About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- O9341NDchristineb0 contributionsDon't hesitate to book!Considering how it had begun, our day turned out to be one of the most memorable we have ever experienced. When our taxi, pre-booked by our hotel, didn't arrive the Paddywagon staff in the office and Kevin our driver very kindly waited for us. With help from the staff in the Address Hotel we thankfully made it to the coach just a few minutes after it had been due to depart! The Paddywagon was extremely comfortable with Kevin sharing his knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Ring of Kerry area in such an engaging manner. He regaled us with stories and interesting information as we went along. Thanks to the surprisingly perfect weather conditions the scenery, which we had the opportunity to photograph during our several stops, was absolutely stunning. Coming towards the end of the trip we were treated to a few 'jaunty' tunes the highlights being 'The Chicken Song' and 'Have you seen the Paddywagon?!' A huge thank you to the office staff and Kevin in particular for giving us a day we will never forget!Written 2 December 2024
- The_Wanderer19920 contributionsGreat TourMy husband and I used Paddywagon to go to the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park. The guide, Kevin, was great. He gave some interesting facts about Ireland and the area. The views were excellent. We had a stop for lunch at a restaurant in a village that costs additional along with an optional visit to an open air museum that costs additional as well.Written 30 November 2024
- Robdavies880 contributionsBit of a shamblesI was booked onto the Ring of Kerry tour from Cork. I wished I hadn’t. Absolutely waste of a full day. The weather was the biggest dampener of it all. Our driver was friendly and likeable, but the problem was he spoke only broken English and not many people on the bus understood him when he was pointing things out over the speaker. It felt like he’d learned a script rather than doing tour guiding. Our first stop was Killarney, a very touristy town that seemed really nice. We had about 50 minutes to look around and be back at the bus for 10:55 - only downside, most of the shops didn’t open until 11:00 so we got a good look at some hotels and closed shop windows. The 2nd stop was the Kerry Bog village - quite an interesting open air museum showing an old Irish village and history about the famine. I enjoyed this, although it was an extra €7 to get inside. I will give that museum a 5* though as it is worth seeing if you enjoy history. The weather was now really bad. The view points and scenery were just white mist. Nobody was even getting off the bus, except one man who gave us all something to laugh at. Apparently there were some islands in the bay with spectacular views of county cork but we just had to go off the drivers description, which wasn’t very clear. We tried a national park and that was the same. It was heavy rain and nothing could be seen. To round up the farce even more, we arrived at a waterfall in the woods that were were promised we’d be able to see…at 5pm and it was too dark to see anything let alone get photos. The driver then drove away and left 3 people behind because he hadn’t checked if everyone was back on the bus. He blamed it on the darkness. Luckily another passenger had shouted that they thought some people were missing. The driver then let them board and drove away again, still not counting people. I assume we got back with everyone as he hadn’t checked. The trip was a day of sitting on a half full steamed up bus of miserable people. I know the weather can’t be helped, and this is Ireland in November, but it’s how they deal with it. I paid €59 for this trip. I still have another day in Cork with no plans - I emailed the booking office on Cork to see if there was any chance I could get transferred onto the next day as weather was looking brighter and it’s a quiet time of year for them. I’ll happily update my review if they reply - wither with upgrading my review to mention that they are an amazing tour company that genuinely want to give their customers the best experience and offer features of goodwill, or that they’ll just say “no, you booked for this specific day so here’s the small print - tough luck.” If you’re reading this, it will be the latter.Written 28 November 2024
- Scenic497013134480 contributionsKevin is my bestie 🥹**Paddy Wagon Tours – Ring of Kerry Tour Review** I cannot recommend Paddy Wagon Tours enough for their incredible Ring of Kerry tour! Our guide, Kevin, was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, he made the experience fun, engaging, and truly unforgettable. Kevin’s knowledge of the history and culture of the areas we toured was remarkable. He shared fascinating stories and insights that brought the stunning landscapes to life. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his humor kept the group entertained throughout the day. Beyond his expertise, Kevin went above and beyond to ensure everyone in the group had a great time. His energy, professionalism, and genuine passion for what he does are unmatched. If I could, I would request Kevin as my tour guide for every single tour I take for the rest of my life. He truly set a new standard for what a guided tour can be. Thank you, Kevin, and thank you, Paddy Wagon Tours, for an incredible experience! I can’t wait to book my next adventure with you.Written 15 November 2024
