Churning rapids and towering cliffs make the Shotover River a thrilling experience by jet boat, and this high-speed tour gets you spinning, fishtailing, and skimming across the surface. Frequent departures from Queenstown means you can easily tailor a time to fit your schedule, while the included round-trip transport means you don’t need a car and ensures maximum adventure time on the Shotover River.
What to Expect
Your jet boat excursion starts at a central location in Queenstown. Meet a shuttle bus for the trip to the Shotover River. Departures are available throughout the morning and afternoon, and may be selected when booking.

It’s a quick trip from downtown Queenstown to the departure point on the Shotover River. Upon arrival, suit up for the jet boat with personal flotation devices and wet gear to keep out the splashing white water.

Hold on tight as the jet boat driver maneuvers through the Shotover River’s narrow canyon walls, squeezing past tight corners and rocky outcroppings. At the end of the trip, get the opportunity to purchase souvenir photos if desired, or simply hop on the shuttle back to Queenstown, where you'll be walking distance from many of the city’s top attractions, restaurants, and hotels.

Absolute thriller

Went on a rainy and windy day, river condition was very rough, the activity was actually on hold for a while. Got on the first jet boat as soon as they decided to re-open. It was thrilling especially when it traveled through the canyons and...More

Just Do It!

We're a couple closing in on seventy, and one of us is not adventuresome. Indeed, the only way I coaxed my wife into getting into the Jetboat was by confessing the tickets were ordered on line and PAID for already, so we couldn't let them...More

Great experience for everyone!

Had my second experience riding the Shotover Jet this week, but this time I dragged my mum into it! She was worried about getting on the boat with a twisted knee, but the staff assured us over the phone when booking that wouldn't be an...More

High speed thrills!

We came here on a recommendation from our hosts at the B&B. Glad we did! The ride is a high speed drive through a canyon, with the driver expertly missing the canyon walls by what seemed like inches and spinning the boat 360 degrees on...More

We did this one morning during our Queenstown stay - fantastic! The bus return from town was included and regular. The boat trip was so much fun - 30 mins of speed, spins and close calls with the canyon walls!

It's an easy 15-20 minute drive from Queenstown - just be sure to get there a good 30 minutes before you are due to depart. (and make sure you book online in advance, as this is a world-famous and popular attraction).

I didn’t use the bus, but it’s very close to town. No more than 1 1/2 hours I would estimate.

Going at that speed is going to be cold at anytime but well worth it. The jackets will keep you warm but a beanie or hat will need to be on really well or it will blow off. Go for it! :)
