- Mobile3770314771400Memorable Hike in HowthMy hiking trip in Howth, Ireland, was made exceptional thanks to my guide, Dee. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and shared fascinating stories about Howth as we hiked to the summit. Dee also provided useful tips beforehand, which helped me prepare for the hike. I usually don't pay for guided experiences, but this experience was an exception. It's a great choice for solo travelers who want to avoid the typical tourist trails and seek a more unique adventure. I wholeheartedly recommend to those looking for an authentic, companionable exploration of Howth's natural beauty.
- Worldforward00Fabulous!This is an absolutely fabulous hike. Not to be missed. We had a little rain, after all it’s Ireland, and it just added to the thrilling views of the landscape. I highly recommend it!
- JohnsonMartin00Amazing, informative and great fun.Amazing. Such good fun and so informative. Conor was a fantastic host full of fascinating stories and tales about the area. Lots of fascinating history combined with intriguing gossip about local celebs and politicians who live in the area. Bikes were great and really relaxing and he took us to some amazing views, including a rainbow (though I'm not sure he arranged that!!) Relaxed and really personalised. Thank you!!
- Trail4509397140200Out of this world! We had an amazing tour of Howth with Connor on the e-bikes. They are a fantastic way to get around the peninsula and see all the beautiful views. Connor was a fount of information and kept us well entertained the whole time. This was the highlight of our Dublin trip - I really can’t recommend it enough. It is so easy to get to on the Dart and the bikes themselves are easy to get the hang of. Connor took loads of photos which he sent to us soon after so you have a great memento of the day.
- 722JaneP00Don't delay. Book now. You will not be disappointed !This was the highlight of our weeklong trip to the Dublin area. None of us in my party had been on ebikes. The bike company provided two guides to ensure our 6 person safety. Great route, most of it along the coast with outstanding views of the craggy cliff coastline. The owner Connor knew many off- the- tourist- path- parts of Howth. Connor kept us intrigued with history of Ireland and stories of Howth. All in all a delightful experience.
- Culture56667600A lovely day away by myself from Dublin.Brilliant tour of the coastal area. Short and sweet with lots of information about the town…will recommend this tour.
- Somool00Great walk, great guide, great views!Howth is a bit touristy, however walking with Howth Adventures got us off the beaten track. With an amazing view around every corner, I would highly recommand the four hour walking tour!
- jesterg4200One of the highlights of our Dublin visit. The experience was amazing. I had a couple of crashes and Nicky was professional and caring. Nicky’s knowledge of the area made the history of Howth come alive. 5/5 would do it again - without the crashes though 😀
- elwoodh100Favorite activity during Dublin stayThe meeting point is an easy and pleasant train ride from Heuston Station. We were met by our amazing guide, Karen. Her enthusiasm for her job and Howth was infectious. She started our tour by thoroughly explaining the equipment and the route we would be taking. Throughout the tour we saw the most beautiful countryside and the bay on a sunny and warm day! Karen also took souvenir pictures of our group during and after the tour. After the tour, we had a meal of the best mussels I have ever had! This activity was a wonderful experience that we highly recommend!
- J3238YGsamd00Best experience!Had a fantastic hike with Dee! Very nice lady with the necessary knowledge. Because of cab problems arrived almost half an hour later than the tour started, quite difficult you would think to pick up but that was beyond Aylien. She picked me up at the meeting point and took me to the group. Shortly thereafter also met the pleasant Shane. All in all an unlikely recommendation for anyone who loves nature and hiking. Price-quality more than good! Thanks guys!!! Memories made for life!
- Chicagotraveler62300Amazing TourThe best way to experience Howth!! I highly recommend this e-bike tour! Aileen, a local, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and fun! The bikes are in great condition and easy to use. We had an amazing day and learned so much about the history while taking in stunning views along the way. A highlight of our trip!
- Odyssey42818000Great Quick Trip Around the EyeHarry was a spectacular guide! We so enjoyed the boat tour and his knowledge of Ireland's Eye! He was prompt and we had a wonderful hour tour!
- claudiawU383LM00Super nice trip- worth it!Super nice experience with a friendly guide! We enjoyed the trip on the boat and got to know more of Howth’s history. Will definitely do it again.
- stuartf58100Best bike tour - ever!!!Probably the best bike tour ever! Nicky's wit, charm, knowledge and deep love for Irish history was enchanting! The scenery was only topped by Nicky's pure joy and excitement in the sharing of her homeland. I am an avid world traveller and this tour is not to be missed!

I had a wonderful walking tour of the peninsula with Paula, an excellent local guide who shared lots of information and curious insights about Howth, its history and legends, and its stunning nature. I'd recommend this tour to groups, big or small, but it's also perfect if you're by yourself, as Paula adjusts her pace to yours, makes you feel comfortable and takes care of you at any moment. The tour makes you explore different parts of Howth, its diverse landscapes and amazing views and parts of the village itself. You'll enjoy the walk and the landscapes even though you aren't an experienced hiker (I'm not). Highly recommended.

Hi Samanta,
10,000 years of human presence in a UN Biosphere reserve is a nice surprise so close to a capital city. Paula is a great guide and loves sharing it every time. Thanks for a very professional review .

