Meet a driver at your hotel or at a central location for the trip to a freshwater lagoon in a local community. Suit up with snorkeling gear, then climb inside a secure cage to watch for the Mexican crocodiles that thrive in the lagoon, growing to almost 10 feet (3 meters) in length—this is a great time for unforgettable photos.
After your time in the lagoon, continue into the community to visit the local elementary school. While in the village, you’ll also learn about the traditional cultivation of Meliponas bees, a stingless honey bee that’s been raised in the Yucatan peninsula since ancient times.
Following your time at the Maya village, begin the return trip to the coast, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your original departure point.
