislava - he was very knowledgeable and made the history of his country both fascinating and entertaining. I would highly recommend him. Also, in the run-up to our trip, Authentic Slovakia was very responsive in getting back to us quickly and coming up with recommendations beyond the tour eg for restaurants, etc.

Brilliant tour ! Brano is a great guide very knowledgeable and well informed about history, he takes you around the city to show you different perspectives , and he shares his own personal and family experiences which adds another taste to the trip. I really recommend you to take this tour if you like history and learning about the city back in the time and how it developed . Absolutely loved it

Juro was an informative and friendly guide who was very happy to share his knowledge of his home city with us. The personal aspect that he gave to this history tour was fascinating and made it all the more interesting, hearing about the contrasting experiences of his own and his parents upbringing and lives in Bratislava. Travelling in a 30 year old Skoda really added to the whole experience - it's a long time since I have actually had to wind a window down for the aircon. It seemed that Juro was uttering a silent prayer for it to start every time he turned the key!
A fascinating tour and we felt good value for money. Definitely recommended.

This tour is brilliant for anyone looking to learn about the city’s recent history. Peter is a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and friendly, and takes time to answer any questions you have. Being driven round Bratislava in a classic Škoda is a unique experience, and one I would recommend to anyone!

The tour was great! My girlfriend and I chose to opt to experience the old Škoda car experience. We ended with another person which was good as It was a nice dynamic. The tour itself was really good. Peter the guide was very knowledgeable of both the communist era history and general knowledge of the area (he grew up here). My favourite part of the tour was hearing the personal stories of himself and his family as well as giving as some goodies to try which have a nice context to general life in Bratislava. Peter made us feel comfortable, was funny and a fantastic tour guide all round. Communication was great. The tour was slightly over schedule but it was ideal as we got to see and learn more (which he was happy to show us more). If you are looking for a nice whistle stop tour of Bratislava, this is the one. A final point on the car, go for the old classic car over the modern car, it adds a funny/interesting dynamic to the whole tour. I initially thought the tour was a tad expensive but now doing the tour, it was definitely worth it, if you can get 3 people doing the tour, the price works out nicely. Thank you again peter!

Went on the Post Communism Tour with the Urban Explorer add on and I have to say it was the highlight of our trip to Bratislava. Our guide Maros was superb, very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The gifts of free booze and something to eat were a nice touch. It was well worth the money and it was particularly interesting to tour an abandoned subway station and derelict maternity hospital. Maros was such a great guide that even my teenage daughters really enjoyed the experience. I would urge anyone looking to try something a bit different when in Bratislava to book with this company. You won't be disappointed.

We had a memorable introduction to Bratislava thanks to our guide Peter. He was well informed and genuinely interested and passionate in answering our questions. The tour covered everything we had wanted to see and it was great to hear about his past experiences and recollections. It was the icing on the cake.

Our tour guides gave us a tour on an old Skoda and van with stops around the city, and were informative & entertaining throughout. Their personal recollections of the era were particularly insightful and enabled us to see a different side to the city that we probably would not have otherwise come across. A thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bratislava

Luckily, I made a friend at the hostel who joined me, I highly recommend splitting the cost because it is WELL WORTH the price and sharing the experience.
Peter was a great and knowledgeable guide who has first hand experience with the transitionary period into Liberalism.
We had a fun time joking as Americans who have learned very little about the contemporary state of Czechoslovakia and the Soviet era, and got to explore Bratislava in a fresh, new lens.
Highly recommend to ask for Peter: great guy, lots of fun.

An excellent and really interesting tour of Bratislava. Our tour guide, Brano, was incredibly knowledgeable, hospitable and interesting. My partner and I learned a great deal from him about this part of the world. Would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a tour that will give you a different perspective of the city

My family and I had a wonderful time with Peter, who was a very engaging, patient, and kind tour guide. He was an excellent storyteller, and even though the topics seemed like they could be heavy, Peter made the time pass by really quickly. He shared both personal perspectives as well as historical facts. He answered our questions well, which I am sure was more challenging because we had a mixture of people who knew nothing about local history (non-Europeans), and then a more local perspective (Austrian). If you ever go to Bratislava, this tour alone makes it worth it!

What time do the tours leave (morning and afternoon) and what time do they get back? That info should be upfront in the Overview or What to Expect Section. Or am I just overlooking it?
