About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Tourist2829160 contributionsHighly recommendVery well organised tour Macieja contacted us the day before the tour with pick up time and asked if we wanted them to provide lunch for an extra fee. Lunch was great. So much food. Macieja was on time to pick us up and was very friendly We booked the tour for a max of 15 people. I would highly recommend booking this tour with Krakow Auschwitz Tours. Very emotional day and the tour organisation was fantastic.Written 9 September 2024
- Wanderer5754530 contributionsHighly recommend private tour!Paul was great and very prompt! He gave us clear instructions and also took us to see the real center of Europe in-between the camps. Everything was very well organized and easy to communicate with the driver. Highly recommend booking a private tour!Written 6 September 2024
- rexb8390 contributionsNot what we expected! What should have been a moving and emotional experience, was ruined by the reality. Interminable queues for every part of the tour which meant any ambience was completely lost. Our advice is to go independently, youv'e a better chance of feeling the reality of the horrendous situation. If it hadn't been so oversubscribed, maybe it would have been better. Maybe commercial interests prevail?Written 1 September 2024
- VERMARZ0 contributionsIf in Poland, especially Krakow, visit Auschwitz. You will not be disappointed.Excellent for historical and educational purposes. All the movies and documentaries you might have seen of Auschwitz and the holocaust over the years comes alive in a very strange way but gives you a sense of appreciation and acknowledgement of what surely is one of the darkest and deadliest chapters of Human history. Fully worth a visit in that respect. The English speaking guide was very knowledgeable and very clear. It easily will remain an unforgettable excursion with mixed emotions, one of sadness and also one of homage paid by your visit to those who perished. Robert, who did the transport to and from Hotel was very friendly and could communicate in English very well.Written 27 August 2024
- Q4810EAstuartk0 contributionsExcellent tour and transportationIt was a great service, picked up from our hotel at the time informed the day before. Great run down to the camp in an air conditioned car (mid 30s so very much appreciated). Our driver arranged our lunches, we had a 10 min break before going into the first camp, then all booked in with a tour guide, didn't have to que. The tour was very good, lasted 1hour 30, then we collected our lunch as we came out. Driver took us over to the next camp, same guide was already there to greet us. We had another great tour. Driver then waiting to take us back to the Hotel. Excellent service, highly recommend.Written 21 August 2024
- G7106ZBlesleys0 contributionsVery real and emotional tripVery organised and very happy from start to finish. Our pick up driver was very helpful and sorted a walker and wheelchair for my mum as soon as we arrived at both sites. Also contacted us to organize packed lunches which was delicious. Would highly recommend. Our tour guide was brilliant.Written 15 August 2024
- edpA8443SC0 contributionsMust do tour. This is somewhere that anyone visiting krakow should go. It was a moving and sombre experience but we are glad we visiting and learnt more about this place. Our driver Paweł was very good and he was with us at all points throughout the day. He helped us before, during and after our tour. He was in contact about our pick up and arrived at our accommodation as he said he would be on time. We are all so pleased we booked this tour, it took all of the hassle out of having to do the hard work ourselves. Thank you.Written 14 August 2024
- CT2110700 contributionsAn excellent tour to such a solemn place.Would hugely recommend this tour. Our driver, Lucas the Cracovia fan, was excellent, as was the tour guide at Auschwitz. Everything was organised to almost military level, and we’d definitely advise getting the packed lunch. It’s £10 and you get loads for that. So thanks Lucas and good luck to Cracovia from the two Aston Villa fans!Written 13 August 2024
- ashh9930 contributionsBrilliant, informative tour. Our tour guides Camilla and Barbara were wonderful. Theor knowledge was extensive and they answered plenty of questions. The tour is extensive but some parts were missed due to parts being under conservation, but it didn't hinder the tour at all. Very much recommended, visiting here should be on the school curriculum everywhere at least once. Thankyou Camilla and Barbara!Written 4 August 2024
- 480darrenm0 contributionsExcellent transport and guide.Transport was excellent and very informative guide. Sobering place and well organised. My only critique is that it was quite quick paced. If I go back, I’d opt for the longer tour to be able to absorb more.Written 27 July 2024
- odiliaowens0 contributionsA well run and hassle free trip. This is really an excellent tour. As promised, we were contacted by our guide Igor the day before our visit to arrange a pick up time and with an offer of providing lunch the following day. I'd recommend that you would avail of this offer. There's nowhere at Auschwitz or Birkenau to get refreshments so it was great to finish our first tour and be handed our lovely fresh lunch. Igor picked us up at our hotel at about 7.30am and we were back at about 2.30. He stayed with us until we got through security in Auschwitz and was waiting on us with our lunches at the end of the tour. You only get about 15mins to eat and get back on the bus before heading off to Birkenau. Inside Auschwitz we had a very knowledgeable guide called Michal. Considering the volume of people there, the tour runs very well and there's little queuing. This tour is a must if you're in Krakow and I've nothing but good things to say about both Igor and Michal, our two guides.Written 23 July 2024

