What to expect
Book your time slot and after pickup at your central Budapest hotel, make the journey into the Etyek-Buda wine region by air-conditioned minivan.
Admire the rolling vineyards as your guide tells of Etyek’s white wines, commonly grown from sauvignon-blanc and pinot-gris grapes. Stop at two or three (depending on departure selected) family-run wineries, and sample four wines at each, alongside Hungarian snacks, and including a tasting of a local Törley sparkling wine. As you sip, learn the secrets behind each varietal from the winery owner and winemaker.
In between the wineries, see Old Wine Hill, a beautiful hillside dotted with disused wine cellars, while learning about the local soils.

Your Etyek wine country tour concludes with a drop-off at your Budapest hotel.

I wish I could rate this even higher. This trip gave us a great trip into the country, only a 30 min drive away, but into a small village outside the big city. The hills and valleys are very picturesque and meeting the winemakers at each stop was a huge plus. Szilard, the wine maker at Nadas was a wonderful host, sharing not just about the wine but a little history of the wine industry and this growing region. His wines were high quality and we bought as much as we could reasonably carry/drink on our trip. Our second stop at Buzal-morocza included lunch at a picturesque spot at the top of the lane. The courtyard is picture perfect and the wine along with the some local dishes was really good. Peter was a fabulous guide, he helped us understand the wines but also the local culture and some of Hungaries history. All in all our most highly recommended tour!

A fantastic afternoon with Tamas our guide to three independent producers who create wine for the local market only. Very different from other visits I've experienced. The third stop included a wonderful home cooked dinner along with the wine! We tasted excellent wine at all three venues. Highly Recommend this tour.

Fabulous 1/2 tour with Peter. This tour provided a personal view of wine making in Hungary and Peter himself was involved in the industry for many years before becoming a tour guide with City Wine. This team was accommodating to pickup location and time. This is a must tour just outside of Budapest in the country side.

This was truly amazing! The vineyards we went to were so accommodating, and the wine was spectacular. I particularly loved the homemade lunch that was provided at the second vineyard! It gave us a special taste of Hungarian lifestyle. Our tour guide, Susan, was the highlight of the trip though. It was me and two other friends, and she did an incredible job explaining the history of the vineyards and the wine region, and Budapest in general. If you can request her, do it! She is absolutely wonderful and I feel so lucky to have had her on our tour!

A absolutely wonderful afternoon touring 3 beautiful and unique vineyards in Etyek last week. We were picked up by Michael at our hotel along with the rest of the group and after a half hour ride, arrived at the first vineyard. We tasted a wide range of really delicious wines, learned some of the history behind the wines and vineyards too. Happily there was lots of bread/snacks to soak up all of the wine! All of the vineyward owners were really welcoming and passionate about their products and processes and Michael was a really knowledgeable, funny and friendly guide.
We ended with a really delicious al fresco meal at the third and final vineyard, the perfect end to a lovely afternoon in the Hungarian countryside. We came home with a good few bottles of wine from the tour, all of which were really reasonable and truly delicious. Who knew Hungary was such a hotspot for amazing wine?
We were dropped back at our hotel, paper bags bursting with lovely bottles and thrilled with the tour. We'd absolutely do this again on our next trip to Budapest, cannot recommend it enough.

We had a wonderful day meeting 2 of the wine makers and a wonderful cook from this charming little village. They were hospitable, kind, funny, and very informed in the wines they are offering. These hosts farm the land, make the wine, bottle and label these wines too. Their wine is a labor of love that comes through in the quality of the wines they present. They specialize in some delightful and refreshing white wines and some rose’s too. The settings of the tastings were in a press house and in a wine cellar built into the hillside. We ended the evening in the home of a local who made a delicious dinner. It was a really a great experience that I highly recommend.

We visited 3 family run vineyards with a lovely dinner on the third. All the wine was really good. Our tour guide was very friendly and very informative about everything from wines to all Hungarian life , history etc. We had a great group with us so that definitely makes the experience all the better. I would reccomend this tour to anyone that likes wine and is interested in its production, and seeing more of Hungary other than the city.

We met outside a centrally located motel and drove to three small wineries...family run, 10,000 bottle enterprises. We got a great overview and talk at each one, and FOUR "tastes". These tastes were like San Fran pours....3 or 4 ounces!!! Glad we had a driver. Our group of about 15 all got along and we had lots of fun and laughs, plus we learned a lot and bought great bottles of wine for less than $10!! Our checked bags coming back were quite heavy. Great tour! Oh..and the meal was a wonderful, family style dinner. We would do it again for sure.

Excellent time seeing Budapest countryside in Etyek-Buda region and tasting high quality locally
grown and produced sparkling, white and red wines, accompanied by local bread, cheese and sausage. Dinner in one of the wineries was great with local Hungarian food and desert options. Narration by Peter to/from hotel pick-up and wineries was informative overall and helpful in understanding local wines. He is very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Good day!
We are a group of 14 people, 7 couples who are going to visit Budapest in July. We are very excited to come to you for a wine tasting on July 10 in the 3pm Afternoon Tour with Dinner.
Is it possible to book the whole group?
Best regards Guðrún Lilja
Me and my husband are visiting Budapest in coming weeks, and we have a 3 year old kid. We would like to take this tour but not sure if there be food and drinks for kids? Can you please tell me if this is not recommended for us.

It seems like each stop we encountered there was some limited gluten free options. However, my suggestion would be to carry your own. There are many places to pick up some good snacks (for cheap) in town. Hey..the wine was wonderful!!
