The offbeat excursion brings the architecture, history, living conditions of the iconic era to life in a way that most tours can't. To truly immerse yourself in the Communist era, your guide takes you each site in a 1970s Czechoslovak car or a retro Skoda 1203 van.

Juro was an informative and friendly guide who was very happy to share his knowledge of his home city with us. The personal aspect that he gave to this history tour was fascinating and made it all the more interesting, hearing about the contrasting experiences of his own and his parents upbringing and lives in Bratislava. Travelling in a 30 year old Skoda really added to the whole experience - it's a long time since I have actually had to wind a window down for the aircon. It seemed that Juro was uttering a silent prayer for it to start every time he turned the key!
A fascinating tour and we felt good value for money. Definitely recommended.

The tour was great! My girlfriend and I chose to opt to experience the old Škoda car experience. We ended with another person which was good as It was a nice dynamic. The tour itself was really good. Peter the guide was very knowledgeable of both the communist era history and general knowledge of the area (he grew up here). My favourite part of the tour was hearing the personal stories of himself and his family as well as giving as some goodies to try which have a nice context to general life in Bratislava. Peter made us feel comfortable, was funny and a fantastic tour guide all round. Communication was great. The tour was slightly over schedule but it was ideal as we got to see and learn more (which he was happy to show us more). If you are looking for a nice whistle stop tour of Bratislava, this is the one. A final point on the car, go for the old classic car over the modern car, it adds a funny/interesting dynamic to the whole tour. I initially thought the tour was a tad expensive but now doing the tour, it was definitely worth it, if you can get 3 people doing the tour, the price works out nicely. Thank you again peter!

My family and I had a wonderful time with Peter, who was a very engaging, patient, and kind tour guide. He was an excellent storyteller, and even though the topics seemed like they could be heavy, Peter made the time pass by really quickly. He shared both personal perspectives as well as historical facts. He answered our questions well, which I am sure was more challenging because we had a mixture of people who knew nothing about local history (non-Europeans), and then a more local perspective (Austrian). If you ever go to Bratislava, this tour alone makes it worth it!

Peter was informative, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. He adapted to the extreme heat that was happening at that time and even ended it at a place convenient to us (others in other countries have dropped us in the middle of nowhere).

It was a great introduction to the history of the city and good if you have limited time to explore.

It’s fair to say that if you are looking for a tour of places and churches this maybe not the tour for you …. However what it does offer is a unique insight into Bratislavas communist past and the modern day city. Peter our tour guide not only shared the history of Communist Bratislava but also that of his family living within the city during this time . We were shown the sights and sounds and even a taste of Bratislava. Thank you Peter for a memorable tour .. We loved it.

The five star rating is absolutely deserved here. We took a tour with Maros who was incredibly knowledgeable, open to all of our questions, and very generous with his time. He was very willing to take more time to continue our conversations and we ended up going beyond the 2 hrs planned. If you're very interested in history, would recommend giving yourself extra time as well.

We have done this tour as 7 friends during our trip to Bratislava. We were picked up right on time by Peter in a nice old car. Peter was super friendly and presented a lot of history about the city, mixed with personal anecdotes and current happenings. It was a really fantastic experience and a must have to understand this city, we would have listened the whole day. Peter has also some tips what to visit for your stay, I can recommend everyone to book this tour. :)

The tour covered everything we had wanted to see and it was great to hear about his past experiences and recollections. It was the icing on the cake.

A great way to start our visit to Bratislava. Peter was enteraining and knowledgeable, and the tour was a great combination of seeing the main areas of interest in Bratislava, and learning the history of Slovakia.

While being driven round the city was a great way to get our bearings on first arriving, Peter was so engaging, I'd have happily just sat in a café with him and listen to him speak so passionately about his city and country.

I would recommend any visitor to Bratislava to start with this tour.

Our tour guides gave us a tour on an old Skoda and van with stops around the city, and were informative & entertaining throughout. Their personal recollections of the era were particularly insightful and enabled us to see a different side to the city that we probably would not have otherwise come across. A thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bratislava