- 202jennp0 contributionsA humble yet harrowing tourAbsolutely brilliant. Such a well informed and humble Auschwitz tour guide for a harrowing experience. Our driver was punctual, polite and helpful with great communication. The mine was excellent too but I will say that perhaps the 2 together in one day is a bit too much. We were exhausted and drained physically and emotionally. That’s the only negative though. It feels wrong to say a fabulous experience given the nature of it but you know what I mean. Well worth itWritten 7 July 2024

Auschwitz-Birkenau is an amazing experience and the place is thoroughly worth the visit. However as someone who is a real history buff I was really dissatisfied with the tour element which at best is very rushed. The guides are instructed to essentially get around as quickly as they can due to the high volume of visitors and limited spaces. The tour had around 45 people within it and it often resulted in being far behind the guide. This also meant being out of range of the guides microphone. In the end we walked away from our group and did Birkenau at our own pace taking the time to read the signs and information.
I can honestly say we learnt more from the documentary that is played to you on the journey to Auschwitz than we did from the guide. If you want to respect the place and learn I recommend visiting without a guide.
The tours driver was polite and friendly and the vehicles used were smart and sufficient for the journey. They offer a packed lunch which consists of a ham and cheese sandwich, banana, apple, chocolate wafer and bottle of water. This cost an additional 20 zloty which is fair value.
Overall it depends on the type of visitor you are... some will benefit from visiting in quieter periods and the experience may be improved from the tour point of view. Personally we would have preferred to take the time to appreciate the location opposed to rushing it. Sadly the driver had said our feedback they are hearing more frequently. He added that it is increasingly busy and with the 75th anniversary of the camps liberation at the end of January, visitor numbers for the year are expected to hit 2.5 million.
Its appears to have become a commercial opportunity as opposed to a memorial/museum.
Visit without the guided tour - save money and enjoy the experience greater alone.

Dear Greg,
This review should be posted on auschwitz museum profile (panstwowe muzeum auschwitz birkenau oswiecim) as they provide the service inside the camps. We provide only transportation for you.
Thank you very much for your feedback, but Please understand that we do not have any influence on guides inside the camps. On the day your group has 25 people. It was not 45 people, it is not possible because Maximum for one guide is 30 people. Everyday we have different guide provide by muzeum. Auschwitz Birkenau Musuem is a state owned institution, and in fact due to millions of tourists each year visiting the camps, they have sometimes problems with proper organization. We send your complains there, but no answer usually. I am really sorry for that, but that is the problem of over-visited places sometimes. We would love to change it somehow but it is out of our control. Also please note, that all the tour companies providing 'tours' to Auschwitz have exactly the same problem. Regards Thomas

The driver turned up on time to pick us up, was very polite and went out of his way to educate us on the history of his city which he was clearly very proud and passionate about. The drive is quite long from the city too the camp and our driver was pleasant and chatty throughout the out and return journey, made us feel comfortable and we learned a lot from him before we had even had the tour!
The actual tour I found very harrowing for obvious reasons however it is something I personally have always wanted to do and after I feel I can safely say it is absolutely worth doing to understand the true scale of the atrocities that took place in the camps. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and unlike some of the other reviews I’ve read, we didn’t once feel as though we were rushed.
I would absolutely recommend using this agency just for the sheer convenience of being picked up, taken and then dropped off as like I said before the camps are a lengthy distance from the city of Krakow.
Thank you again for the day and to our driver for being a brilliant host, was a pleasure!

A sad place, but puts life in to prospective. Our driver was really friendly and picked us up on time, offered us packed lunch (assume at a cost) we declined as there is a hot food cafe an snack shop at Auschwitz.
You need ID to enter.
The first part of Auschwitz you all get headphones so you can clearly hear the guide and stops everyone talking over the tour, such a good idea and means if your a bit behind you can hear the tour still.
Is a full day out and it can be draining with what you hear and see but the tour is really interesting and you see both camps.
Driver dropped us back at hotel but offered to drop us in the square if we wanted

My husband and I went on this trip today. The mini bus picked us up from our hotel and took us to Auschwitz, where we joined up with others to form a tour group of about 28 in total. Our tour guide Gabriella, was a delightful, knowledgeable young lady and she patiently and sympathetically guided us around retelling the horrors of the place. It was an exceptionally busy day apparently, so there was some waiting around in order to enter buildings etc. I did feel under time pressure in order to make it back to the bus at a certain time to then drive to Birkenau. Our bus driver was particularly unpleasant, unpersonable and at times, plain rude, for that reason I give 2 stars and advise people to use another tour company!!!!!! On our way back, after the second harrowing stage of the tour at Birkenau, he barely spoke one word, although he managed many conversations on his mobile whilst driving on the return to Kraków!!
I am so pleased to have been given the opportunity to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau and highly recommend it. I think we all should witness a snippet of the horrors that so many millions endured in life and death and remember that we must prevent such horrors occurring in the future.

