Our comfortable bus collects from a convenient Adelaide CBD location in the morning (the Stamford Plaza Hotel), then once in the region we follow a recurring timetable circuit that takes 50-60 minutes to complete, in which time we visit all 10-15 of the selected venues. We follow this same timetable each and every hour until it’s time to return to the city in the late afternoon (approx 5pm).

Amazing knowledge from our tour guide Monique. The hop in hop off experience is so easy due to timetabling. No improvement necessary!

Travelling from Adelaide to the Barossa Valley can be expensive but I was fortunate to discover Trail Hopper tours. If you're an NRMA member you can also get a discount. The tours are an excellent way to visit different wine regions outside of Adelaide with the bus picking you up in Adelaide and then runs on a loop once in the region, in this case the Barossa, visiting different stops. Nathan was our bus driver and quasi tour guide, a very friendly and welcoming person who gave us plenty of info along the way, tips, and suggestions. Thanks so much for looking after us, you were awesome!

There's a timetable to follow so you can plan to spend 4 x 1hr visits at different wineries, or go rogue as I did and catch a taxi to different places not visited on the tour. Being a foodie I visited the Barossa Valley Chocolate Factory, Maggie Beer's Farm House and Eatery, Tanunda and Nurioopta town centers, Steiny's Mettwurst before joining back on the bus for the return trip to Adelaide.

Comfortable air-conditioned bus, water is provided, certainly recommended and you don't need to worry about being a designated driver as it's all taken care of. You can also buy wine along the way and store it on the bus for safe keeping as some people did. Multiple tours booked with the company can also earn discounts like the coffee stamp concept.

What a fantastic way to spend a day. We joined the bus from Tanunda. Big thumbs up to Nathan our driver who shared so much knowledge and kept the drive fun and interesting. Love how we could choose where to go and for how long. Totally recommend doing this and can’t wait to do it again!!!!

I had an amazing great first experience doing the hop on-hop off tour in the Barossa. Amazing landscape, amazing stories behind them. Our tour guide Nathan aka #Natedogg #Marshall was knowledgeable, informative and a fun person overall. He also helped break the ice between us tour participants.
My only complaint is that is he didn't inform us sooner that we could sing karaoke style in his bus....(with good reason I guess 🤣)
Thankyou Nathan. Thankyou Trail Hopper Tours. See you on the next trip.

Loved this tour. We had 12 wineries to choose from. We also visited one that was not on the list but one we were really interested to see. Nathan our driver was very knowledgeable and very personable. We visited Rockford, St Hallets, Saltram and Penfolds Providence. Highly recommend each of these wineries. We had lunch at Saltram and had the $39 share menu which included a pizza, salad, chips (could not eat it all) and a dessert. It also included two tastings of wine and from the two tastings you chose which one to have with your meal. This tour is so reasonably priced and it includes pick up from Adelaide and return.

What a great day out in the Barossa. Nathan is much more than a driver. I won’t let out any secrets. Incredible knowledge of the industry and the region. Pick ups timed to the minute.

What a fabulous day. We’re a group of 5 family members & were in Adelaide for a mini break & needing to get to and from the Barossa Valley. So lucky we found Trailhoppers! We started at 9.30am with a pickup in the city. Nat was our bus driver & he was also a fantastic tourist guide dishing out heaps of local info along the way to the Barossa Valley. Cherie in the Trailhoppers office helped with suggestions on how to get the most out of the day & from that we decided to start off at Lamberts Estate for 2hrs. We pre-booked an hours wine tasting experience (free!) followed with an hours lunch. This was a decadent way of spending 2hrs - we had a table tight near a roaring log fire, the wine & food were superb & our hosts full of cheer & goodwill. Needless to say, purchased many bottles of wine from Lamberts Estsre! We then went to Penfolds for an hour for a prebooked wine making experience. Loved it & we even got to take home the wine we made (& drink what we didn’t take! 😂)Alana was our host & she was great fun & so gracious in ensuring we got through the experience in time to get the next bus for our last stop - Maggie Beer’s Farm shop. This was busy - as you would expect - but the staff were veterans of such demand & we got through quickly. The cappuccino I ordered was the best I’ve ever had & the ice cream was so yummy. It was a thrill to see the kitchen from The Cook and The Chef - it’s so pretty & quaint. We then did a 20 minute Gin tasting experience (only $10pp) with Jake as our host. A man who clearly knows his fine liquor and enjoys passing on the knowledge. We then went back to Adelaide arriving around 5.30pm. The day was long, but it went so quickly! The Trailhoppers bus was always on time picking us up & getting us to our next stop & were ‘Covid safe’ in their practice. This was a great & fun way to get to & from the Barossa Valley from Adelaide. It is not a booze bus but it is full of good cheer & with an aim to get the most out of your day. We had a wonderful time! Thanks Trailhoppers and a special thanks to Nat & Cherie!

Enjoyed the whole day. Was good being able to choose which winery you wanted to visit. Service was awesome and our driver Bronnie was very knowledgeable, not just about the wineries and the region but about Adelaide in general. Gave some great tips about pubs and restaurants and the go to and not go to areas. Overall fab day out and would recommend.

A great way to do a wine tour in a flexible and economical way. For only $80 we could see up to 4 wineries and we could pick from a large list along with the ability to stay longer.

Bus comes around each hour and is spot on time.

I would suggest staying longer at Yalumba as 1 hour was not long enough to see the most magnificent grounds. Especially in autumn.

Bronny our bus operator was great value and knowledgeable.

I would highly recommend this option and I am keen to try the other regions with Trail Hopper. Thanks!