- Paige P0 contributionsGreat weather and views!tour guide and all the stops were awesome! got super lucky with the weather (he said he hadn’t seen it this clear in months) so definitely take into consideration. Not enough people in my group were interested in the horse and kart tour around killarney to go, but if offered definitely take up it sounded awesome!Written 15 November 2024
- elbrujo_ve0 contributionsGreat Day Tour from CorkThe Ring of Kerry and Killarney tour with Paddywagon Tours was fantastic. They’re punctual, sticking to the schedule at each stop, and the itinerary includes a good balance of sights. And reasonably priced. If you're offered the chance to take the Jaunting Cars tour in Killarney (for an extra fee), definitely go for it! It’s a fun, also reasonably priced experience, though be prepared to pay in cash (around €12-€15 per person). There are a couple of additional optional costs to keep in mind, like a stop for Irish Coffee (delicious!) and lunch. It’s a full-day tour, so bring your camera and a charger—there are countless photo-worthy moments throughout. The only drawback was the guide’s commentary. While knowledgeable and personable, he leaned heavily into a nationalistic perspective, frequently referencing historical conflicts with the English and playing patriotic music. While this may resonate with some, it could feel uncomfortable for others, especially international guests like the English couple on our tour. With a bit more balance in tone, this tour would be perfect. Overall, it’s an incredible day of Irish scenery and culture!Written 3 November 2024
- PaulMcElhinney0 contributionsGood tour, poor commentary. This was billed as a guided tour. I feel a little guilty saying this as the young man is simply trying to earn a living but our guide's spoken English simply wasn't good enough. We were driven around the route, we stopped at the stops, the tour commentary was often incomprehensible.Written 2 November 2024
- Denise E0 contributionsPaddywagon Does it Again!Fresh off the Paddywagon ‘Ring of Kerry’ tour yesterday, we just returned from the Cliffs of Moher day tour with Paul as our driver and guide today. These tours will never satisfy every single person because they’re always going to say there’s not enough time to stop, they felt too rushed, they didn’t like the food choices … whatever. For us though, we fully enjoyed the pace of the day, all of the stops, and all of Paul’s stories and information while journeying up to the Cliffs of Moher and back. We saw Limerick, Burren, and Bunratty Castle, to name a few. Of course, the absolute highlight was the Cliffs of Moher and we were lucky that it was mostly clear while we were there (it became heavily overcast right after we left). I would however like to warn anyone that is even remotely prone to motion sickness. This is a fast moving bus on extremely narrow, hilly, and windy roads. A couple of passengers were feeling fairly ill and were given bags in case they felt like they might vomit. I personally was not bothered but I could understand how others might be. We fully enjoyed our day and especially the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher! Thanks again to Paul and Paddywagon Tours!Written 30 October 2024
- Denise E0 contributionsFantastic Day!My husband and I enjoyed the most wonderful day with Paddywagon Tours on the Ring of Kerry day tour yesterday. Our driver and host for the day was Brian. Brian is a safe and skilled driver who easily navigated our bus through traffic, narrow streets, and tight corners. The bus was completely clean and comfortable, has USB ports and on-board WiFi. Throughout the day, we journeyed through Killarney, Sneem, Waterville, the Kerry Bog Village, and Torc Falls to name a few. We opted not to go on the ‘jaunty ride’ in Killarney and instead roamed around the streets and visited the shops. What a charming and beautiful little town! Everyone was advised right at the beginning of our trip to always be on time when departing each location. Thankfully everyone was and it kept our journey on schedule. Brian was a knowledgeable guide and shared an abundance of information with our group. Let Paddywagon do the driving and show you the sights.Written 30 October 2024
- cynthiaaD4012JN0 contributionsSeatbelts and stops along the wayOur trip was a wee bit disappointing for two reasons. 1) Our bus had some seatbelt issues and when we mentioned it to the driver we were told that since the bus was going to be replaced so they weren't bothering with fixing the seatbelts. This did not restore our faith in the bus! 2) We felt that the trip was a bit rushed at times...not enough time at each stop. Maybe in the future have less stops which would allow for longer at the ones you do stop at.Written 25 October 2024

