Shane’s extensive history and nature knowledge and his ability to recite prose to bring the walk to life is wonderful. He catered the walk to our fitness level which was much appreciated. Additionally he tracked the walk with photos of us and sent the link which added to the experience.

We would fully recommend this tour.

Honestly I can't say enough good things about this tour. I took three tour from Dublin, one to Blarney Castle, Cork & Cobh, and another to the Cliffs of Moher & Galway that were both great, both this tour was my favorite. The island was beautiful, first we got to see the Howth Castle and hear local oral history about pirates and ancient Howth family lines, then we started into the woods where we explored a gorgeous rhododendron forest. I especially loved this as I've been living in the desert of Spain for several months now and it reminded me of my home in Asheville, NC. Next we climbed a peak to see Howth and the bay spread out below us in a spectacular display of glistening waters and rolling green hills. We continued our tour along the coast to a pebbled beach. It was a local spot, nothing you would find on google maps. Shane was wonderful company the whole tour, I enjoyed watching everyone we met great him excitedly by name almost as much as I enjoyed the company of his dog Loki. We made our way back to town after the beach where Shane recommended some great spots and personally got us in to a busy restaurant. All in all, I hope to return to Howth again someday and that Shane will still be there giving his tours.

I got the feeling that all of Shane's tours were a little different and that he adjusts his route for his guests, so you may not see all of the things that I saw, but you could probably request something if there was a specific place mentioned that piqued your interest.

Thank you so much for my favorite day in Ireland, Shane.

Hi Dani, We had at least as good a time with you as you so glowingly had with us. Thanks for the fantastic review, it is everything we are trying to do. Loki and I are so happy to have got out with you, and hope you can make the trek up again from Spin in May, when the somber beauty of December will be replaced by the overwhelming vitality of late Spring. This was the highlight of my stay in Ireland!
I came here for work and was looking for a way to experience a bit more of Ireland than just the city center and learn a bit of Irish culture on my free day.

While I could have walked this hike myself, it was a much more fun and educational experience taking this tour with Connor (Conchobhar I Iearned in Irish) who will even sing some Irish tunes if you’re nice ;)

Not to mention the location is gorgeous. Easy bus or train ride from Dublin city center. (H3 bus or dart)

A must for your Dublin itinerary!
Our tour was a wonderful mix of scenery and history, lush forest and stunning coastline views in a walk/hike that is doable for anyone (nothing too difficult) and a lovely way to spend a few hours outside the city. Paul is a kind and knowledgeable guide who made us all feel right at home in his Howth. I highly recommend this tour!

I love everything about this coastal hiking tour. Conor, our tour guide was lovely and very friendly. The hike takes you in the woods and out to look over the breathtaking cliffs, facing the Ireland eye and Lambay Island behind. Get ready, and I recommend you have a good meal before you start the hike.

My most incredible photos of Ireland were captured on this hike. Make no mistake its a HIKE and not a walk. From the quaint costal village to tangled woods, emerald cliffs and breathtaking cliff walking it is an experience that you will look back on as one of the best memories of your trip and so close to Dublin. The tour starts right in front of the metro station.

I had a wonderful walking tour of the peninsula with Paula, an excellent local guide who shared lots of information and curious insights about Howth, its history and legends, and its stunning nature. I'd recommend this tour to groups, big or small, but it's also perfect if you're by yourself, as Paula adjusts her pace to yours, makes you feel comfortable and takes care of you at any moment. The tour makes you explore different parts of Howth, its diverse landscapes and amazing views and parts of the village itself. You'll enjoy the walk and the landscapes even though you aren't an experienced hiker (I'm not). Highly recommended.

An absolutely fabulous tour of Howth with Conor who gave us fascinating insights into the past, present and even future of this very special part of Dublin. We were absolutely blessed with perfect sunshine and the tour had everything - the storytelling of the ancient Dolmen in the woods and Grace O'Malley the pirate Queen's legacy as well as the spectacular coastal views. We felt on top of the world and resigned ourselves to be present in the moment and take in the breathtaking views that a camera could never do justice to. To top it all as we descended the hill gasping for a good cup of coffee , Conor took us passed all the long lines of people and to the end of the pier and a gorgeous coffee shop with the best coffee in town and best of all no line outside - a hidden gem that only a skilled tour guide would know of. We all loved it - highly recommend the tour.

I had an incredible time on the hiking tour! Shane is an excellent tour guide and his passion for the history and landscape of Howth is very evident. The tour was beautiful and we met may locals along the way. Although the 4 hour/“long” hiking tour may be a little strenuous for inexperienced hikers, I would strongly recommend it for those who like hiking and being in the outdoors.

Thank you Hollie, it was great to have you out. It is a good point to check if you book the Coastal Hike or The Howth Safari, the Safari is that bit longer, taking in all the habitats and the southern cliffs. See you somewhere over the rainbow. Is mise, le meas Shane

My 80+ students thoroughly enjoyed the cliff walk organized by Shane and his team. I can easily say that it was the highlight of our three day trip to Dublin (and Howth). I loved every minute of it and I could not have wished for any better. Not only the nature is beautiful, Shane really knows how to engage students and really has interested them in learning more about the history of beautiful Ireland.

Shane and everyone involved, thank you again for everything.