My class consisting of 19 students, aged 15-16, and me (their teacher, 61) went on the 3-hour tour during a 10-day stay in Ireland. The tour was guided by three knowledgeable and caring locals, who were passionate about sharing their love for Howth showing us a breathtaking coastal area and stunning views combined with providing extensive information about flora, fauna, history and literature as well as engaging my students to practise their English skills in interactive conversations. I'm convinced that my group had a truly enriching and educational experience. Having personally experienced the inspiring beauty of the Himalayas, Shane, a very charismatic guide, brought a unique perspective to his guiding. He is dedicated to creating awareness among people about the importance of respecting and preserving nature. Loki, his furry friend, added an extra element of fun. I highly recommend the hiking tour with Howth Adventures. You are supposed to be in good physical condition and you should wear walking boots as the trails can be steep and a challenge for older people at times. Nevertheless, the guides are very supporting. We are grateful for an amazing day in Ireland.

Hi Sabine,
It was great to have you and your students, the group were really good people. Your review highlights everything we are trying to do, sharing the culture and nature of our UNESCO Biosphere and the 10,000 year old history of Ireland as it written in the landscape, coast and islands. If we really did our job well , you will be ambassadors for the coastal habitats and biodiversity of Howth , and your students will come back in the future.
Danke for the excellent review , and for coming to see Loki, Lorene, Maggi and me.

This was such a nice break from busy Dublin centre, and our guide Dan was excellent. Genuine and engaging, Dan took us through many diverse landscapes, with history, folklore and a perfect cliff-top reading to go along with the scenery. I’d call the experience modestly strenuous-quite a bit of up hill walking, at a good pace, you should be fairly fit. My 16 and 23 year old daughters and I loved every minute.

Hi Carla,
Very good review of exactly what we want to do, sharing Howth with visitors to the city. There is another side of Ireland written in the hillsides and the islands, and you don't have to travel too far from the city to find it.
Thank you,

I arrived in Dublin one day before my group trip started and I wanted to be sure to get some hiking in while I was there. I hesitated to book this for the same day I was scheduled to arrive due to the risk of flight delays, but I decided to take the risk and I’m so glad I did! First of all, when I emailed to ask if they thought I could make it from the airport in time, they recommended the 3-hour tour vs. the more expensive 4-hour tour to increase my likelihood of arriving on time. Second of all, despite the fact that the rest of the group cancelled due to weather, my booking wasn’t cancelled which meant I got a private tour that was customized to my abilities. Zack was an amazing guide; he was professional, knowledgeable, and so personable that I felt like I’d gained a new friend by the end of our time together. He also brought along his pup, Loki, which made the experience even better!! I couldn’t have asked for a better kick-off to my trip.

Thanks so much for leaving a fantastic review and recommendation. Zack had a great day with you and we never cancel due to weather on the hikes. It's always good fun, we just need to wear the right clother. Hope you had a great trip.

Insanely beautiful hike guided by Zack through what felt like a magical almost tropical jungle. With stories aplenty, heart warming poetry, Zack’s hike provided equal parts stimulation & total peace. Reminiscent of my rainforest hike through El Yunque in Puerto Rico! I could do this every time I’m in Dublin and never tire of it.

Hi Justmel,
Sounds like you got the best of days exactly how we want to share it. Zack cant do that all on his own, he needs you too. I'm guessing Loki was along as pathfinder.
Thanks for the great review, helping us stay on track.

This was the highlight of my stay in Ireland!
I came here for work and was looking for a way to experience a bit more of Ireland than just the city center and learn a bit of Irish culture on my free day.
While I could have walked this hike myself, it was a much more fun and educational experience taking this tour with Connor (Conchobhar I Iearned in Irish) who will even sing some Irish tunes if you’re nice ;)
Not to mention the location is gorgeous. Easy bus or train ride from Dublin city center. (H3 bus or dart)

I had an incredible time on the hiking tour! Shane is an excellent tour guide and his passion for the history and landscape of Howth is very evident. The tour was beautiful and we met may locals along the way. Although the 4 hour/“long” hiking tour may be a little strenuous for inexperienced hikers, I would strongly recommend it for those who like hiking and being in the outdoors.

Thank you Hollie, it was great to have you out. It is a good point to check if you book the Coastal Hike or The Howth Safari, the Safari is that bit longer, taking in all the habitats and the southern cliffs. See you somewhere over the rainbow.

I love everything about this coastal hiking tour. Conor, our tour guide was lovely and very friendly. The hike takes you in the woods and out to look over the breathtaking cliffs, facing the Ireland eye and Lambay Island behind. Get ready, and I recommend you have a good meal before you start the hike.

My most incredible photos of Ireland were captured on this hike. Make no mistake its a HIKE and not a walk. From the quaint costal village to tangled woods, emerald cliffs and breathtaking cliff walking it is an experience that you will look back on as one of the best memories of your trip and so close to Dublin. The tour starts right in front of the metro station.

Good review for everyone to read thank you. "best memories of your trip" is also great to read. Not for the couch potatoes though. We have Irelands Eye Ferries for a less energetic activity on the salty seas.

A must for your Dublin itinerary!
Our tour was a wonderful mix of scenery and history, lush forest and stunning coastline views in a walk/hike that is doable for anyone (nothing too difficult) and a lovely way to spend a few hours outside the city. Paul is a kind and knowledgeable guide who made us all feel right at home in his Howth. I highly recommend this tour!

Hi Rebecca, there is plenty of time to explore the attractions and take photos. We do not visit the interior of Howth Castle on the Coastal Walk on Chowder Trail but visit the grounds and beautiful surroundings.