- siobhanl7760 contributionsDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!I was on the paddy wagon tour from Dublin to Giants Causeway. Just after we departed Giants Causeway a tractor hit the bus and blew out every window. Although the tractor was mainly to claim the bus was over the line. After this accident everyone of the 52 was covered in glass. The crash happened at 2.30 and after taking us to a local pub ( where we had to pay for our own food) it took 5.5 hrs for one bus arrived to take half of us and the second didn’t arrived till 9.30!!! We were covered in glass from head to toe. Overall we arrived back at midnight instead of 8pm, and entirely missed one stop promised on the trip. When asked for a refund PaddyWagon refused and failed to take any responsibility for their lack of response following the accident.Written 27 September 2024

- georgiegirlto0 contributionsJust a bus ride - no guide at allHighly, highly disappointed. We did the Blarney, Cobh and Kinsale. We didn’t have a guide all he said was don’t eat on the bus come back to the parking lot at 12 when we arrived at Larney. This is a tour. This is a bus to take you places and you can get a lot cheaper if you just do it yourself. How is this tour still around and how do they employee people that aren’t Irish can hardly understand them, and they don’t talk at all on the bus they’re not giving you any type of information regarding where you’re going. All of us on the bus, we were thinking the same thing we thought he would be telling us some things about Barney Castle before we get there no nothing at all .Written 24 September 2024

We would highly recommend Paddywagon tours as the tour guide met us at the cruise port & got us to the Blarney Castle before the long lines began to climb to the top & “kiss” the Blarney stone. We had lots of time to explore the grounds and visit the woollen mill there.
Kinsale was a cute little town with several shops & restaurants.
Our driver was exceptional as he was very informative, funny and knowledgeable. Thank you Paddywagon tours for a great tour!!!

The bus was just outside the cruise port at the train station, very convenient, and the driver named DJ was courteous and hilarious. He provided historical details throughout the trip, engaged us in Irish songs, and was prompt at every drop off and pick up. The Woolen Mills Gift Shop was well worth the short walk along the stream at the Castle. I would recommend this trip for anyone looking to experience the Blarney Castle, Kinsale, and Cobh.

We recently experienced a very enjoyable tour with Paddy Wagon Tours.
The driver/tour guide Don(?) kept us constantly entertained and informed. I particularly liked his explanation of Irish elections.
Blarney Castle was somewhat crowded and we did not line-up to climb a bunch of stairs just to kiss a rock but it is a lovely place with beautiful gardens. They would be spectacular in the spring and early summer.
Kinsale was extremely crowded due to a car rally and I was impressed at how Don maneuvered the full size coach through the heavy traffic.
I definitely recommend Paddy Wagon Tours.

I really can’t write a review on this trip since the tour company (Paddywagon Tours) never showed up! They left at least 15 people standing there waiting and wouldn’t answer the phone. We finally decided to go on a tour with a local guide who was there but I would never recommend this company.

We booked this tour because it seemed very comprehensive and reasonably priced. Our tour guide was very good and was very knowledgeable about how to "beat the crowds". We left on time out of Cobh right at the exit for the cruise terminal, easily found. The reason I didn't get this five stars is because I felt going to Blarney Castle was a waste of time. Our bus driver took us straight there and insured we got in line quickly and we got through the gate without incident very fast. Our wait to walk up to the castle and enter was no more than two or three minutes, then we realize we're in the queue for kissing the Blarney Stone. Barney Castle is not much to see except for kissing the Blarney Stone. When you enter the castle, you're in the queue for kissing the Blarney Stone, which whines up a very steep, narrow, circular stairway, eventually leading to the roof of the castle for stories up. After kissing the Blarney Stone, we walked around the gardens, which were absolutely beautiful, then had to wait for the rest of the gang and our departure time of noon. FYI, as my friend and I had gotten a snack and walked towards the entrance, we realized two hours later , the line for the Blarney Stone was 2 1/2 hours! So if you're going to go to Blarney Castle, get there early! Our next stop I thought it was a waste of time making a 10 cent tour through streets of Cork, I don't think the bus slowed down under 30 miles an hour, and we went through the streets with pointing out a few things which she really couldn't see much. Our next stop was Kinsale, way out of the way, and frankly, my friend, and I felt the waste of time. Driving 45 minutes to Kinsale is OK except for Kale pills in comparison to Cobh itself. It's a fine little town, my friend and I got something to eat there but frankly, it was nothing to write home about. In our opinion Cobh (where the ship docks) is far more scenic and beautiful. My friend walked around Cobh. I was having knee pain and went straight back to the ship. In summary, it's a fine tour, but skip Blarney Castle and Kinsale and stick around Cobh, and perhaps do a Dewers tour. We arrived back to the ship an hour and 15 minutes prior to departure, the driver was exceptionally mindful of getting us back in time.