The tour driver transported us directly from outside our accommodation and back again; plus the short transfer between the two camps of Auschwitz 1 and Birkenau.
The actual guided tour of both camps was provided by a separate official guide as part of an official tour. Both the driver and the official guide were excellent, and we would recommend this particular tour for both its professionalism and its stress free aspect.
However, I would add that you have little free time to peruse, and there is just too much to see at both sites in a tour of just(!) 3.5 hours …but that’s just my personal take.

Service was really good. Picked up on time from our hotel by a friendly and knowledgeable driver, Jakob. He spent some time telling us about the trip and then played a video during the journey about the camps - which was quite graphic.
On our arrival, we had ten minutes to use the facilities and have a snack. It was also possible to arrange a packed lunch at this time for the mid point of the tour. We were then led into the site and met with our guide for the day. She was very knowledgeable and able to convey the information effectively. After tour of the first camp we met up with our driver and were taken to Birkenau for the second part of the tour.
Once the tour finished we were driven back to Kraków and dropped off at our hotel.
It was quite a long day with lots of walking on uneven ground and up / down stairs which may prove difficult for those with mobility issues. It was emotionally draining to see the camps and hear of the atrocities committed there. However, it was an important trip and I would recommend this so that horrific events like this are not forgotten.

We were picked up from directly outside our apartment for the 1hr20 mini bus ride and were offered a packed lunch.
Auschwitz itself is obviously very moving and emotional. The tour guide was very knowledgable and spoke perfect English. The site was very busy with groups but the tour guides time entry into each building well and keep stuff moving.
Birkenau is currently having building work done on the main frontage which is a bit disappointing for photos of the rail track.
All in all, very well organised and good to see how well the sites have been protected and preserved. Everyone should visit here for some life lessons in how to be kind to each other.

Brilliant trip. Everything we expected it to be.
Tour guide was fantastic.
Bus was late picking up as two people got on at our hotel thinking it was their trip but it wasn't. After 10 mins waiting I called the tour provider and the bus was back to pick us up 5mins later, so that was sorted promptly and easily.
As we collected the last passengers there were too many people on board. Another couple had gotten on the bus at another hotel thinking it was their trip but it wasn't. May need to look at how tickets are checked or names of people expecting to be on the coach.
Bus was lovely and modern, comfy and clean. Driver, Matthew, was lovely too.
A film was played on the journey.
The camp was very busy, hundreds of visitors all at the same time which was a little tricky at times, we didn't get a chance to look at some parts properly as we had been moved along to the next part and if you didn't keep up you lost the group and were merging with the tour behind you. May be worth looking in to the really early morning tours or smaller group tours.
A lot of walking and some dodgy footings on stairs and ground at times so keep that in mind.
Incredible experience however and would recommend this tour provider.

This tour was not at all expensive for what you got. The drivers came on time to our hotel to pick us up and was constantly near us though out the day to make sure we were ok. We did however take a detour in one of the blocks whilst on tour and lose our tour guide for 10 minutes, our tour day was so busy as this was 1 day after the 75th anniversary, there was so people there including survivors, I wish it was quiet as it did feel a bit rushed for us. When we asked for help when lost all the staff were not English and couldn’t help us so we just followed the signal on our head set and finally found her SO Stick close to your group. You have 1 short 10 mins break to get food after your first tour so, try to fill up on food before you go as it’s not that easy to get food when your rushing, our day was busy so this may not be as bad for any one else. Above all very powerful and moving, certainly puts things into prospective, these poor family’s went through absolute hell not to mention torture & we do not know the half of it. Enjoy debs x

How long is the tour of Auschwitz itself? Is it the 3.5 hour long tour and the other time is for transfer? Or is it a 7 hour long tour?

I’ve booked this trip for next Wednesday (first time).
We’ve not heard anything about where we’re meeting /what time.
When will I hear?
Many thanks

Do they pick up from Metropolo by Golden Tulip or will I have to go to another place?

The best thing to do is to contact your company. They are usually very responsive. If they are not, use a different one- there's a lot of competition.

I believe you can book threw your hotel, we booked threw Trip advisor.
If your going only for a few days then do book before your trip.

Hi, I’m looking to book this tour for 3 people for the 28th Nov. Could you tell me if you can pick us up from our AirBnb on Szewska?

When you book, the tour guide will text you. You can ask to be picked up from anywhere you like. Mainly hotels but they will be helpful to your needs
