What to Expect
Your evening begins at the Steamer Wharf in Queenstown, where you board the vintage TSS "Earnslaw" for a scenic cruise on Lake Wakatipu. Cross the lake while learning about the region and its history from your guide’s live commentary. While on the water, soak in views of the Remarkables mountain range.  Upon arrival at Walter Peak High Country Farm, settle in for a buffet feast replete with seafood and meat barbecued on an outdoor grill. Your meal includes a New Zealand cheeseboard, antipasti, desserts, and coffee and tea.  After dinner, you're treated to a sheepdog show and a sheep-shearing demonstration. Enjoy free time for a drink or two at the bar (own expense) before heading back on the steamer for the journey back to Queenstown.

After a brilliant cruise we arrived at the farm. Fairy lights lit up the homestead, and we walked up the pier to the huge dinner. Every type of food available, BBQ meats, seafood, salads and cooked vegetables. Dessert to die for. After dinner we all walked to a covered arena

A crossing on the Earnslaw is always a must do. Where else in the world can you travel on and see the workings of a hundred year old steam ship. Walter Peak station is an iconic sheep and cattle station on the other side of the lake with nostalgic old buildings maintained to

We enjoyed the views on the cruise and the fact that the TSS Earnslaw has such history made it interesting. Problem was that there was a large tour group that were loud also on the cruise. This continued during the meal. I almost wondered if this was the first food they had had

Dawneen, We are glad you found it interesting to learn about the history of the TSS Earnslaw and the farm demonstration with working sheep dogs and sheep shearing. For the gourmet BBQ dinner we call customers up to the buffet table-by-table to ensure that the different sections of the servery aren’t too crowded. In some cultures, one person is nominated by the family to collect food from the servery and the plate is put in the centre of the table for all the group. If the salad dressing issue was reported to our staff, they would have replaced the dressing container and serving spoons immediately. We apologise for the noise level of the tour group on the cruise, but hopefully you found a good place on the TSS Earnslaw to admire the views of the lake and mountains. Thank you for your review. The Real Journeys Team.