The tour was easy to access once we were outside the cruise port, and the guide/bus driver was friendly, energetic, and informative. The drive was smooth, but a majority of the tour groups arrived at Blarney Castle at the same time so we stood in line most of our time there to actually see Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone. There was not enough time allowed to see the castle and walk any of the park grounds. The tour was divided to spend half of the visiting time at Blarney Castle and half in the port town of Kinsale, but we would have enjoyed more time at the castle. Many people arrived back to the bus late because we just did not have enough time with the large crowds at the castle. Kinsale was a lovely town too, and we enjoyed lunch at the Lemon Leaf cafe and still had time to browse a few shops. Overall, the tour was good, and I would recommend Paddywagon Tours!

This was the worst tour we’ve ever had in any country, EVER! Beyond the fact it was extremely rushed and didn’t visit much that is listed in the description (but don’t worry he dropped us off for a cheap lunch no one on the tour could eat so we stood around wasting time), the guide was horrific. He spent the entire time doing 1 of 3 things - telling raunchy, explicit sex jokes, encouraging under age drinking, or asking for tip money. He also only got us a back to the ship a few minutes before all aboard which was nerve wracking. Skip this tour!

Excellent timing for this trip - ours was the first bus group to Blarney Castle. Walked right in & no crowds. The bus driver (DJ) kept our group engaged during the drive with stories and song - lots of fun. Saw lovely countryside during the drive. The tour allowed plenty of time at the sites.

The reviews for Paddywagon were so good at the time I booked this excursion. I am not a complainer and leave only positive reviews. Brian was the best Guide! However the Paddywagon bus broke down at the very beginning of this excursion. We were only able to participate in 1.5 hours of a scheduled 6-7 hour excursion at over $100 per person. Paddywagon refuses to consider even a partial refund. Brian needs to change tour companies. He was great for the 1.5 hours that we spent with him. Paddywagon never again!

On leaving the cruise port we were directed to the bright green Paddywagon bus just a minute or so walk from Cobh port entrance. Our driver / guide Kevin was an excellent host and looked after us well. One of the huge benefits of the early start was being the very first tour group at Blarney Castle so we were first through the gates and no waiting to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone. Doing that first thing gave us over two hours to explore the beautiful Blarney Castle grounds or wander to the Blarney Woollen Mill store. To be honest you could easily spend a whole day in the grounds of the castle, but a couple of hours was ample to explore and get photos. When we left there Kevin told us the wait to kiss the Blarney Stone was now over 2 hours! Kevin did well!
We had plenty of time at Kinsale too, a delightful town with colourful buildings and a fine pint of Beamish to be had. The Tourist Office was helpful here, providing my wife and I with a map and suggesting a nice circular walk around the town. There was enough time to get lunch at Kinsale for those who wanted to sample the local delicacies.
The final section of the day included a scenic drive through the city of Cork and then Kevin dropped us back at Cobh, giving us all the option of getting out near the cathedral or staying on to the part entrance. We got off in the town and took in a few sights before the short walk back to the port.
Kevin treated us to a funny rendition of the Paddywagon song on the way back to Cork...he was a real laugh but did his job thoroughly, taking great delight in sharing stories of the local history and telling us about his interest with ancestry and genealogy of the area. Overall it was a wonderful day out and highly recommended.
