After a short boat ride to the actual site you walk thru the different examples of geothermal features including mud pots, geisers, and pools. 2 trails, long and short wandering thru the park are well maintained and easy to moderate to navigate. Nice views from lookouts on

We visited this site as part of the Taupo Riverjet Ultimate Thermal Safari tour coordinated by NZ RiverJet. It takes about an hour to walk the site. It can be quite tiring to walk as you are going up and down stairs. It was very interesting to view the various sites.

I found this park accidentally and we decided to go there instead of another place. I didn't regret a minute. It takes a few minute boat ride to cross the lake. The trail is well maintained, going slightly up and down. The colors! Oh, those colors. The cave is magnificent.
