We have recently returned from this wonderful afternoon tour. We were on a cruise ship and arranged to be picked up at a convenient location in the middle of Auckland. We could tell straight away that the tour guide and driver were not only knowledgeable about New Zealand history, flora and fauna but they were both very passionate about it.
We stopped at a bakery for lunch and were guided up to the rainforest views which were spectacular. Then on to the rainforest walk. We were informed the entire way around the beautiful forest and learnt so much.
We then travelled to the stunning Piha beach with its beautiful soft black sand. After some free time we were greeted with a perfect cup of tea and biscuits.
We travelled through Auckland's suburbs and returned to the city in the afternoon.
We would definitely recommend this tour. It was a wonderful way to see the real New Zealand.

If you want a local tour guide, who is fun, energetic, takes pictures, takes you to the best places to eat besides showing the picturesque sites of New Zealand, Terry is your guy. We had a memorable trip with him with a hike to the waterfall, the beach and some picturesque stops along the way. Money well spent.

This tour was a good way to see the west coast from Auckland. There was a good amount of time at both the beach and the rainforest walk. The guide was both knowledgeable and friendly. He addressed my wife's back problems by giving her areas to rest while allowing others to enjoy areas she couldn't get to.

Awesome Tour. Stunning scenic drive & Terry's witty informative commentary made it a 10 out of 10 memorable day.
The highlights for me were:
***The bush walk to beautiful Cathedral Cove, where I sat on the beach and ate delicious Orange Roughy fish I'd bought at the smokehouse in Coromandel.
***Hot Water Beach, where we dug a hole & bathed in the hot thermal water bubbling up through the sand.
***The small train that took us on a ride up through native bush.
***The crumbed John Dory fish I had for dinner in Tairua that's caught daily.
Also recommend the Smoked Roe from the Smokehouse, & the Pohutukawa Smoked Bacon from the butcher in Coromandel I brought home with me.
Many Thanks to Terry for such a great day.

Easily one of my best tour experiences! Its not often you come across a tour guide who loves what he does and does what he does best. I made a last minute booking and i was fortunate enough to have a private tour by Terry, the man, himself. Terry covered wayyyy more than what was stated in the brochure. I'm not even gonna talk about the pristine beaches and breath taking scenic rainforest views from up high because most reviews in here already have. Terry threw in a quick city tour simply because it was my last day in Auckland before flying back. Thanks so much Terry. All i had to do was pass him my camera and he took amazing shots with it. Terry recommends awesome stuff namely the golden kiwi, hokey pokey ice cream, wasp beer (i got my healthy makuna dose), etc. By the way, he's got the best office in the world. You might want to check that one out. That one's not stated in the brochure as well.

It was when i was on Phia beach,(terry guided me to the best scenic point to see the waves), when i realised that this was one of the best moments of my life. If it weren't for Terry's endless knowledge about the area, what to see and best sights, i would of missed out. Im forever grateful for him showing me the sights i wanted to see from such a young age. The trekking round the rainforest was just amazing. Absolutely amazing. Its only after a few days, i could really reflect on what an amazing time i had in New Zealand and thanks to Terry, this contributed highly.
Every question i asked him, he answered and more! I wanted to tip him but i had no notes :( however, i will be recommending this tour for life.
I thank you,
Paul Miller

As with their mission, our group was small with only my wife, myself and another tourist. We took the full day Auckland tour and our guide, Terry, was wonderful in sharing the many aspects of Auckland and the nearby Waitakere Region. With some added humor he made us feel like guests rather than just tourists. The highlight of the trip was the trek up to the edge of the waterfall. Piha beach (though cloudy) was also beautiful in it's rocky grandeur. What started off as a gloomy rainy day ended with a whole bunch of smiles. Thanks again for the wonderful time Terry!

I arranged a private tour with Absolute Tours out of Auckland for 4 adult couples to visit Hamilton Gardens, Gloworm Caves and the Bush Walk . It was a great day lasting about 9 1/2 hours. While it may seem long, the 3 stops and the scenery along the way coupled with the commentary from our driver/guide Terry Buckley ( who is also the owner of the company) made for a fantastic day . Terry is an extremely personable and knowledgeable guy . More importantly these tours are his passion not just his job . You can tell how much he enjoys showing off Auckland, the city he was raised in, and his country of New Zealand. We were quite happy to have had Terry as our guide, but as you will note from other reviews, his other guides are also very good. Our tour was customized and you can create you own as well for a private group. But there are several group tours offered by Absolute Tours that you can join in on no matter how many people you may have which are all highly rated. In addition, Absolute Tours are extremely competitively priced versus similar tours. If you are looking for a good tour while in Auckland, contact Absolute Tours . You can’t go wrong with any of them and you can thank me later .

Terry was excellent. He gave a great tour and was knowledgeable about the flora. This was a bonus. Since New Zealand is so verdant is was great that he could explain about the plants. The drive to Piha was made that more enjoyable because of this knowledge We would not hesitate to recommend the tour.
