This trip was a great experience. You leave from Scandic on the water. It’s a 50min bus ride from the Scandic in the am, to a ferry boat which crosses you through an amazing Fjord, the view on the entire trip are breathtaking. The guides pick you up at the ferry, and it’s about a 30 min ride to the house, where you disembark and set-up for snowmobiling for approx 2 hours. We were broken up into two groups and one group could snow shoe and hangout while the other went snowmobiling. So there is some downtime if you like. The staff was efficient, fun, friendly. I didn’t expect a much from the food offering at this price point but amazingly enough, lunch, dinner and breakfast was delicious and super fresh (fish soup, lamb, salmon, eggs, and a number of healthy sides to choose from). Snowmobiling was amazing, about a two hour tour through the amazing scenery, and at the end they they allow you to let loose freely, which was a bit different than what I’m used to in the states. They provided any equipment you needed if you didn’t come prepared. In th evening after dinner, you can choose you set a fire and enjoy the company with the other guests or go back to the Lavuu. We chose to go back to Lavuu and wait for the lights, we really lucked out with a clear evening and saw the lights in our Lavuu from 9 pm to about 1am, probably one of the most amazing things I’ve seen in my life. You could see them lying on your back but they were so intense I actually ran around the property taking pictures from all angles!!! (Pictures shown here are from my iPhone so nothing fancy) Super awesome experience. The Lavuu’s are pretty basic, wood burning stove, electric heater, two comfy beds (one single one double) I snuggled up with my wife and we stayed warm but you def have to keep the stove going all night, and there are out houses so it’s a bit of a camping / bed and breakfast experience. As one reviewer stated, it’s not luxurious and a little roughing it. We had amazing company while we’re there so definitely the Company, the northern lights, snowmobiling, staff, food, whole experience was great the only knock….we didn’t have any wine so bring some if you can! I would def do this tour and overnight stay again, but I would have loved it even more with family and friends! Thank you to the staff and company for a memorable experience…hope to see you soon.

Our stay with Green Gold was a highlight of our trip to Norway. We did the overnight stay, being picked up in the early morning and returning the next day by 11am. The journey to their house is 2 hours but don’t let that put you off. The ride is comfortable, with great views of the countryside and is broken up after an hour with a 20 min ferry ride. We arrived about 11am and as we were staying overnight, we got to go snow-shoeing while the day trippers went out on the snowmobiles. After an early lunch prepared by the friendly and ever helpful Carole we went snow-mobiling. It’s great fun but actually a bit harder than we imagined, requiring lots of moving around to stop the machine tipping over. Still it was lots of fun and everyone got a chance to take a turn at driving. After taking in the sunset we had a lovely meal before the light show began in earnest. We were lucky - the Northern Lights were out in full force! We watched and took photos for a few hours (popping inside to warm up every so often) and eventually headed off to the cabins. These are lovely round wooden shelters with a single log burner for warmth. Once the fire gets going they are really quite warm but you do need to pop a log or two on every couple of hours to keep them going. We fell asleep watching the orange glow of the flames along with the twinkle of stars shining through the glass roof. The next morning, after an enjoyable breakfast we headed back, reflecting on a wonderful 24 hours with Green Gold.

Things we really liked:
The location is lovely - next to the fjord and surrounded by nearby mountains. It was stunning in the morning light
The place has a peaceful relaxed vibe - it’s not a swanky hotel and you won’t be waited on at every moment which means you have space to relax and take in the surrounding.
You can make coffee and tea when you want - and you’re expected to move your finished cups when you’re done
Food was just right - as veggies/Vegans, we felt well catered for
The cabins are awesome
The whole experience was made more special by the lights but we’d have had a great time regardless

A few things to note:
Bathroom is in the house, which requires a short walk at night
The log fires need a bit of careful management. Wood can fall out so treat them with some caution
The snowmobiles do tip relatively easily. Don’t be put off - the team are on hand to help at every stage - but do listen to their instructions if you want to stay upright
Bring some cards or a book for the quieter moments

Thanks Carole and team for a lovely stay. We’d strongly recommend Green Gold as part of your Norway winter trip

Cancelled last minute with no explanation. However, still selling tickets online for same date. Of course all others are fully booked now.

Very disappointing service.
